HomeMy WebLinkAbout7/6/1942THURSDAY JUNE 25th, 1242 The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met At the Court House in Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Thursday, June 25th, 1942 in special meeting with the fol- lowing members of the Board present; C. S. Michael, Chairman;. E. Glover, Albert 0. Helseth W. C. Graves Jr. and Frank C. Vickers. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board and Douglas Baker, Clerk. The Chairman announced this meeting was called for the purpose of inspecting and re- viewing application for liquor license and such other business as might be properly brought before the Board. Application of Alex MacWilliam (Mac's Tavern) for a license to sell intoxicating liquor, wines and beers,,was received and after carefully considering the same, on motion made, seconded and carried the same was approved. There being no further business on motion made, seconded'aad carried the Board,then adjourned until the regular meeting to be held in July, which shall be the first Monday in July as provided by Law. S. Michael, Chairman; 8. E. Glover, Albert 0. Helseth, W. C, Graves, Jr. and Frank C. Vickers. Also present were Wm. W. Frick, Sheriff, Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney to the Board, and Douglas Baker, Clerk. Graves Jr. introduced the following Resolution and moved its a - RESOLU'T'ION WBLT ,AS, the County Assessor of Taxes of Indian River County -did, prior to this date, complete the assessment roll of said Indian River Counter for the year 1942 and did on this, the first Monday in July, 1942, meet with the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County at the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of said County for the purpose of hearing complaints aad..,receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real or per- sonal, as -`fixed by the County Assessor of ' Tates and of perfecting, reviewing and equalizing assessment poll; and REAS, due notice of this meeting for said purpose has been given by publication in the Vero'Beaoh Press Journal, a newspaper published in Indian River County, Florida, and which notice was so published in said newspaper in its issues of June,19th and 26th, 1942 and the first publication of said notice being at least fifteen days before this'meeting; and REAS, this Board,has moat on this, the sixth day of July, 1942s pursuant to such notice and for the purposes aforesaid;_ and has considered said assessment roll, and has found it unnecessary to increase the value fixed by the County Assessor of Taxes of any real estate or personal property as shown on said roll; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Flor do hereby approve and confirm said tax assessment roll of said County for the year 1,942 -as and as approved by the Comptroller of the State of. M. Tuesday, 1,U;y 79 s 1942, in regular meeting with the following members of the Board present: C. S. Michael, Chairman; S. E. Glover, Albert 0. Helseth, W. C. Graves, Zr., and Frank C. Vickers. Also present were'ft. W. Frick, Sheriff Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board, and Douglas Baker, Clerk. The tax books being ready to be returned to the Tax Assessor for the purpose of ex- tending the taxes thereon as provided by law the Board of County Commissioners took up the matter of making an estimate of the'necessary expenses for the fiscal year from October lst,. 1942 to the 30th day of Septembers 1943, and having considered the receipts estimated by tee Clerk and the Tax Assessor having given full consideration to the needs and necessities of the County and the requirements for the different purposes to meet the expenses during the said fiscal year, have determined and do hereby declare the following to be the expenses and all special and extraordinary expenses contemplated for the fiscal year next ensuing and for which the revenue for the year 1942 from ad valorem taxation and the estimated receipts from other sources will be available.
