Relseth, and seconded by Commissioner E, P. Poole and unanimously carried, that we an individuals and collectively as a Board, accept the Jurors as selected and placed in the Jury Box* The several bills and -accounts against the County having been audited were examined and found correct, were -approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same, such bills being on file in the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the supplemental minute Book as required by the rules and practive of.the State Auditing -Department, reference to'such list being sade a part of these minutes as fully and completely as if the same were set out -herein -in detail, There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board adjourned to meet on Tuesday, January 12, 19379 at 9:00 orolook A. Tuesday, January 12th. 1937, in adjourned meeting with the following members of the Board present; R.E.Mudge, Chairman; Edwin A. Helseth, S.E.Glover, E.P.Poole, bnd Frank C. Vickers, also present were Ma. Frick, Sheriff, Chas. A. Mitchell, ,Attorney for the Board and Douglas Bakers Clerk. The minutes of January 5th. 1937, were read and approved. Mr Claude Mbehael, Wabasso, Flo,. , appeared before the Board and requested that the River Road between Winter Beach and Whbasa -) be improved and or put in order. It was moved by Commissioner Ed- in A. Helseth and seconded by Commissioner and carried E.P.Poole/that the River Road between Minter Beach and Wabasso also the road south of -Sexton's dairy, between Clemann Avenue and Lateral IIA09 and about one mile of road e running west and beyond the paving on Glenda.l .Avenue be put in order. The Bond of F. L. Foote, as Deputy Sheriff in and for Fellsm.ere, Fla., in the sum of 1000.00 with J. J. Bustin and Samuel Menah, as sureties was approved. r s� mr J. P. Sibley, Wabasso, Flo,., appeared before the Board and requested the use of the County Dredge f•or the purpose of filling: the holey and grading on the road through his upper plaice in Wabasso, Fla. Mr Sibley stated. that he- would be willing to pay the County approximately $75.00 for the Dredge and Driver for about- 3 days. No action was token by the Board. A request from Bliss Ruth B. Owen,of the Works Progress Administration, that the federal unit be allowed an office in the new Court Howe. was referred to Commissioners Ed*.n A* Helseth and E. P. Poole in order that they might survey the situation and report their findings to the Board. . Fronk A. Knight, Road Superintendent, mode a verbal report to the Board on roods and bridges. A tenantive list of equipment for the various offices in the new Court House, exceptin6 the Court Room, was prepared and presented to the Board by Mr Davis and Mr Rice. No action was taken by the Board. It, was moved by Edwin A. Helseth and seconded by Frank C. Vickers and carried that Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board, and W*H.Gorns, Architect and Supervisor of the - with P.W.A. offici new Cpurt House project, go to Jacksonville, Fla. aa„nft endeavor to arrange/for the removal of County offices into the new Court House at once . i Manley Kersey nppeared before the Board and requested that he be permitted to rent ihe' County Road Roller for one day. This request was granted for aa. consideration of. $ 10.00 and this amount was paid to the Clerk, Douglas Baker.. It was moved by E. P. Poole and seconded by Edwin A. Helseth and carried that any County equipment rented in the future would be rented only when accompanied by a County Operator and or Employee. / W.H.Garns, architect aid supervisor of the new Court House, presented plans and or specifications for Colored Toilets in connection with the New Court House. He stated the approximate total cost, according to plans and specifications submitted, would be $ 1600.00 No action was taken by the Board. An invitation was reveaived .from the Ft. Pierce Chamber of Commerce to place an exibit of Indiaan River County,in their fair to be field January 25th. to 30th. 1937. This was re- ferred to our Secretary of Chamber of Commerce, E. G. Thatcher with power to act without expense to the County. ` On motion made by Edwin A. Helseth and seconded by S.E.Glover and carried Douglas Baker, Clerk and ".n. Frick, ;Sheriff, were appointed as a committee to obtain bids and or estimates and to have the lowest bidder move the county safe, being used by the Clerk, to the new Court House. Commissioner E. P. Poole introduced the following resolution and moved its adoptions to -wits Wherene, Indian River County, Florida has been engaged in the construction of a County Court House at Vero Beaach, Florida under and by virtue of a grant and loan from the Public Works Administration of the Federal Government; and Whereas, H. E. Herrmaa,n, throughout the major period of time that such Court House has been under construction, has been the resident engineer and inspector on behalf of the Public Works Administration and for the said project; and Whereas, during the period of time that the said Mr H. E. Herrman has been such residen engineer and inspector the work on said prof ect: hays proceeded rapidly and Indian River County and the contractor on the said job and all other persons concerned have enjoyed the greatest possible cooperation and assistance from the said H.E.Herrman and the progress in the const - traction of said Court House has been greatly facilitated through the efforts of Mr Herrmann; therefore, 1 1 1 1 L_ 89 Be It resolved that the Board of County Commissioners for Indian River County, Florida does herewith extend its thanks -€end appreciation to Thr Herman for his cooperation and assistance as aforesaid and does express its regret on his being transferred to other projects at this time. Be it further resolved that a certified copy of this resolution be fomarded to fir. He rrman and a certified copy thereof be forrded to Honorable James E. Cottoforwarded Acting Director, Public Works .Administration for Florida. The motion for the adoption of the resolution being duly seconded it vias declared adopted upon the following vote: Ayes: Mudge, Helseth, Poole, Glover and Vickers. Nays: Done. Vlovellei to -11t: Comm issioftr Poole introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption, 'tereas, Indian River County, Florida, by Its Board of County Casu4seioners did, under date of February 17, 19136, eater into a contract with Bm, Rejuslok of Vere Beach, Florida for the construction of a tw* story fireproof County Court House at azd for the num of 865,1506009 being PWA project No,, 4020 R; and Whereas, the oontraotor is about to couplete the said aODmtrAaot; and whereas, the lease On the present quartos for the temporary Court House of said County has expired; and whereas, it in the desire of the Board Of County Qo ;isaioners to nerve into the newly constructed Court House at the earliest possible moment owing to the expiration or its lease and the danger or fire to its records in the present buildg; axed whereas, the County has sufficient furniture and equipment to occupy the new Court House buildixlg; therefare, Be It Resolved by the Board of County Ca szloners or Indian River County that request be, and the same i+s, herpby made of the Public Works Adan stratlan for permission to move into the newly constructed Court House ismaediately upon Its acceptance ;from the con- tractor by the County, The ftregoing resolution was duly seconded and upon being put to vote was unanipw mously adapted as follows: Ayes: wage, Poole, Clever and Vickers, Nays: long
