Deputy Sheriff's Bond for Wayne Howard in the sum of $1,000.00 with M. L. Walters a
W. S. Hague as Sureties, was approved.
Verdict of Coroner's Jury in the matter of the death of Lula Leonard, Walter Brewer

and Harry Hayward was received, read and ordered filed.
Forms were received from the Navy Department with -regard to settlement on damage to
County Barn caused by aeroplane accident.on.October 23, 1943• Said forms were executed and
returned to the Navy Department as requested. Amount of settlement, $1,000.00.
On motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Glover, the Board
agreed to buy twenty cushions for the chairs in the County Commissioners room and for the Jury
chairs in the Court Room. Said cushions to cost approximately $3.00 or 04.00 each.

It was ordered Clara Williams, colored, Gifford, receive the sum Of $6.00,per month
.until the further orders of the Board.
The sum of $10 per month for Mrs. Fischer at Roseland, was approved provided it be-
comes necessary that she have this amount for her welfare.
�s`a The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited were examined
and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and
;accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the fNarrants so issued
'jfrom the respective funds being listed in the .Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the
rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part
of these minutes.
The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then,.
adjourned.

!' The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in
Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, January 4, 1944s in regular meeting with the
;following members of the Board present: W. C. Graves, dr., Chairman: S. E. Glover, Frank C.
� Viokers, Albert 0. Helseth and G. E. Barkoskie. Also present were ism. W. Frick, Sheriff,
Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board,. and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
On motian.made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Vickers and unanimous
-ly carried, W. C. Graves, dr., was elected Chairman, S. E. Glover Chairman Pro Tem, until the
further orders of the Board.

It was moved by Commissioner Glover, seconded by Commissioner Vickers and unanimously'
carried, that all present county officers and employees be retained for the year 1944.
It was ordered the Orange State Oil Company (Cities Service) receive the county gas

,land oil business for the first six months of this year ending dune 30th, 1944.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Charles A..Mitchell, Attorney, was requested to obtain information from the City
Clerk as to the cost to purchase the cities interest on Lot 28, Block 35,.Original Town of
Vero Beach.

It was ordered Douglas Baker, Clerk, purchase Deed Records #41 and #42 and Chancery
Order Book #12 for the Clerk's office.
