WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23rd., 1937.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida_, met at
the Court House in Vero Beach, in regular adjourned session, at 9:00 o'clock A. K. Wed-
nesday, June 23rd., 1937, with the following memembers present; R.E.Mudge, Chairman;
Edwin A. Helseth; Frank C. Vickers and S. E. Glover. Also present were Wm. Frick, Sheriff,
Chas. A. Kitchell, Attorney for the Board and Douglas Baker, Clerk. Absent, E. P. Poole.
Considerable discussion and consideration was made and given to the preparation
of the budget for the year 1937-1938.
It was ordered that a warrant in the sum of $1515.91 and payable to the Pauly Jail
Company be drawn on the Outstanding Indebtedness Fund for settlement in full for all claims
held against Indian River County in connection with issuance of Time Warrants and constructi
of Jail.
There being no further business on motion made seconded and carried the Board then
adjourned untill the regular meeting to be held in July, which shall be the first Monday in
July, as provided by law.

MONDAY. JULY 5th., 1937.
The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met in the Office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court at Vero Beach, in the County of Indian River, on this the 5th.
Day of July, 1937, and the following County Commissioners were present; R. E. -Mudge,
Chairman; E. P. Poole, S. E. Glover, Edwin A. Helseth and Frank C. Vickers.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court having prepared estimates of the revenue and receipts
from sources other than from taxes to be levied, reasonably to be expected from the first
day of October 1937 to the 30th day of September 1938, the said estimates having been prop-
erly verified under oath were ordered spread upon the minutes of the Board and the original
to be filed as part of the records of the Board, and is in words and figures as follows: -

The Tax Assessor having presented his books showing the assessed valuation of propert
for examination by the Board in compliance with the requirements of Section 934 of the c
iled laws of Florida, and the Board of County Commissioners having given notice of fifteen
days by publication in the Vero Beach -Press -Journal, a newspaper published in Vero Beach, ink
the County of Indian River, that the Board would meet on this day as a Board of Equalizers
for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any propert;
real, personal or mixed, as fixed by the County Tax Assessor of taxes for assessment for the
taxes for the year 1937,/the owners and agents of property, who appeared for that purpose,
were allowed to make full and complete statements as to the valuation of rthe property owned
or represented by them and -the Tax Assessor and the members of the Board having fully dis-
duesed the statements and -)facts as presented decided that no changes will be made in the
assessments as fixed and prepared by the Tax Assessor of taxes for the year 1937.
The board then proceeded to attend to and dispose of such matters as regularly come
before the Board of County Commissioners.
On motion made by Edwin A. Helseth seconded by S. E. Glover and carried it was o
that the sum of $1037.40 be included in the budget for 1937-1938 for the purpose of assis
for Tuberculosis patients.
W. R. Duncan, Tax Assessor requested permission from the Board to purchase a 32 inch
carriage typewriter for the Tax Assessors' office. This request was granted.
The County Depository filed its monthly statement showing receipts and disbursments

The Board then adjourned untill tomorrow morning at 9:30 o'clock.

at 9:30 O'clock A, M.
