HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/6/1934TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6 th 1934. The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at th Court House fin 'hero 3each, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, November 6th 1934, with the following members of the Board present:, J. J. P. Hamilton, Chairman; Fronk U. Vickers; R. E. Rhdge; John M. Knight and Edwin A. Helseth. Also present were Vdm Frick, Sheriff, Chas A Mitchell, ,Attorney and Miles Warren, Clerk. Dr. Vd. H. Humiston representing the Beautification Society of Vero Beach appeared before the Board and requested assistance in grading from the North Railroad crossing in Vero Beach to the canal bridge on the East side of the Rood. The Board to furnish the equipment to do this work without liability on the part of the County. It Was oniered. that Mrs Luther Barker be paid the sum of $10.00 from the pauper fund It being understood she will file application for a mothers pension. It was ordered firs Lillian Strickland be paid the sum of 03.00 per month from the pauper fund until the further orders of the. Bo ard. It was ordered Rendie Herrin, ( Col) Fellsmere be paid the sum of $8.00 per month out of the pauper fund until the further orders of the Board, The following named persons were ordered stricken fraa the pauper fund: John Grabnegger, Fellsmere Mrs Pat Cleary, Fellsmere Capt. C. M. -Stanton representing the FERA, appeared before the Board requesting the sum of $100.00 be appropriated by. the Board as a revolving fund to assist in the constru- ction of sanitary privies in the County. The Board advised him the matter will be taken under consideration and advisement. Mrs Creola Tillis appeared before the Board requesting aid for the children of Olive Snell now serving a life sentence in the State prison. The request was token under consideration. Bills of W. R. Duncan, Tax Assessor, for assessment of taxes for the several special Districts were presented and checked over, found correct the sane were approved for the following amounts: Sebastian Inlet Di strict ........... $ 49.26 Atlantic -Gulf Special Road Di st....0286.30 Fe 11smere Cross State Road Dist....$ 84.30 It was ordered that the Sheriff collect all rents due the County for space used in the Cburt House from the various tenants at once, and in the event he is unable to collec, the amounts do to take the necessary proceedings to evict them. It wqs ordered that the County Attorney be employed to defender the suit filed in Circuit Court entitled Cooper, -vs -Moody, Dunuan et al at a fee paid County .Attorney C.P. Diamond at the time the personal property tax roll was contested in the suit of Vero Drug Co et al -vs- Olmstead in 1931 and 19320 provided the fee paid was not over $250.009 and if above that amount then for a fee of $250.00. The several bills and accounts against the County having been audited were examined and found correct were approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bills and account being on file in the office of the Clerk Circuit Court. The Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed completely in the County finance record as p.iovided by law, reference to said record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out herein in detail. There b-eing no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board then adjourned until `Saturday, November 10th 1934 at 3;00 o'clock P.M. ATTEST: Chaii�nnsn Clerk.
