Lucie County, Florida; the above described tract of land also being parts of Lots 21,
22; 32 and 33 of subdivision Number 1 and parts of Lots 18; 19; and 20 of , subdivision
Number two.
It was ordered that the same be accepted and entered for record in the Clerk's
office.
It was ordered the sum of §1,000.00 be set aside out of the Publicity Fund for
advertising at the American Legion convention to be held in Philadelphia during the fall.
of 1926. This amount to be paid to the Felix Poppell Post of American Legion for
advertising Indian River County.
It was ordered that Knight & Ring be employed to drill an artesian well at the
County garage for the price of 50% per lineal foot.
It was ordered that the County Engineer repair the streets in Fellsmere and the
cost of same be deducted and credited against the amount of Road & Bridge tax due the
City from the County on account of 1925 tax collections.
It was ordered that the Clerk write the State Road Department with respect to
drainage on the East side of the Dixie Highway at Winter Beach and North of Wabasso
which is now inadequate, as the drainage only goes to the marsh.
It was ordered screen doore be placed on all the County" offices.
The several accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined and
approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. the .bills and accounts on file in
the Clerk's office being a part of these minutes.
The County Depositories of the County filed their monthly statements showing
receipts, disbursements and balance on hand, which were found correct,.
The Board then adjourned_until Thursday, July 29th, 19 -at o'clock P.M.

At a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,
held in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court at Vero Beach, on the 29th day of
July 1926, there were present the following County Commissioners: John H.Atkin,Chairrnan;
Geo.A.Braddock; J.C.LeBruce and Donald Forbes.
The Chairman announced that this special meeting was held for the purpose of con-
sidering and acting upon and adopting the estimates of the expenses for the fiscal year
commencing with October 1st 1926 and ending September 30th 1927, which were prepared and
entered upon the minutes of the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, held on
the 13th day of July 1926, and to fix the rate of taxation for the year 1926.
A copy of the advertisement containing the estimates or budget made by the Board of
County Commissioners at a meeting held at the Court House on the 13th day of July 1926,
with the publisher's affidavit annexed as presented to the Board and ordered spread upon
the minutes and is in words and figures as follows:

The -foregoing estimates as made by the Board and published in the Vero Beach Press
a newspaper published in the County in the issue of said newspaper of the 14th day of
July 1926, was then taken up, considered, and finally adopted. The Board then proceeded
with the matter of fixing the rate of taxation for County and Special District purposes
for the year 1926, and after a careful consideration of the estimates of receipts and
the estimates of expenditures it was the determination of the Board that the rate of,
taxation necessary to meet such expenses would be for each of the following mentioned
Purposes the amounts estimated, declared and levied, viz:
In order to meet the estimated current expenses of the County of Indian River,
$25.935.00it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Five (5) mills upon
the dollar be levied and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in
the County of Indian River on the first day of January 1926, for the GENERAL REVENUE
to meet the current expenses of the County and to provide far the expenditure as esti-
mated in the budget hereinbefore set forth.
To meet the expenses estimated to be necessary to be paid out of the FIDE & FORFEI-
IUBB, FUND the sum of $18,620.00, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax of Two
(2) mills upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the pro-
perty lying and being in the County of Indian River on the first day of January 1926,
for the FIVE & FORFEITURE , to meet the current expenses as estimated in the -budget.
To cover the amount of the estimated expenses for keeping the County Roads in
good shape and for the construction and repairing of bridges and other necessary ex-
penses to keep the roads of the County in good condition and provide other roads when
necessary of $105,165..00, it is determined and hereby .declared that a tax rate of Eight
(8) malls upon the dollar, and an additional levy of Five (5) mills upon the dollar,
be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in
the County of Indian River on the first day of January 1926 to meet the current expenses
of the County as estimated in the budget.
"To meet the interest payments and provide a sinking fund for the ultimate redemption
of County Bonds, County Time Warrants, and the pro-rato debt assumed from St.Lucie
County, in pursuance of the requirements of the law the sum of 054,921.40, it is deter-
mined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Eleven & 7/8 (11-7/8) mills upon the dollar
be levied, assessed and is hereby imposed upon all the property lying and being in the
County of Indian River on the first day of January 1926.
For the payment of pensions to widows,
of the County, and who are worthy and needy
whose children attend the public schools
the sum of 01500.00
of assistance,/it is determined and hereby
declared that a tax rate of 1/8 of a mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed and is
hereby imposed upon all the property in the County of Indian River on the first day of
January 1926, to meet the 'current expenses as estimated in the budget for the MOTHERS
PENSION FUND.
In order to continue the County Fair, arrange displays at the South Florida Fair,
and for general advertising of the County, the sum of $6080.00, it is determined and
hereby declared that a tax rate of 1/2 mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed and is
hereby imposed upon all the property in the County of Indian River on the first day of
January 1926, to meet the current expenses estimated in the Budget from the PUBLICITY
FUND..
For the encouragement and protection of Agriculture as authorized under Chapter
7302, .Acts of 1917, the sum of $4750.00, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax
rate of one mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the
property mn. the County of Indian River, on the first day of January 1926, to meet the
current expenses as estimated in the Budget, for the AGRICULTURAL FUND.
To meet the current expenses incidental and necessary to the operation of the Publi
Schools of the County, and to pay the salaries of teachers and repair school houses as
estimated by the County Board of Public Instruction, the sum of 052,610.00, it is deter-
mined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Ten (10) mills upon the dollar be levied,
assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the property in the County of Indian River, on
the first day of January 1926.
According to the millage so determined, fixed andassessed, the total millage to be
entered in the column provided for County Taxes in the assessment roll for the year A.D.
1926, is 43-1/2 mills upon the dollar, to cover a total estimated expenditure of
0269,581.40.
The Board then proceeded to fix the millage for Special Road and Bridge Districts
under Section 1656 of Chapter 12, Revised General Statutes, of Florida, and it was deter-
mined that a tax of Eighteen (18) mills on the dollar be levied and is hereby fixed and
assessed for the year 1926, on all of the property in the County of Indian. River lying
and being within the boundaries ''of the said Special Road 8c Bridge District No. 4 for the

