Wednesday, March 25th 1936, with the foll- owing members of the Board presents J.J.P.Ramilton, Chairman; R jw.mudge; Frank C. Vickers; F. P. Thole and Hnwin A. helsetn. ,also present were miles Marren, Clerx and Mai Frick, Sheriff . The bond of x. H. Williams, as a Deputy Sherirr in the scam of V19000.00 with National surety Corporation, a corporation, as surety was approved. The following resolution was introduced: HN SOLUT T O.N OBIREAS, Peculiar and seasonal conditions exist in the Mate of Florida with regard to employment in that employment is more general in Florida in the winter months and de- creases greatly in the summer months by reason of the fact that the State has no tourist business, no citrus production, and no truck farming during said period; and 911N;REAS indications are that there will be serious unemployment in the State, o-;' Florida during the late spring and the summer months of 1936 and in fact to such a serious extent that Indian River Uounty, Florida, and the communities therein located will be unable to meet the necessary and absolutely minimum demands and needs for relief; and, wBEREA:S the vlorks Progress Administration program or the Federal government has been invaluable means of giving relief in : radian diver County, Florida, and in working out the relief program in said County and that without the operations of said works Progress Administration a most dangerous and unsatisfactory situation would have developed in the past and will develop in the late spring and the summer months of 1936, and VfEEREAS in addition to providing rol acute problem or relief and unemployment, works Progress Administration has been of great assistance to Indian River County, Florida in securing Uhd providing much needed roads and other permanent and necessary improvements which would not otherwise have been procurable by said County; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, being the legally constituted governing body of said county, does herewith endorse the works Progress administration program of the Federal government as an absolutely essential means of giving relief and employment in said County and does earnestly petition and request an immediate and generous allotment of additional funds to be used through said Works Progress Adminis- tration for meeting the unemployment situation in Indian River County, Florida and parti- cularly during the late spring and the sumer months of 1936. The motion for the adoption or the resolution being duly seconded the roll was called and the same was unanimously adopted.
