TUBjR Y, SFTEMBER lot 1936.
The Board of County Conuissioners in and for indian River County, Florida, met at the
Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, September lst 1936, with the
following members of the Board present: J.J.Y-Hamilton 9 Chairman; R. S. Mudge; E. P. Poole,
and Edwin A. Helseth. Absent Frank C. Vickers. .Also present were wm. Frick, Sheriff ,
Chas. A. Mitchell, attorney for the Board and Miles warrens Clerk.
Mrs Ralph Ashburn, widow, Fellemere appeared before the Board and advised that she had
a position in Alabama, but was unable to get to the point to work. :it was ordered that the
sum of 625.00 be appropriated out of the General Revenue fund to assist her in getting located
in permanent work, and that the warrant be issued to C. P. Diamond, Attorney, who is looking
after and assisting in getting her properly located.
Mrs Sophie xo sbottom, Chairman of the County .Manning Board appeared and inquired about
a road program of the County. She was advised that this Board had been informed that nothing
can be done except in localities where it is made to appear people cannot secure labor and
work for their livelihood. Bre Kosbottom requested that an appropriation be made to cover cost
of postage and stationery in connection with her work. it was ordered that the sum of :5..00
be appropriated for this necessary expenditure.
Mi ss Alice Helseth. Federal Narse appeared before the Board and presented applications for
Mothers Pensions of several applicants. The Board, after fully discussing the applications,
taking into consideration the condition of the respective applicants, it was ordered that the
following be placed on the Mothers Pension list to receive the amount indicated:
Mrs. Cassie Conniff, winter Beach, 010.00 per month
Mrs. Mary J. Law, Vero Beach, * 8.00 per month
Mrs Jessie Yates, Vero Beach, appeared before the Board and requested aid from the County
to assist in sending her children to school during the approaching term. :fib action was teen.
Mrs Floyd McCall, Gifford, presented a bill for attending John H. McLean, in the sum of
$10.00. it was ordered that the bill be paid and the sum of 1;10.00 only be appropriated for
McLean for the month of September 1936.
The Notary Public bond of Charles C. Jewett in the sum of X500.00 with the &merican Surety
Company, a corporation, as surety was approved.
`.rhe Notary Public bond of Josephine Shearer in the sum of *500.00 with American Surety
Company, a corporation, was approved.
Miss Manilla Wells, Home Demonstration agent for the past year appeared before the Board
and made a verbal report of all her activities and requested that an appropriation be made
for the next Tical year beginning October lot to carry on the work. The Board advised Miss
Wells that the budget for the next year had already been prepared, finally adopted and approved
and no change can now be made therein.
Felix C. Poppell appeared before the Board urging that additional grounds be purchased by
the County for .cemetery purposes at the Minter Beach cemetery. He was advised the Board lwill
make the purchase.
it was ordered that warrant be drawn on the General Revenue Fund in the sum of jk 414.00
payable to the Board of Social velfare, -State of Florida# and transmissted to Conrad Van Hyning,
Chairman of such Board, Jacksonville, Ylorida, to meet old age pensions for the period uctober
let to January lot 1937, to be paid in this County. The Board after carefully considering the
ages and necessity for assistapop, ordered that the following persons be paid the amount
indicated:

The County Board of Public :instructions having requested that a deed be executed by the
Uounty to the School Board for a small piece of property near the jail for school purposes,
and the Board having fully discussed and considered the matter it was ordered that the Chair,
mand and Clerk execute deed to the following described property: Beginning at the North-east
corner of the S.W.1/4 of the -S.E.1/4 of Section 2. Township 33 South, Range 39 East, and go
vest 300 feet, thence South 660 feet, thence East 300 feet, thence North 660 feeth to point
og beginning. Such property to be used for school purposes only.

`.fie following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Helseth, who moved its adoptio
WWMAS, the Board of Administration has submitted certain proposals of firms, indivi-
duals and corporations offering to sell to said Board of Administration certain bonds of they
County of india.n River and obligations assumed by said County, under the provisions of House
Bill No. 30, pacts of the 1933 Legislature, and
WHEREAS, after carefully considering all of such proposals, and taking into considera-
tion the amount of funds available for that purpose and the approximate value of said bonds,
and obligations, it is deemed advisable and expedient to purchase certain of said bonds
and obligations, to -wit:
One Wabesso Bridge District 67o bond dated July 1, 1926 due July
1, 1953 at a price of 75 flat, as designated offering "a".
One St -Lucie County Road & Bridge °rime warrants 6�6 due June 1935,
at a price of 81 flat, as designated offering "B".
`L'HEREFOHE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Administration be requested to purchase
the foregoing bonds and obligations assumed by this County in accordance with the terms of
offerings as submitted.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Poole, and upon being put
to a vote the same was unanimously adopted.
The several bills and accounts against the County having been audited, were examined
found correct, were approved and warrents ordered issued in settlement of same. Thewa.rrants
so issued, from the respective funds, being listed completely in the County Finance Record
as provided by law, reference to said record and the list so recorded being made a part of
these minutes.
The County depository filed its monthly statement of receipts and disbursements of the
several funds of the County, which having been check, was found to be correct.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adjourned until the regular meeting to be held in October 1936.
