It was ordered, if no protest is filed same will be declared a public road after posting notices for 30 days, in accordance with the statutes. The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, Tuesday, September 1st 1925, with the following members present: John H Atkin, Chairman; J W LaBruce, Donald Forbes and 0. 0. Helseth. Also pre- sent were Mlles Warren, Clerk and J. W. Knight, Sheriff. The minutes of previous meetings of August 4th and August 24th were read and approved. Mr N. E. Dale representing the American Legion appeared before the Board regarding County wide publicity during the Legion's national meeting October 5th to 10th, next at Omaha, Nebraska. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, it was ordered $500.00 be appropriated out of the Publicity Fund, payable January 1st 1926 for the purpose of advertising this County at said meeting. The proposition of The.. G. B. Sawyers Company to take charge of and manage the adver- tising and marketing of the $490,000. Special Road & Bridge District No. 4 Bonds was received, read and filed. After some consideration it was. deemed advisable not to enter into an agreement With such Company. The Vero Beach Press was designated as the newspaper in which the Acts of the Legis- lature of 1925 will be published. The Bill of St. Lucie County for its percentage of road and Bridge tax in the cities of Fort Pierce,anat Vero Beach and Fellsmere was ordered rejected for the reasonit has been taken care of in settlement between the Counties heretofore made. It was ordered that the County Engineeradvertise for bids for patching the hard surfaced roads in County Commissioners Districts No. 1 and No. 2. The following Election returns were received, canvassed and certified: STATE OF FLORIDA ) mull RIVER COUNTY) We, the undersigned, John H Atkin, Chairman, 3. W. LaBruce, Donald Forbes and 0. 0. Helseth, County Commissioners of Indian River County, under the provisions of the law creating Fellsmere gross State Road District, approved June 9th 1925, being the authority charged with the duty of canvassing the election returns of the Special election held on the 22nd day of August, 1925 in the said County of Indian River, and in the County of Brevard, State of Florida, in territory hereinafter described, do hereby certify that we met in the office of said Board of County Commissioners in Indian River County, Flo- rida in the Court House of said County on the let day of September A. D. 1925, and proceeded publicly to canvass the votes cast at said election as shown by the returns of said election duly made by the Inspectors and Clerks thereon, and we the Board do hereby certify from the said returns that the whole number of votes cast at said election within the boundaries of Fellsmere Cross State Road District in said County of Indian River was as follows: For Commissioners, Feliemere Cross State Road District: James Herndon received 125 votes E. W. Vickers,reeeived 149 votes J H Sutherland, received 108 votes J. LaBruee received 19 votes *ME Feazel, reoeived 54 votes Lucius Sloan received 13 votes Shall bonds in the sum of $200,000.00 be issued for the purpose of constructing a paved road across Saint Johns Earsh, near South boundary of Brevard County in Fellsmere Cross State Road District as provided in law creating said District: Yes: 173 votes were oast '"3C S" upon said issue of bonds. No: 5 votes were cast "NO" upon said issue of bonds. WITNESS our hand and official seal of said Board. BOARD OP COUNTY CONNISSIOIRS, ATTEST: By John H Atkin, Chairman. J. 3r. The following resolution was adopted: SAS there is not a sufficient amount of revenue on hand in the General Revenue Fund to meet the current and necessary expenses of the County to be paid from said Fund, and WHEREAS the Fine & Forfeiture Fund has a. large surplus of cash on hand at this time, over and above all necessary amounts for the proper conduct of the affairs of the County, THEREFORE be it resolved that the slam of $3,000.00 be transferred from the Fine & Forfeiture Fund to the General Revenue Fund, on approval only of the Comptroller of the State of Florida. Superintendent of Schools, W. E. Riggs, appeared before the Board regarding repairs over one mile road. It was ordered the County Engineer be instructed to place same in a passable condition if possible. It was ordered that the County Engineer be instructed to make a fill on road leading from Oslo Road South. It was ordered the County Engineer purchase the following: One Ford touring car chassis; One Ford touring Car body. One Ford Roadster with steel Truck body. One Ford Roadster with wood Truck body. One Ford Roadster with wood body. One Fordson Tractor and One Mowing Rachine. The following resolution was unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED that all maps or plats presented for the approval of this Board shall •e 24x28 inches in size and that the County Engineer of Indian River County be and he is Hereby designated as the accredited representative of this Board for the purpose of sassing on all maps or plats presented for the approval of this Board, and that all slats presented for the approval of this Board, be and they are hereby submitted to the ounty Engineer for his approval, and km if he finds that such plat or map so submitted s in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, and of the regulations prescribed •y this Board he shall endorse his apporval thereon as the accredited representative f this Board, and the plat or map may then be recorded in accordance with the provisions •f Chapter 10,275 Laws of Florida. If the County Engineer shall find that such plat or map does not meet the equirements of the laws of the State of Florida and the regulations of this Board, he =hall return the same to the owner or person submitting such plat or map, together witha speoification of the defects existing in such map or plat which prevents the approval of same. The amounts remaining on band in the several funds is as follows: GENERAL REVENUE FUND $ 524.21 FATE & FORFEITURE FUD 5660.23 ROAD & BRIDGE FUND. 12651.88 AGRICULTURAL FUND 958.18 MOTHER'S PENSION FUND 882.50 PUBLICITY FUND 743.56 Spec R &B Dist #1. 6657.60 IST & SINKING FUND 25615.89 TIISS IMEIR NT FUND of 192530094.71 There being no further boniness on motion made, seconded and carried the Board then adjourned until Tuesday October 6th 1925.
