The Tax Assessor having presented his books showing the assessed valuation of pro -
petty for examination by the Board in compliance with the requirements of Section 934 of
Compl ed General Laws, and Senate Bill No. 8899 Acts of 1935 Legislature, and the Board
of County Commissioners having given notice for fifteen days by publication in the Vero
Beach Press -Journal, a newspaper published at Vero Beach, in the County of Indian River
that the Board would meet on this day as a Board of Equalizers for the purpose of hearing
complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real, personal or
mixed, as fixed by the County Assessor of taxes for assessment for the taxes for the yeas
1935, the owners and agents of property, who appeared for that purpose, were allowed to
make full and complete statements as to the valuation of the property owned or represent(
by them and the Tax Assessor and the members of the Board having fully discussed the
statements and facts as presented decided that no change would be made in the valuation
of art of the property on the assessment roll.
The Board then agreed that said Board will continue to sit as a Board of Equalizers
of taxes tomorrow. The Board then adjourned until tomorrow morning at 10:00 o'clock

TUESDAY, JULY 214D 1935.
The Board of County Commissioners of Indian kdver County, met at the office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court at Vero Beach, in the County of indian niver, on this 2nd day
of July, 1935, and the following County Commissioners were present: J.J.P.Ho.milton,
Chairman; R.E.Mudge; E. P. Poole and Edwin A. fielseth. .Absent Frank C. Vickers. Also
present were James T. Vocelle, Attorney, wm W. Frick, Sheriff and Miles Warren, Clerk,
John W.M. '%heeler; Dr. David Hone; Mrs. Paul Luther; Miss Etheridge, VERA Nurse and
Mrs. Conquist, Federal District Nurse appeared before the Board and urged this County
to join St. Iucie, Martin and Okeechobee Counties in the organization of a Public Health
Unit. .After some discussion, it was moved, seconded and carried that the stmm of $2900.00
be placed in the budget, in the General Revenue :Fund for this purpose, with the under-
standing that all the other Counties join in the movement.
it was ordered that W. H. earns & ions, architects, proceed immediately to prepare
the necessary blue prints of proposed Court Houses
it was ordered that the allowance heretofore granted Mrs Lenora Snell be increased
from $5.00 to 07.00 per month.
The Notary Public bond of Walter A. Stewart, in the sum of !¢500.00 with American
Surety Company, a corporation, as surety was approved.
F. e. Heiser, of Fellemere, appeared before the Board regarding Road designated

warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed completely in the County
Finance record, as a supplemental minute book. reference to same and the list so re-
corded being made a part of these minutes.
The Court depository filed its monthly statement showing receipts and disburse -
meats of the various funds, which was found to be correct.
The Board of County Commissioners then adjourned to meet on Tuesday, the 6th day
of August, 1935.

At the regular meeting of the ..Board of County Commissioners of Indian river Uounty,
held in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Courts at Vero Beach# on the 6th day of

W. H. Garns, Architect, presented to the Board plans and specifications of the
proposed Court Mouse to be constructed, which was accepted by the Board and ordered fil
B. G. Thatcher, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Board
with reference to the proposed Cross state Canal., and after some discussion, the board
adopted the following resolution; which was introduced by com1 r. budge, and seconded by

WENF&M, The Board of County Commissioners of Indian ,diver County, Florida, is

desirous of acquiring all scientific and engineering data available on the advantages
and dissdvantaages of the .proposed Cross state Canals, and,
WHEMM, ftebas been brought to the attention of this Board that the office of the
District Engineer of . the war Department at Jacksonville has such data available.
TBEREFOBE, BE IT hBSOLVED9 that the war Department kngineere be requested to make
such data available to this Board.and that E D Carter be and he is, hereby designated
as the official representative of thus Board to secure such data from the records of the
District tsar Department Engineer at Jacksonville, without amy liability on the part of
this Board.
Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimou=sly adopted.
Applications were received from persons desiring to be placed on the pauper list to
receive aid from the County, and after carefully considering all such applications, it
was ordered that the following persons be placed on such list to receive the amount in-

Dice. G. V. Frazier, appeared before the Hoard and applied for a widow's exemption
on the 1.934 tax roll. The matter was referred to the 'fax Assessor, it not being within
the province of this Board to disturb the tax rolls pt the County.
