j The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court house in
Hero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, November 2, 1943, in regular meeting with the
following members of the Board present: W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman: S. E. Glover, Frank C.
Vickers, Albert 0. Helseth and G. E. Barkoskie. Also present were Wm. W. Frick, Sheriff, _
Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board, and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
The Board then proceeded to approve the commissions due the Assessor of Taxes, W.R.
Duncan, from the various and several special taxing districts within the County, for commissions
due for assessing the taxes and preparing the tax roll for the' year 1943 as indicated on state
mene submitted by Mr. Duncan, and the following statements having been audited, on motion made

Application of Royal Park Golfer's Association by Fred E. Eakin, President (Royal
Park Golf Club) for a license to sell intoxicating liquor, wines and beers, was received and
:after carefully considering the same, on motion made, seconded and carried the same was approved
Surety Bond for Oscar L. DuBose, member County Board of Public Instruction, in the
sum of $2000.00 with Continental Casualty Company as Surety, was approved.

On motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Vickers and unanimous

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
We, the County Commissioners of Indian River County, do hereby agree with respect to

!Dora Campbell., a resident of Indian River County, who is now an inmate of St. Lucie/Welfare

;House at Ft. Pierce, that we are and will be responsible for necessary hospitalization for Mrs.',
Campbell, and in the event such hospitalization becomes necessary, Airs. Campbell is to be re -
,moved by C. E. Cox of Vero Beach from the House where she now is to the Indian River Hospital
at Vero Beach, such removal to be at our expense; and further, that we will be responsible for
interment expense.

It was ordered the agreement with the United States Coast Guard be renewed.

On motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Barkoskie, it was
ordered that Attorney Mitchell prepare notice inviting bids on "One hydraulic operated trail
I,ibuilder or bulldozer with angle blade to mount on D-4 wide gauge caterpillar tractor, price
'f.o.b. Vero Beach including service installation". Said bids to be received to the hour of
114:00 o'clock P. M. Saturday, November 20, 1943.
The annual statement of the Counter for the fiscal year beginning October li 1942 and
ending September 30, 1943, was presented to the Board and approved and a copy of same ordered
,transmitted to Hon. Z. M. Lee, Comptroller, Tallahassee, Florida.

Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney, was instructed to continue negotiations with the City
`of Hero Beach regarding the purchase of the cities interest in lot 28, Block 35, Original Town,:
and to find out the amount of actual cash the city had invested in saidproperty and that the
county would be willing to pay this amount to the city.
It was ordered that the men employed by the Road and Bridge Department receive an j
:increase of 5¢ per hour, thereby aggregating 55¢ per hour for their services.

It was ordered that the minutes recite the receipt of the schedule or list of all
lands duly certified to the Board under Chapter 22079, Laws of Florida, .Acts of 1943.
Pursuant to Chapter 220?9, Laws of Florida, Douglas Baker, Clerk Circuit Court, de-
,livered to the Board of County Commissioners the schedule or list duly certified by such Clerk
of all lands upon which tax certificates were issued at the County Tax Collector's sale of de- i'
�linquent taxes held kugugt 4, 1941, and on all such lands as were bid off by such Tax CollecJ1
and which taxes have not been redeemed or purchased. Such schedule or list of lands being on
file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court being listed in the Supplemental Minute
Book reference to such record and the list or schedule so recorded being made a art of these

The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined
and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and
accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Warrants so issued
;from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the rul
of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part of
these minutes. a
The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
',of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then
,adjourned until 4:00 o'clock P. M., Saturday, November 20, 1943•
