Garns, Architect, presented to the Board plans and specifications of the proposed Court Mouse to be constructed, which was accepted by the Board and ordered fil B. G. Thatcher, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Board with reference to the proposed Cross state Canal., and after some discussion, the board adopted the following resolution; which was introduced by com1 r. budge, and seconded by Com"r. Releeths WENF&M, The Board of County Commissioners of Indian ,diver County, Florida, is e desirous of acquiring all scientific and engineering data available on the advantages and disadvantages of the .proposed Cross state Canals, and, WHEMM, ftebas been brought to the attention of this Board that the office of the District Engineer of . the war Department at Jacksonville has such data available. TBEREFOBE, BE IT hBSOLVED9 that the war Department kngineere be requested to make such data available to this Board.and that E D Carter be and he is, hereby designated as the official representative of thus Board to secure such data from the records of the District tsar Department Engineer at Jacksonville, without amy liability on the part of this Board. Upon being put to a vote the same was unanimou=sly adopted. Miles warren, t Clerk Circuit Cou 1 I j 1 1 n` 1 The :foregoing estimates as made by the Board and published in the Vero Beach Press - Journal, a newspaper published in the County in the issue of said newspaper of the 19th doh of July, 1935, was then taken up, considered, and finally adopted. The Board then pro0eeded with the matter of fixing the rate of taxation for County and special District purposes for the year 1935, and after carefully considering of the estimates of receipts and. Ah+e� vs.tmtes- of expenditures it was the determination of the Board that the rate of taxation necessary to meet such expenses would be for each of the following mentioned purposes the amounts estimated, declared and levied, namelys 1a wrder.ao-meet the estimated current expenses of the County of Indian River of ,664.130 it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of mine (9) mills. upon the dollar be levied and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in the County, of Indian River on the first day of January, 1935s. for the ?� ... . to meet the current expenses of the County and to provide for the expenditure an estimated in the budget hereinbefore set forth. To meet the expenses estimated to be necessary to be paid out of the FIST & the sum of 811,127.39, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of ree (3) mills upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the property lying and being in the County of Indian River on the first day of Januarys 19359 for the Fine & Forfeiture Funds to meet the current expenses as estimated in the budget. To cover the amount of the estimated expenses for keeping the County Roads in good shape and for the construction and repairing of bridges and other necessary expenses to keep the roads of the County in good condition and provide other roads when necessary of 99686.009 it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Seven (7) mills upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in the County of Indian River on the first day of January, 19359 to meet the current expenses of the County as estimated in the budget. To provide a fund for the payment to worthy mothers a pension in order their child - ren attend the public schools of the County, the sum of #3,423.93, it in determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of one (1) mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and Is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in the County, of Indian River n the first day of January, 1935s to meet the current expenses of the County as esti. in the budget. Such bills and accounts being on file in the off lee of the Clerk Circuit Court. The warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed completely in the supplemental minute book as provided by the regulations of the state Auditor, reference to said, and the list so recorded being made a part of these mlzutes. The County depository filed its monthly statement showing receipts -and disbursement of the various funds which was found to be correct.
