The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday June 1st 1926, with the following members of the Board present: John H. .Atkin, Chairman; G. A. Braddock; J. W. LaBruce; Donald Forbes and 0. 0. Helseth. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and J. W. Knight,Sheriff. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved. The following names having been certified by the Secretary of State under date of May 11, 1926, as candidates for the .State offices set opposite their respective names, same were ordered placed on the official primary ballot of the Democratic Party for the primary election to be held Tuesday June 8th 1926. • UNITED STATES SENATOR. Jennings The following names having been certified by the Secretary of State under date of May 11, 1926 as candidates for State office set opposite their respective names, same were ordered omitted from the official ballot of Indian River County, and are hereby declared to be the Democratic Nominee for such office having been nominated without opposition. Rivers Buford The Secretary of State having under date of May 19th 1926 certified to this Board that Angus Sumner and Edwin Brobston, candidates for State Attorney, Twenty-first Judi- cial Circuit of Florida, having failed to file their sworn statement of campaign expenses as required by law, were deolared eliminated as such candidates, and the Secretary of State having filed an additional certificate under date of May 19, 1926 declaring Alto Adams, candidate for such office to be the only candidate who had filed sworn itemized statement of his campaign expenses with such Secretary of State as required by law, he was declared the Democratic Nominee for such office. In compliance with law and the certificates of the Secretary of State, Alto Adams, candidate for State Attorney for the Twenty-first Judicial Circuit of Florida is hereby certified by this Board to be the Democratic nominee for such office. It was ordered that the Clerk of this Board have printed the ballots for such primary election and prepare the ballot boxes and deliver to the Sheriff for distribution to the various precincts of the County. The Clerk announced a total of 063.00 had been paid in by all the candidates for various offices as their filing fee and same was ordered placed in the General Revenue Fund of the County. Moved, seconded and carried that Highway officer Wm.Frick, be given leave of absenc for 30 days in July with pay. The Sheriff was instructed to employ Highway officer if necessary, during such absence. W. E. Sexton and others appeared before the Board asking that road in Special Road & Bridge Dist .'o4 on. Clemons Ave. from Osceola Boulvd. south to Glendale Ave., be widened to 16 feet, having 9 feet asphalt pavement and 3+ ft. on each side, marl rock shoulders. It was ordered that the County will widen such part of the road as is out- side of the corporate limits of the City of Vero Beach provided the City will construct the additional width within the corporate limits of the City. Upon motion of Commissioner Braddock, seconded by Commissioner Forbes, the follow- ing resolution was adopted: Be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian river County, Florida, does hereby endorse and approve the location of State Road No.4 known as pro- ject 691, Line A of State Road Department survey through this County, East of the right- of -way of the Florida East Coast Railway and the attorney and engineer of this Board are hereby authorized and instructed to communicate with the State Road Department and under its direction secure the necessary right-of-way for said road. Upon being put to a vote, the resolution was declared adopted as follows: Yea; Commissioners, La.Bruce; Braddock and Forbes. Nays: Commissioner Helseth. It was ordered that the County Engineer be authorized to make change on the Oslo Road as provided in Bond issue of Special Road & Bridge Dist. No. 4 and build the same directly East to the present Dixie Highwayi The County Engineer is authorized to make grade on Oslo Road East of Dixie Highway with material secured from Oslo road West of the present Dixie Highway. Ordered that the County Engineer provide the necessary drainage in building "Quay Dock Road° in Special Road & Bridge Dist.No.4. It was ordered that the County Engineer enter into contract with w .E.Sexton to clear Right-of-way on Clemons Ave., from the Oslo Road to South county line. It was ordered that Fire arm bond of S. P. McCall, be rejected. The time having arrived for the opening of bids for Roller, Turntable and etc. ,same were opened, read and considered and it was ordered the County Engineer, Commissioners Forbes and Atkin, confer and decide the best proposition and make necessary purchase, same to be paid out of the Tine Warrant Fund, issue of 1925. The following resolution was unanimously adopted; Resolved that the offer edrethe Court House site by the Biscayne Finance Company in Brae Burn park be accepted, subject to compliance by said Company of the original offer, and the Company notified that 60 days will be given to Deposit $2.5,000.00 of the $50,000.00 offer and at the same time arrange proper security for the balance of $25,000. which was agreed to be donated on the construction of ,,County Buildings. The following Road petition was received and read: ROAD PETITION. STATE OF FLORIDA COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of said County: Gentlemen:- We, the undersigned citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Flo- rida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at: Beginning at a point on the East right-of-way line of State Road 1o. 4 and on the line between Sections 15 and 22, Town- ship 32 South, Range 39 East, Florida. Thnce East to the South-east corner of the South-west one-quarter of Section 