M. `i'uesday q May let 1934, with the f ollowing members of the Board present: J .J.P.Hamilton, Chairman;J .D.Yongue; R.E.Madge; John M. Knight and Edwin A.Helseth. also present were vim. V!. Frick, -sheriff 9 James It . Vocelle, Attorney for the Board and miles Marren, Clerk. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. E. E. Sanderson, Court Reporter appeared before the Board regarding bill of 0170.50 filed in the case of :State -vs- Harold G. Redstone. After some discussion he agreed to accept §150.00 in.settlement which was agreed and warrant ordered issued in payment. The following named persons were selected as Inspectors and Clerk of the several voting precincts for the purpose of conducting the primary election to be held Tuesday, June 5th 1934: PRECINCT No. 1, HOSEI,AND. PRECINCT No. 8, FELLSSRE. H. Miipple; G. F. Green and P. H. 1cEachron, inspectors and W. W, Marris, Clerk. Voting place designated: Cammunity Hall. M. G. Mood, Fellemere, appeared before the Board regarding repairs to roads in that vicinity. Commissioner Mudge advised that as soon as ,possible the roads will be repaired. Mr. V4. G. Woods, also appeared regarding the financial condition of Mrs Jessie Yates and a letter addressed to Chairman Hamilton about this case. No action was taken. Walter Monroe Jr., appeared before the Board regarding alleged injury to his knee while in the County Jail. it was ordered this matter be laid over for further investigat',on. The bond of P. A. NcEachron, is Justice of the Peace, Dist. #3, in the sum of $500.00 with Roy L. Xinney and R. Weigle, as sureties was approved. , G It was ordered that Eugene Nammnond, Roseland, be placed on the pauper list to receive the sum of -V10.00 per month, until the further ordered of the Board. The following resolution me introduced by Commissioner Edwin A. Helseth, who moved its adoption: WHEREAS, Indian River County, Florida, has no County stockade nor any facilities for the handling of County convicts, and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of St-. Lucie County has indicated its willingness to lease all the County convicts of Indian River County when and as it has completed a County stockade, and, a OH1EREAS, it would be to great advantage of the county of Indian. River so to do, �Q 6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County that upon the completion of a County stockade in St. lassie County, Florida, that this Board does agree to enter into an agreement to lease all its County convicts to said St. Iueie County at and for the sun of 01.00 per year, and that we do urge upon St. Incie County the completion of said stockade at the earliest possible time in order that the taxpayers of this County may be saved the expense of the upkeep of County con- victs without any benefit being received therefrom. Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted. .�.------- `the f'0l�:owing resolO io;n was introduced by Comnissioner R. Be Vadge, who moved its adoption: AREAS, the state Board of administration has submitted certain proposals of pe firms and corporations offering to sell certain bonds of the County of Indian River, or obligations assumed by said County, under the provisions of House Bill wo. 30, acts of the 1933 Legislatures and wHEREAS, after carefully considering the said proposals, and taking into considera- tion the value of said bonds and the amount of funds available for this purpose it is deemed expedient and advisable to purchase certain of said bonds: TMEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, that the state Board of administration be requested to purchase the following bonds: One (1) bond of St Incie County Public Highway, 676, dated Feb 1, 1920 due Feb 11 1942 at 45 flat, as designated "CO.,'. Two (2) bonds of St Lucie County Public highway OW,6, dated Feb.101920,due Feb 1,1948 and Feb 1 1950 at 49-3/4 flat. JJs signated "D". ' The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Knights and upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted. ------------------ RESOLUTION. wREPSAS, - It has been brought to our attention that the City of Orlandohas announc- ed plans for an All -Florida Pair to be known as "Florida On Paradew to be held for 100 days in 19369 and WHMMM# - Plans and financing for this fair are now going ford withma kiW''suc-. oess, indicating that ample support is available to make it an outstanding national event, and WHEW10, - Such a fair would serve to attract many people to the state and would be of great entertainment and educational value to winter visitors, and, WMRW9 - The plans for the fair contemplate that it shall be thoroughly represents -tine of all parts of the state and so shall bring benefit to all parts of the state, therefore be it hereby MESOLVED, That the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County commends y the city of Orlando for its vision and energy in initiating the plans for i this fair and hereby expresses approval of such plane, and be it further :RESOLVED, - That we urge the citizens of Indian River County that they 000perate in as far as possible in the effort to make this fair an unqualified suc- 1 CeSle . The several bills and accounts against the County having been audited, were exam and found correct, were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of some. Such Bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court 0 I- I 1 1 1 The warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed completely in the County Finance record as provided by law, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a pert of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out herein -in detail. The County depository filed its monthly report showing receipts and disbursements of the various funds, which having been check was found to be correct.
