On motion made by Edwin A, Helseth seconded by E,P.Poole and carried it was ordered
that the Board advertise for bids on Drag Line Machine according to specificatiofts as outline8g
in notice and that bids. -will be received up to 10:00 o'clock A.M. Tuesday May 25th. 1937.
Mr.'Arthur Hillbrath representing the Dixie Culvert & Metal Co, appeared before the
Board with reference to Armco Culverts Asbestos Bonded and Bituminous Coated, and it was or-
dered that said culverts be purchased for the sum of- $220.00. �
Mro Lloyd L.Nelson appeared before the Board and requested that a bridge be cogstru•i
cted over a lateral west of nth*s tourist camp which would be necessary in order that he
have access to•his property which consisted of -about 40 acres and that he -intended to build a !
home on said"property in the near future. Frank A,Knight, Road Superintendant, stated it woul&
cost approximately $150#00 to build a suitable bridge and after consideration the Board order
ed the bridge built. j
Applications for Mothers' pension were submitted by Elizabeth McNeal, Winter Beach,
Fla. and Ethel Chappell Peddie, Fero Beach, Fla. and after careful consideration the Board
approved both applications and it was -ordered that Mrs. McNeal receive the sum of $15.00 per
month and Mrs. Peddie to receive the sum of $10.00 per month until the further orders of the
Board. - .
RESOLUTION,
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Vickers, who moved its ad-
option:
WMEAS, The State Board of Administration has submitted certain proposals.of indi-
viduals, firms and corporations offering to sell to said Board of Administration certain bond
of Indian River County, and obligations assumed by said County, under the provisions of House
Bill No. 30, actw of the 1933 Legislature; and
AREA:, after carefully considering all of such proposals, and taking into consid-
eration the amount of funds available for that purpose, and the approximate value of said bon
and obligations, it is deemed advisable and expedient to purchase certain of said bonds and
obligations to -wit:
Two (2 Indian River Count Special R & B #4 6% Bonds, dated July 1, 1925, due July
1, 1942, at a price of 90 flat with 5uly 1, 1934 and subsequent coupons attached, as design- of
ated offering "B".
One (1) St, Lucie County Quay Bridge District 6% bonds, dated December 1, 1922, due
December 1, 19369 at a price of 95 flat, with no past due coupons attached, as designated off -I
#ring "C",
One (1) Indian River County Wabasso Bridge District 6% Bonds, dated July 1,1926,67ded
due,,1939; at.,a price of 90 flat with July 1, 1934 and subsequent.coupons attached, as design-
ated offering "D".
Two (2) St. Lucie Co. H*way 6% Bonds, dated February 1, 1920,due February 1, 19399
at a price of 83 flat with August 1, 1933 and subsequent coupons attached, as designated off-
ering "I".
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners, that the State Board!I ,
of Administration be requested to purchase the securities listed above at the price quoted,
The resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Poole and upon being put to a vote
the same was unanimously adopted.
The several Bills and Accounts against the County, having beenkudited.were examined '+4
and found correct were approved, and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bills,d,
and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk Circuit Court. The Warrants issued from r,
the respective funds being listed,in the supplemental minute book as required by the rules emdi
practiae of the State Auditing Department,reference to said record and the list so recorded
being made a part of these minutes, l
The County Depository filed its monthly statement,showing receipts and disbursments 11
of the various funds which having been audited was found to be correct.
There being no further business the Board on motion made, seconded and carried ad-

the Court House in Vero Beach, in regular adjourned sedsion, at 10:00 o'clock A.M. Tuesday,

After the opening of the bids, it was decided to go into Executive Session for the
discussion of above bids.
After comparison of the various bids, and discussion, Notion was made by Commissioner
Edwin A. Helseth, and seconded by Commissioner S. E. Glover, and ux+iansly adopted, that the
Bid of Balm Beach Typewriter Company in the amount of $4,1.70.30, be accepted.

A Committee consisting of the following persons, to -wit:- Valter S. Buckingham,, as
Chairman, yrs. Paul Luther, Mrs. A. C. Helseth, Mrs. J. N. Crowley, Stanley V. Buss, 0. L:
DuBose, and L. T. King, appeared before the Board, with Resolutions, Letters and Petitions,
requesting and appealing the Board to appropriate and pay -the sum of $500.00 toward defraying
the expenses in sending the Vero Beach School Band to participate in the National Contest to
be held at Rock Hill., South Carolina. After considerable discussion and careful consideration,
in which ers of the BoaAd indicated their willingness to make individual contributions,
it was agreed by the Board that it would not be wise to use County Funds to help defray the
Bands expenses, in view of the fact that County roads and bridges are badly in need of repairs,
with limited funds available and too because of the fact that there are no funds in the adver-
tising fund..
RESOLUT ICON
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner E. P. Poole.
1HERFAS, the City of Vero Beach, Florida, has made certain claims against Indian
River County by reason of the collection of road and bridge taxes within said City limits and
the alleged nflru*payment of same by the County to said City, and
WHOSAS, the---City--of Vero Beach has an interest in certain property known as McAnsh
Park, which interest if holds for the public benefit, and
SEAS, there are certain unpald taxes against said NcAnsh Bark due the State of
Florida, the County of Indian River and certain special taxing districts therein, and.
SEAS, it would be a great burden on the taxpayers of Indian River County to pay
the claim of the City of Vero Beach in, cash, and
SEAS, the City of Vero Beach has indicated its willingness to adjust its differ-
ences with the County by the County writing off the taxes against said property known as NcAnsh
Park, therefore,
BE IT. RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida,
that the Hon. Eli C. Walker, our representative, and Hon. A. 0. Kanner, our Senator, be, and
they are, hereby requested to introduce and pass at the present session of the Florida Legis-
lature a bill to cancel all outstanding state, county and special district taxes against the
property in Vero Beach known as NcAnsh Park, and in which said city has an interest, and that
such cancellation be accepted by said city in full settlement of all claims that it has against
Indian River County to and including November 1, 1937.
The Notion for the adoption of the Resolution being duly seconded by Commissioner
Frank C. Vickers, it was declared adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Nudge, Poole, Helseth, Vickers and. Clover.
Hayes: None.
Mrs. Ida Mae Sconyers appeared before the Board and requested aid during the time
her husband is
in Jail. She has three
small children and
is in need of assistance. Upon Notion

during the sixty (60) days period, the first payment to be of this date. Notion carried.
After considerable discussion as to Prisoners working in Stockade, the expense and
every detail in connection therewith, upon Notion by Comp. Edwin A. Heuiatl4eieconded by Cam.
Frank. C. Vickers, the Clerk was instructed to write Commissioner of Agriculture, Hon. Nathan
Kayo,, for information as to Rules and Regulations with which Commissioners must comply, in or-
der to work Prisoners on the roads and bridges of Indian River County. Motion carried.
The request of A. J. Byrd for permission to piaat trees on road side was discused,
and Notion was made by Commissioner Frank C. Vickers, seconded by Commissioner S. E. Glover,
and carried, that Mr. Byrd be permitted to plant trees as he requested.

The request and requisition of Hoa, Geo. V. Walters, for necessary supplies be order
-ed for him, it was decided after discussion, that Justice of the Peace furnish his own sup-
plies.
The Letter from fir. D. C. Smith, with reference to Acgount due Pauly .Jail. Building
Company, end the Board instructed the Clerk to search records, and write ,for statement.
There being no further business on motion lade, seconded and carried the Board then
