Halseth and unanimously carr- ied that the County purchase a motor patrol and other equipment for the Road and Bridge Depart- ment of Indian River .County. The Board�of.County Commissioners of Indian River County -met at the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M, Tuesday, September 2, 1941, in regular meeting*with the following members of.the Board present: C. S. Michael, Chairman; S. 'Be Glover, Albert 0. Hel- seth, W, C. Graves.4r., and. Frank C.. Vickers. -Also present ,were Wm. W. Frick, ,Sheriff, Charles A. Mithcell, Attorney for the Board, and Douglas Baker, Clerk. The tax books being reedy to be returned to the Tax Assessor for the purpose of ex- tending the taxes thereon as provided by law the -Board of County Commissioners took up the matter of making an -estimate of the necessary expenses for the fiscal year from ©ctober 1st, 1941 to the 30th day of September, 1942, and having considered the receipts estimated by the Clerk and the Tax Assessor having given full consideration to the needs and necessities of the County and the requirements for the different purposes to meet the expenses during the said fiscal year, have determined and do hereby declare -the following to be the expenses and all special and extraordinary expenses contemplated for the fiscal year next ensuing and for which the revenue for the year 1941 from ad valorem taxation and the estimated receipts from other sources will be available.. 100 40:411M,14_110041143 1 i 211. Toole and Graves Wilhoit appeared before the Board in the interest of purchasing Fire Trucks and Equipment for the pro= tection of Residents,Jand Grove.Owners of Indian River County. Considerable discussion pro and con on the matter was had but no action taken. Mr. C. A. Routh appeared before the Board and presented an, application for the appoint went on the Rural'Housing Authority and requested his name be recommended to the Governor of Florida as such applicant. The.Board advised Mr.._Routh that the name of A. G. Even had been recommended to -Ron. Pat.Cannon, Congressmen, during the month of June 1941 and that they hesi- tated in making another recommendation until such time --as they had been requested to do so and to their knowledge such a request had not been made _at this time. The sum of $130,00 was appropriated for an exhibit from Indian River County to be used in the Tampa and Orlando Fairs in the near future The motion was made by W. C. Graves,;r. seconded by Commissioner Vickers and unanimously carried. Complying with a law enacted by the recent State Legislature, surety Bonds were ap- proved for Wm. W. Friok, Sheriff and Otis M. Cobb,County Judge, each in the sum of $2000.00 wi the U. S. Fidelity & Guaranty Company as surety. Surety Bond for W. R._Dunoan, Tax Assessor, in the sum of $1000.00 with U..S.-Fidelity & Guaranty Company as surety was approved. :..Notary Public Bond for. Catharine Jennings,.in.the sum of $500.00 with American Surety Company of New York as surety, wqs approved. At the request of Sheriff. - Wm. .W. Friok, the Board authorized repairs to the Jail ro •which was reported leaking. On motion made by S..B. Glover,seconded by W. C. Graves ;r., and unanimously carried it.was ordered that Mitchell, Smith & Mitchell, Attorneys to the.Board, be paid the sum of $250 each month for stenographic work and postage, effective September 2, 1941, until the further orders of the Board. On motion made by Frank C. Vickers, seconded by S. E. Glover and unanimously carried it was ordered that Douglas Baker, Clerk, be paid the sum of $25.00 each month, as additional salary for the Clerk to the Board. of County Commissioners, until the further orders of the Board, this order effective feptember 2, 1941. Cooperative Agreement concerning aerial photographs was presented to the Board by Lyman L. Twitchell, however, the Board decided that it was impossible to purchase the set of photographs at the present time, but it was the desire of the Board to try and work out some pian in the future whereby the purchase might be made. The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited were examined 526 ,t'and found correct, were approved and warrants ordered issued in stttement of same. Such bills $nd accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental minute book as provided by the rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes. The County Depository filed its monthly statement_.,. showing receipts and disbursements of the various funds which having been audited was found to be correct. There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried the Board then adjorned until September 11, 1941. Glover and unanimously carried, the following wire was sent to -the State Board of Administration, Tallahassee, Florida September 119 1941 The State Board of Administration Tallahassee, Florida Please include Indian River County Special Road and Bridge District number Four bonds among issues upon which Kanner Bill offerings are called for this month. Frick stated that it was necessary for the Board to purchase a new stove and heater for the Jail. Therefore the Board inatuoted the Clerk to write to the follow- ing Companies, requesting sealed bids on or before 12:00 o'clock noon, Thursday, September 180 1941, on one four burner (including one giant burner) bottle or tank gas stove with level ser- vice top. Also one twenty gallon Hot Water tank, automatic, fully insulated and fully approved. Also to advise said Companies that a used wood stove and used water heater would be traded in on the new equipment.
