The several bills and accounts against the County, hoeing been audited, were examined and found correct were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk Circuit court. The warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed completely in the Uounty finance record as provided by law, reference to said record and the list so recorded being made a, part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out herein in detail. The Tax Assessor having heretofore presented his books showing the assessed valuation of property for examination by the Board in compliance with the requirements 1 ,.1 of Section 934 Compiled General Laws the Board again resolved itself into a Board of Equalizers for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real, personal or mixed, as fixed by the County Assessor of taxes for assessment for the taxes for the year 1934, and also to consider such com- plaints as heretofore laid before the Board. The owners and agents of property, who appeared for that purpose, were allowed to make full and complete statements as to the valuation of the property owned or represented by them and the Tax Assessor and the members of the Board having fully discussed the statements and facts as presented decided not to increase or lower the valuation of any property on the said roll. it was thereupon ordered that the iax assessor be and is hereby instructed to assess the property at the valuation fixed by himself as Tax Assessor. There being no further business on motion mode, seconded and carried the Board then adjourned until thurddny, July 5th 1934. 0. U.e Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House, at Vero Beach, on this the 5th day of July, 1934, and the following County Commissioners were present: J.J.P.Hamilton, Chairman; X.E.Mudge; John M. Knight and Edwin -A.Helseth. Also present were an W Frick, 'Sheriff; Chas. A. Idtohell, attorney for the Board and Miles Warren, Clerk. it was ordered that Mrs. Francis Sloan of wabasso be placed on the pauper list to receive the sum of 46.00 per month until the further orders of the Board. It was ordered that Commissioner Knight and Road Superintendent Kersey be named a committee to purchase a truck for County use. Road Supt. Kersey was directed and authorized to sell old Model "TO Ford to 0. H. Stephens, for the sum of 425.00 It appearing that for more than two years the Clerk as Ulerk to this Board has received less than the amount contemplated by law, and on account of the complete change in the method of handling County Finances to be installed effective October lst 1934, it was ordered that the budget item of salary of the Clerk be set at X1200.00 per annum. The tax books being ready to be returned to thQ tax Assessor for the purpose of extending the taxes thereon as provided by law the Board of County Commissioners then too up the matter .of making an estimate of the necessary expenses for the fiscal year, from October lst 1934 to the 30th day of ,September 19359 and having considered the receipts estimated by the Clerk and the valuation of the property of the County as shown by the assessment rolls prepared by the Tax Assessor and having given full consideration to the needs and necessities of the Uounty and the requirements for the different purposes to meet the expenses during the said fiscal year, have determined and do hereby declare the following to be the expenses and all special and extra, -ordinary expenses contemplated for the fiscal year next ensuing and for which the revenue for the year 1934 from ad valorem taxation and the estimated receipts from other sources will be available: GERERAL REVENUE b UIVD: 1. salary of Clerk as Clerk to Board ..............p 19200s00 2. Court House or other indebtedness .............. 59000.00 TOTAL ..... `33,990.88 It was thereupon resolved that the Clerk of the Circuit Court be directed to have the foregoing estimates as made by the Board published in a. newspaper in this County by two insertions and that a copy thereof properly certified be forwarded to the Comp- troller of the state of Florida. it was further resolved that at thopregular meeting of this Board to be held on the 7th day of August, 1934, the f oregoing estimates shall be token up and considered and acted upon and at the some time the tax levy for the year 1934• will be made. The following resolution me introduced and unanimously adopted: WHEREAS, this Board has applied to the .public Works Administration for a loan of $759000.00 for the construction of a. court House, and has reason to believe that the said application will be approved, and each fiscal year WHEREAS this County is now receiving more than ,!�10,000.00/`from the State Race Track Funds, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the sun. of 45 ,000.00 be set aside in the budget for the year Oct let 1934 to Sept 30th 1935 but 6Ees€ai.d Race Track Funds to be used role for the purpose of paying interest and retirement of principal due said PWA in the event said loon is approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the sense of this Board that each succeeding year the sum of -V5 ,000.00 be set aside from. said Race Track Funds, in addition to the regular ad valorem taxes for the purpose of paying the interest on said loan and the retirement of the principal, until the total sum and interest is repaid. o Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimously adopted.
