Tuesday, January 5th. 19379 with the following members of the Board present; E.P.Poole, R.E.M dge, Edwin A. Helsetih, S.E.Glover and Fronk C. Vickers. Also present were Willi—am Frick, Sheriff, Chas. A. Mitchell, Attorney, James T. Vocelle Attorney and Douglas Baker, Clerk. On motion made by S.E.Glover and seconded by Frank C. Vickers and carried R.E.Mudge was unanimously seleatited as Chairman of the Board for the year 1937. On motion made by Edwin A. Helseth and seconded by S.3.Glover the firm of Voce lle and per, ftibnth Mitchell be employed as Attorney for this Board at a salary of $ 75. /to cover all fees# compensation and expenses,excepting only actual traveling expenses when sent outside the 9th. Judicial Circuit by the Baarct. The motion was unrmimou4y adopted. It WK -6 m6fe-d `by 8'63. Glover and seconded by_ E.P.Poole that the salary . of 'Douglas Bake r' Clerk of the Circ#tr'Coutt,'aa Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners be fixed at 10000 per mpnth. The motion was unanimously adopted.: It was moved by S.E. Glover and seconded by Frank C. Vickers that the Road Superintende be selected in executive session. The motion was unanimously adopted. Frank A. Knight was selected Road 'Superintendent. In open session it was moved by S.E.Glover and seconded by E.P.Ibole that Frank .A. Knight be appointed. The appointment was made uwimouslo. It was moved -by Edwin A. Helseth and seconded by Fraalnk C. Vickers that the salary of Frank &. Knight, Road Superintendent, 'be fixed at $100.00 per month. The motion was unanimously adopted. It was moved by E.P.Poole and seconded by S.E.Glover that Frank Behler be employed as Janitor at a, salary to be fixed when moved into the New Court House. The motion was unan- imously adopted* and carried It was moved by Frank C. Vickers and seconded by Edwin A. Helseth/that E.P.Poole be appointed to a6ft er with City Authorities regarding the basis or terms on which they would be willing to co-operate with this Board, with reference to care of the New Court House Grounds* and unanimously carried On motion made by E.P.Poole and seconded by Edwin A. Helseth,/Commissioner S.E.Glover, who had been elected at the election of November 3rd. 1936 and representing Districh. No. 49 was given , the authority to appoint the Minter Beach Bridge Tender, Commissioner S.E.Glover appointed C .Z.Ande rson as Wi me r Beach Bridge Tende r. On motion made by S.E.Glover and seconded by Edwin A. Helseth, C.E..Anderson was appointed Minter Beach Bridge Tender at a salary fixed at $60.00 per month. The motion was unanimously adopted. Mrs Edna. Loudermilk appeared before the Board and asked for a -s aistance in moving her household furnishings to Sebastian, Fla. Frank A. Knight, Road Superintendent, was instructed to move said furnishings belonging to Mrs Edna Loudermilk to Sebastian, Fla., _y. On motion made by E.P.Poole, seconded by Frank C. Vickers and unanimously carried Frank A. Knight, Road Superintendent, waa requested to make surveys of all roads and bridges in each district and report to this Board. kA . It was requested that the Vero Beach -Press Journal submit cost to.. pubiish the minutes of the Commissioners meetings should they deem it advisable to ato so. R. It was ordered that Mrs Daisy Barker, Wabasso, Fla,., be stricken from the paupers' La s she ib now employed. _— -- I. 1 1 I. 1 Miss Leila M. Bunkley, County Nurse, appeared before the Board and made a verbal report of her activities for the month of December 1936. She reported on the case of Mrs J .D. Car ter, Winter Beach, Fla,, and mentioned that one of her boys would soon be attending C.C.C€amp and that she would receive $25.00 per month from that source. Miss Bunkley also presented bill from L.P.Simmonds Dry Goods Company in the amount of $8.30 for clothing on account of Mr Owens 4nd also reported the Red Cross paid for glasses in the Shaw case: She also reported 75 families having received food and or clothing throught the community ,s fund. It was moved by E.P.Poole,seconded by Edwin .A. Helseth and unanimously carried that the monthly cpmpensation to the County Judge, for handling Juvenile cases be fixed at $250'00 per month. Mr G. Te rry Robinson appeared before the Board regarding the purchase of a lawn mower f or the Jail and Courthouse lawns and asked for consideration on his lawn mower when and if the Board decided to purchase one. of Social Service Miss Mary Percival, Staperintendent/of this district No. 4 including Martin, 'St. Lucie, Okeechobee and Indian River Counties, appeared before the Board in connection with the fork. W.H.Garns, employed by this Board as their represenative on the job of constructing the new Court House, appeared before this Board in connection with the Furniture and Fixtures for the New Court House. Mr Garns Was instructed to contact each of the Off ici6ls Of the various offices and obtain specifications on the 'Furniture and Fixtures necessary to be used in the offices and court room of the new Court House and report this information to the Bo €ard. Mr E.GeMfiberg, appeared before the Board with reference to road leading from highwnyy to hi's place. action was deferred to a later date*' Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to notif$ Frank A. Knight, Road Superintendent, to proceed with the filling and grading of the new Court House grounds. C. P. Relseth, and seconded by Commissioner E, P. Poole and unanimously carried, that we an individuals and collectively as a Board, accept the Jurors as selected and placed in the Jury Box* The several bills and -accounts against the County having been audited were examined and found correct, were -approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same, such bills being on file in the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the supplemental minute Book as required by the rules and practive of.the State Auditing -Department, reference to'such list being sade a part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out -herein -in detail, There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board adjourned to meet on Tuesday, January 12, 19379 at 9:00 orolook A. Tuesday, January 12th. 1937, in adjourned meeting with the following members of the Board present; R.E.Mudge, Chairman; Edwin A. Helseth, S.E.Glover, E.P.Poole, bnd Frank C. Vickers, also present were Ma. Frick, Sheriff, Chas. A. Mitchell, ,Attorney for the Board and Douglas Bakers Clerk. The minutes of January 5th. 1937, were read and approved. Mr Claude Mbehael, Wabasso, Flo,. , appeared before the Board and requested that the River Road between Winter Beach and Whbasa -) be improved and or put in order. It was moved by Commissioner Ed- in A. Helseth and seconded by Commissioner and carried E.P.Poole/that the River Road between Minter Beach and Wabasso also the road south of -Sexton's dairy, between Clemann Avenue and Lateral IIA09 and about one mile of road e running west and beyond the paving on Glenda.l .Avenue be put in order. The Bond of F. L. Foote, as Deputy Sheriff in and for Fellsm.ere, Fla., in the sum of 1000.00 with J. J. Bustin and Samuel Menah, as sureties was approved.
