There being no further business, on motion duly made-, seconded and carried the Board adjourned until theregular meeting in November 1925. 0000000000000 TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3rd, 1925. The J3oard of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday November 3rd 1925, with the following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Chairman; G. A. Braddock; J. W. LaBruce; Donald Forbes and 0. 0. Helseth. Also present was Miles °warren, Clerk. The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. The notary Public bond of S. B. Smith, in the sum of $500 00 with the American Surety Company, a corporation, as surety was approved. Mrs. A. W. Young and other ladies appeared before the Board with respect to the employment of a County nurse. After some discussion, it was ordered that a Nurse be employed at a salary of $150.00 per month for the next seven months, and was employed as such. The Bond of 1'red E King, as Justice of the Peace, District No. 5 in the sum of $500.00 with Henry 0. Sharpley and Chas J. Brown as sureties was approved. Mr. H. W. Damerow and W. J. Maher appeared before the Board with respect to securing rights-of-way for Ocean Driveway in the County. The County Engineer was instructed to erect a sign at the North and South mat boundary line of the County to inform the traveling public that. the Highway is patrolled by traffic officer. The Deputy Sheriff bond of William Frick, in the sum of $1,000.00 with William Atkin and Nellie M. Babb, as sureties was approved. The County Judge filed his report of real estate licenses issued for the month of October showing 0350.00 collected for the State; $175.00 Collected for the County and $70.00 collected for the Florida Real Estate Board. It was ordered that the Clerk be instructed to write C. C. Braswell to put the road from the Dixie Highway to the quay Bridge in as good condition as it was before it was damaged by his employees. Also that in the future all road work must be done under the direction and supervision of the County Engineer, whether by individuals or the County itself. The Board then goes recessed until 1:30 P.R. The J3oard of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County re -convened at the Court House at 1:30 P.k.this date pursuant to recess of fore -noon. The following members of the Board were present: John H Atkin, Chaiman; G. A. Braddock; J. W. LaBruce; Donald Forbes and°. 0. Helseth. Also present was Miles Warren, Clerk. It was ordered that the Clerk write the Biscayne finance Company or R. E. Abbott, its President that the offer for Court house site and Jail and financial donationo offere was received, read and filed for future consideration. The following Road petition was received and read: ROAD PETITION STATE OF FLORIDA ) COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of said County: Gentlemen: We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at The south city limits of Vero Beach, Fla. thence running Southerly along the ocean beach to the South line of Indian River County. Said road right-of-way to be not less than eighty feet in width. We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of One dollar to us each and sever ally in hand paid by the said County of Indian River the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims for damage by reason thereof. It was ordered that the petition be filed and D. L. Leisher,W. J. Maher and Albert 0. Helseth be appointed viewers to view mark mid and lay out the road and report to this Board. It was ordered that the Chairman and the County .engineer be authorized to purchase a site for tool house and etc. for the best available price not to exceed 000.00 per acre. The following with respect to Culverts was adopted: 1. That all flumes, culverts, wood boxes, etc., now in existence, crossing under an of the roads to be paved under the Special Road and Bridge District #4 bond issue of July 1, 1925, shall be replaced or permanent culverts oropipes of terra cotta, cast iron, galvanized iron (of an approved gage), or other permanent and durable material. 2. That these culverts shall be installed by the property owner maintaining the drainage ditches served thereby. This work shall be done well in advance of any grading on the section of the road affected. The work of installing these culverts shall be don under the direction and in accordance with plans prepared by the County Engineer. 3. That the County Engineer be instructed to maintain at the County garage a supple of the sizes and types needed for sale to the property owners desiring the same for use under this resolution at cost plus an allowance for overhead. 4. That on all ditches, culverts not meeting with the requirements of this resolu- tion at such time as the work of construction shall require, the County shall proceed to remove the existing culvert and close the ditch. it was ordered that the County Engineer be instructed to open up Clemmons Ave,Road from 'Barber Ave. to South Gifford road, to -wit: That part of said road lying beyond the limits of the City of Vero Beach. The Board agreed to defray the expenses of removing an aged blined lady from this County to her people at Ocala and pay the expenses of some person to accompany her to th:t point. The Clerk was instructed to write the Board of County Commissioners of St.Lucie County #tet and ascertain whether or not the County has deed to Right-of-way for public road inthe Ercildourne property in the Northern part of the County. It was ordered that the Clerk notify the Sheriff to deliver R. G. McCain to the County Engineer for road work during the term of sentence imposed upon him. The several bills against the County were examined, audited and found correct, and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. The amount: so drawn from the respective funds is as follows: GENERAL REVENUE FUND:. $5539.36 FINE & FORFEITURE FUND 722.84 Road and Bridge 2666.79 Mothers' Pension Fund 158.00 Interest & Sinking Fund1201.65 The County Depositories of the County filed their monthly statement showing the balance on hand in the respective funds of the County. The Minuts of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Deputy Sheriff bond of noy F. Preston land and R.J.Dunnam as sureties was approved. The Notary Public Bond of Robert Evans in in the sum of 01,000.00 with J.H.Suther- the sum of 0500.00 with the American Surety Company of Bew York, a corporation, xxas surety was approved. The County Judge filed his report of Real Estate License issued showing 0970.00 collected for the State; 4194.00 for the real Estate Board and $490.00 collected for the County.
