The minutes of all previous meetings were read and approved. Verdict of coroners jury in the matter of the . inquest on the. body of Every Hawood was received and ordered filed. Miss Leila M. Moody, Tax Collector of the County of Indian River: i You are hereby commanded to collect out of the real estate and personal property, from each of the persons and corporations named in the annexed Intangible Personal Property Assessments Roll, the taxes set down in each roll opposite each name of person, firm or Cor- poration therein described, and in case taxes so imposed are not paid at the time prescribed by law, you are to collect the same by levy and sale of the goods and chattels, lands and ten- ements to the person, firm or corporation so taxed; and all sums collected .for the State taxes you a re.to pay to the State Treasurer at such time as may be required by law; and you are further required to make all collections on or before the first Monday in April; and on or before the first Monday in July you will make a final report to and settlement with the Comp - troller and County Commissioners. Rel Seth, who moved its adopt -o ion., to -wit: i � With deep regret we note that Charles A. Mitchell who has served this Board as its j! I� attorney and legal adviser with fidelity and efficiency for many years, is absent from this meeting of the Board because of the death of his mother. Because of our friendly_relations l with him and the high esteem in which he is held by us, and because of the grief that has come to him and his family in the passing of his mother; BE IT RESOLVED That we, the members of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian) River County, extend to him and to the members of the family our sincere sympathy, and that this expression of the Board be recorded in our minutes and a copy delivered to Mr. Mitchell. Said resolution was duly seconded by W. C. Graves, Jr. and upon being put to a vote' the same was unanimously adopted. On motion made by S. E. Glover, seconded by W. C.°Graves; Jr. and carried the fol- lowing lease was entered into and ordered executed between H. J. Zeuch and Company, a Flor- ida corporation, as lessor and Indian River County, Florida, a political subdivision, as lessee. LEASE �; FN This lease executed this 6th day of October 1942 between H. J. Zeuch & Co., a �! Florida Corporation, as lessor, and Indian River County, Florida, a political subdivision, as lessee, witnesseth; The lessor herewith leases unto the lessee the exclusive use and possession of the following described property situated in Indian River County, Florida, to -wit: it Lot 6 of Block 1, Edgewood Addition to the City of Vero now Vero Beach; together with building or buildings now situated thereon. L TO HAVE AND TO HOLD to and including December 31, 1943, and such subsequent period as may be mutually agreeable to the parties hereto. The lessee agrees to pay as full and total rental therefore, the sum of $1.00 for said term and receipt whereof is herewith acknowledged by the lessor. The lessee further agrees to exempt said premises from taxation by said lessee for the year 1943, on the basis of such premises being used for County purposes exclusively, and to continue such exemption during subsequent years as may be represented by an extension of i this lease. During the period of this lease, the lessee will pay for the cost of utilities and such other expenses as lessee may incur in its use of said premises. It is understood that said premises during the period of this lease will be used by lessee for Welfare purposes and as a Health Clinic and Social Disease Clinic. On motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Glover and unanim- ously carried, the Board approved the temporary temoval of lumber from Winter Beach Bridge for the purpose of maintaining other County Bridges, provided the same the --same, be necessary,,, for the present duration and with the understanding that such removal of lumber from Winter Beach Bridge would be replaced when, as and if deemed advisable. It was ordered that the Salary of C. E. Strait, Janitor, be increased from $80.00 to $85.00 per month, until the further orders of the Board. Douglas Baker, Clerk was instructed to write Mr. 0. S. Snell to the effect that a transcript of evidence in the case of State of Florida vs. Oliver Snell, would have to be obtained at the expense of Mr. Snell in view of the fact no notice of appeal had been filed by said defendant, 0. S. Snell. RESOIUTIt?N Commissioner Graves introduced the following resolution, and moved its adoption, to -wit* - INASMUCH as the Federal open season on ducks begins November 2nd, in Florida, and the State Law starts the season November 20th, and INASMUCH as Section 1977 (44) Compiled General Laws of Florida, Permanent Supple - went, provides that the Comission of Game and Fresh Water Fish shall prescribe and declare open season on ducks in any County when requested to do so by the Board of County Cession-'` ers, when consistent with the regulations of the Federal Law, now THEMFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners that the Commission of Game and Fresh Water Fish be requested to open the duck season in Indian River County on November 2nd, which.wi.11 give Indian River County the same season as set up by Federal Regulations. i The resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Vickers and upon being put to a vote the dame was unanimously adopted. p i i8 1 0 1 1 • 19 The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were ex- amined and fouad correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. The warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed.in the Supplemental. Minute Book, as provided by the rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so re- corded being made a part of these minutes. r The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disburse- ments of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be oorreot. Friok, Sheriff and Douglas Baker, Clerk, It was ordered that the Clerk of this Board prepare the ballot for the General Election and he was instructed to.have printed thereon all names of candidates certified by - the Secretary of State and all candidates certified by the County Canvasing Board of the Democratic Party for County and District offices, as well as all constitutional amendments certified by Secretary of State be printed thereon, as well as blank spaces where no nominee has been filed for an office. Hon. Geh. T. Tippin, Supervisor of Registration, was instructed "to *rite Hon. R. A. Gray, Secretary of State, with regard to publishing the list of qualified eleotors.