purpose of paying interest, retiring bonds and creating a sinking fund for the retire len
of the bonded debt, which boundaries are as follows: Commencing at the Worth -west corner

law, and as estimated by the County Board of Public Instructions, it is determined and
hereby declared that a tax rate of Ten (10) mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby
fixed anct assessed for the year 1926, on all of the property in the County of Indian
River, lying and being within the boundaries of Special Tax School District No.11,
the boundaries of said District being described above in these minutes.
Estimates having been made by the Board of Commissioners of Indian River Mosquito
Control District., and a certified copy of the resolution filed with this Board, as
required by law, and as estimated by the said Board of Commissioners, it is determined
and hereby declared that a tax rate of Three (3) mills upon the dollar be levied, and.
is hereby fixed and assessed for the year 1926, on all of the property in the County
of Indian River, lying and being within the boundaries of said Mosquito Control District,
the boundaries of said District being described as being the entire County as a whole.
Estimates having been made by the Board of Commissioners of the Zebastian Inlet
District for the ultimate redemptions of Bonds and to pay the interest thereon when due,
and for general repairs and additional work to be done, and a certified copy of the
resolution filed with this Board, and as estimated by the said Board of Commissioners
of the Sebastian Inlet District, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate
of Four (4) mills upon the dollar be levied, and :is hereby fixed and assessed for the
year 1926, on all of the property in the County of Indian River, lying and being within
the boundaries of said Sebastian Inlet District. Three mills of which shall be used for
interest payments and to create a sinking fune and One mill shall be used for repairs
and general work on the said Inlet.
The Conmiiasioners of -Sebastian Bridge District having filed certified copy of
resolution and having made estimates of the necessary espenses incident to the Seb-
astian Bridge District, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of
Three (3) mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby fixed and assessed for the
year 1926, on all of the property in the County of Indian River, lying and being
Within the boundaries of said Sebastian Bridge District, to be used solely for the
purpose authorized and prescribed by Chapter 11154, Laws of Florida. The boundaries
of said Bridge District being described as follows: Beginning at the North-west corner

River) County to the center of -Sebastian River; Thence North-easterly along the County
line in the Sebastian River to the Indian River; thence Easterly through the center
of the channel of Sebastian Inlet in Government Lot 2 of Section 20 Township 30 South
Range 39 Meat, to the atlantic Ocean; thence :youth -easterly along the shore of the

ESTIM& ES having been made by the Commissioners of theFellsmere. Cross State Road
District., and having filed certified copy of the resolution declaring the tax, for
the neoeaaaxy► expenditures and for the purpose of paying interest, creating a sinking
fund and the ultimate redemption of Road District bowie, it is determined and bereft
declared that a tax rate of Sev17(01 mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby
fixed and assessed for the year 1926, on all of the property in the County of Indian
River, lying and being within the boundaries of said Felismere Cross State Road Die-

(3) milts Shall be used sdlely for the purposes authorized and prescribed by Chaapter
10373 of the Lawe of Florida. The boundaries of said district being as follows:

ESTIMATES having been made by the Board of Commissioners of VABASSO BRIDGE DISTRICT,
and a certified copy of the resolution declaring the tax for the necessary expenditures
and for the purpose of paying interest, retiring bonds at maturity and creating a sink-
ing fund, for the ultimate redemptiosm of the bonds outstanding,' it is determined and
hereby'' declared that_ a tax of Thirteen (13) mills upon the dollar be levied, and is
hereby fixed and".asseseyed for the year 1926, on all of the property in the County of
Indian River, lying and being within the boundaries of said Viabasso Bridge District.

law, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Two (2) mills upon the

RESOLVED, Further, that the Clerk and Auditor of the County be notified of the amount
to be apportioned to the different accounts out of the total taxes levied for all purposes.
The Notary Public bond of Cora E. Heald, in the sum of #500.00 with the American Surety
ompany, a corporation, of New York as surety was approved.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted: ..
MEM, The Bank of sebaatian, Sebastian, Florida, was the regular designated depository
for the Mothers Pension Fund, and
WAS said Bank has closed its doore and the funds therein deposited are not available
at this time, end it is necessary that sufficient funds be placed in, this fund in some other
designated depository of the County in order to meet the current expenditures;
.THEREFORE be it resolved that the sum of ,$400.00 be transferred from tin Fine and For«
feitura Fund of thisrCounty to the others Pension Fund, and that the same be placed in the
Vero Beach Bank & Trust Company. Such transfer to be made only upon the approval of the
State Comptroller.
It wan ordered the Vero Beach Bank & Trust Company be designated as Depository fox' the
*other's Pension Fund, Publicity Fund and special. Road & Bridge District No. 1,{Interest &
Sinking .Fluid$ during the period of suspension of business by the Bank of Sebastian the regular
depository for such funds.
The .Dumond Quarries Company, a corporation, having submitted a proposition to furnish.
the County rock for the construction of roads in this County and also in special Road & Bridge
District, and the same having been fully considered, it was ordered on motion of G.A.Braddock
end seconded by 3.V7.LaBruce and unanimously adopted that contract be entered into with said
Company for the purchase of such rock. Copy of such contrast being on file with the Clerk of
this Board.
It was ordered that the County Engineer build a bridge. over the South relief canal of
Indian River Farms Drainage District on the present Dixie Highway south of Vero Beach.
wBEREAS at a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,
held on the lat day of December 1925, The Farmers Bank & Trust Company, of Vero Beach,
was designated a County Depository for the year 1926, conditioned upon its qualifying by
filing with the State Comptroller bond or security in the sum of V65,000.00 and
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of April 1926 said Bank as such designated Depository filed
with the Comptroller, Federal, andMunicipal Bonds and County Time Warrants in the amount
of 465,000.00 and
TAS, since said date, upon .order of said Board the said Bank as depository has
filed with the said Board additional securittee in the amount of 070,600.00, and
iEBREAS, said Bank as County Depository has requested the return of the securetiea

now on file with the State Comptroller, conditioned upon its filing with this Board of County
Commissioners, properly transferred, with an agreement to sell. and dispose and realize upon
at any time, additional securities in the total sum of 4100,000.00;
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners in regular adjourned
meeting assembled that the securities now on file with the Mate Comptroller be withdrawn
and, delivered back to such Bank as Depository aforesaid, conditioned, upon the said Bank
complying with the agreement to furnish this Board additional security in the sum of,
$100,000.00.
The foregoing resolution being put before the Board was adopted by unanimous vote of the
Board present.
There being no further business on motion, duly made, seconded and adjourned the Board
then adjourned until Tuesday, August 3rd 1926, the next regular meeting of this Board.

At a Special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held on this date at 2 o'clock
P.M. there was present John H Atkin, Chairman; Donald Forbes; a..A.Braddock and J.V .LaBruee.
The Chairman announced the call of this meeting was to consider the best plan to obtain
right of way for State Road No. 4 through Indian River County.
The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Forbes:
WHEREAS, the State Road Department of the State ofrlorida has requested the Board of
County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, to secure a right-of-way Sixty six (66,
feet in width for the location of State Road No. 4 Project 691 through Indian River County,
and, ti}EREAS,
The right of way for said State Road has been surveyed and located by the State Road
Department in said County of Indian River, and
iiHEREAS, the State Road Department has advised the Board of Commissioners of Indian
River County, Florida, that one H. E. Ejorsvik, through whose lands said road has been sur-
veyed and located by the State Road Department, has failed and refused to execute and del-
iver a conveyance of said right-of-way to the State Road Department, or to the County of
Indian River, for the location of said road, and
r1EREAS, the State Road Department if the State of Florida has requested the Board of
County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, to condemn all necessary lands for the
purpose of securing rights-of-way for said state Road; Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that condemnation proceedings shall be brought and maintained in the
name of the County Commissioners of Indus River County, Florida, against said H.E.Sjorsvik,
and all other parties having any claims in the following described right-of-way for State
Road No. 4 Project 691, to -wit:
A tract of land 66 feet in width the center line of which is the center line
of State Road number 4 Project 691 and begins at a point 389 feet West of the North-east
corner of the South-east Quarter of the South-west Quarter of Section 30, Township 33 South,
Range 40 East; thence South 19 degrees 08 minutes East to a point in the East line of said
tract; said point being 282.9 feet North of the South-east corner of said tract.
BE IT FURTHER resolved, that the attorney for this Board be, and he is hereby, instru-
cted and empowered to immediately proceed to institute and prosecute said suit.
Said resolution was duly seconded and upon being put to a vote was unanimously carried
as follower