14, Township 32 South, Range 39 East, thence North to the South right-of-way line of the North relief canal as shown on the plat of the Indian River Farms Drainage District as filed in the records of St. Lucie County on page 75 plat book No. 3. Said road to be not less than Sixty ( 60) feet in width. It was ordered that T.W.Jeffers, A.L.Bower and D.L.Leisher, be appointed a committee to view, mark and lay out said road andreport to this Board. THE Following Road petition was received and read: ROAD PETITION. STATE OF FLORIDA ) COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of said County: GENTLEMEN: - We, the undersigned citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to. be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at the South-east corner of the South-west one- quarter of Section 30 Township 31 South Range 39 East; thence North along the center section line of Sections 30, 19, 18 and 7, to the North-East corner of the North-west one quarter of Section 7, Township 31 South Range 39 East. Said road right-of-way to be not less than Sixty-six (66) feet in width. It was ordered that R.D.Carter, Chas.L.Beugnot and D.L.Leisher, be appointed a committee to view,mark and lay out said road and report to this Board. An order having been heretofore entered, declaring a public County road as follows: The center of Section 5 Township 33 South Range 38 East (which is to be a point on the center line of said County road) thence in a Westerly direction, along the east and west one-quarter section line through Sections Five and Six Township 33 South Range 38 East; thence along the East and West one quarter Section line through Sections One, Two,Threef Four, Five, and Six Township 33 South Range 37 East; thence along the East and West one- quarter section line, through Sections 'One, Two, Three, Four and Five Township 33- South Range 36 East; thence along the East and Vest one-quarter Section line, to station 698 .plus 23.4 in Section 6, Township 33 .South Range 36 East. Said station to be a point on the center line of said County road, thence along the arc of a three degree curve to the right to Station 713 plus 71.7 a distance of 1548.3 feet, said arc and station to be the center line of said County road, in Section 6 Township 33 South Range 36 East; thence along a tangent having a bearing of North 43 degrees 33 minutes West, (in Section 6 Township 33 South Range 36 East) to station 725 plus 63.5 a distance of 1191.8 feet. Said right-of-way to be not less than 200 feet in width. Thence from station 725 plus 63.5 (which is on the North rth and South .Section line and. 1310.9 feet South of the North-west corner of Section 6 Township 33 :South Range, 36 East` along a tangent having a bearing of North 43 degrees 33 minutes West, in Sections 36, 35 and 26 Twp. 32 R. 35 to station 849 plus 31.7 a distance of 12368.2; thence along the arc of a three degree curve to the left in Section 26 Township 32 South Range 35 East to station 851 plus 31.7 a distance of 200 feet; thence along a tangent having a. bearing of North 49 degrees 33 minutes West in Sections 26, 23 and 22 Township 32 South Range 35 East to station 874 plus 98.9, a distance of 2367.2 feet; thence along the arc of a three degree curve to the left, in Section 22 Township 32 South Range 35 East to station 879 plus 65.56 a distance of 466.66 feet; thence along a tangent having a bearing of North 63 degrees 33 minutes West in Section 22 Township 32 South, Range. 35 East, to station 913 plus 76.2, a distance of 3410.64 feet; thence along the arc of a two degree curve to the left in Section 22 Township 32 South Range 35 East, to station 918 plus 76.2 a distance of 500 feet; thence along a tangent having a bearing of North 73 degree 33 minute Lest, in Sections 22 and 21, Township 32 South Range 35 East, to station 947 plus 95.0 ;.a distance of 2918.8 feet; thence along the arc of a three degree curve to the left, in Section 21 Township 33 South Range 35 East, to station 952 plus 95.0 a distance of 500 feet; thence along a tangent having a bearing of Forth 88 degrees 33 minutes West, in Sections 21, 20 and 19, Township 33 South Range 35 East, to station 1068 plus 99.67, a distance of 11604.67 feet; thence along the aro of a two degree curve to the- right in Section 19, Township 32 South, Range 35 East, to station 1072 plus 99.67 a distance of 400 feet; thence along a tangent having a bearing of North 80 degrees 33 minutes West, in Section 19, Township 32 South, Range 35 East, to station 1079 plus 50.7 a distance of 651.03 feet; thence along the are of a three degree curve to the right, in Section 19, Township 32 South Range 35 East, to the intersection of the West boundary line of Section 19 Township 32 South Range 35 East, said stations, arcs and tangents to be the center line of said County road. Said right-of-way to be not less than 100 feet in width. It appearing that 30 days notice of the establishment of said road has been given by posting the saane at the Court House door of said County and at a public place nearest the said road so established, and that no objection to the establishment thereof has been made by any person, firm or corporation. Be it Therefore Resolved that a public County road is herein described be and the same is hereby established and declared to henceforth exist. The various accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined and found correct and warrants issued in settlement of same. The various bills being on file in the Clerks .office and made a part of these minutes. The County Depositories filed their monthly statements showing balance on hand in the respective funds the amounts received and cancelled warrants paid and the bal- ance on hand it the close of the month, hich were found to be correct, and on file in the Clerk's office.
