It was ordered the sum of 0500.00 be paid from the funds of the Quay Bridge District i

,;including that of the Vero Bridge District to the Indian River Fire Protective Association for
maintenance and operation, including labor, gas and oil, of the growers fire truck for fire
,,protection of public bridges and culverts in the Vero and quay Bridge Districts.
The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined ,
G and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same.. Such bills and "I
,accounts being on file is the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Warrants so issued
from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the
rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part
of these minutes.
The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
I,of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Miss Leila M. Buakley, County Nurse, appeared before the Board and made a report of

Miss Bunkley further reported that appendix operations were necessary for the Fetty
Ard child and also the Leonard Washington child. Upon recommendation of Miss Buakley, the
Board agreed that these services be rendered at a cost not to exceed $25.00 in each case. Miss
Bunkley reported the Kiwanis Club would assume the hospitalization charges of $20.00 for each
case. The Fredel case at Fellsmere was also discussed and was more or less left to the de-
cision of Miss Buakley and Commissioner Barkoskie of Fellsmere.
Auditors Report #2609 was presented to the Board in connection with provisions of i!
Section 125.09, Florida Statutes 19419 and ordered filed as a part of the public records of
Indian River County.
The name of Dr. P. T. McClellan, Vero Beach, was suggested to the Florida :hate
of Health with regard to a medical advisor in the control of communicable diseases in Indian
River County.
Mr. Chesnutt appeared before the Board with regard to the drainage of a road ditch
in connection with his property on Emerson Avenue. The Board advised Mr. Chesnutt that they
had no authority with regard to the said ditch under the existing circumstances which was out -
nod by Dar. Chesnutt.
Verdict of Coroner's Jury in the matter of the inquest on the body of Joe Leach was

presented and ordered filed.
On motion by S. E. Glover, seconded by Frank C. Vickers and unanimously carried, the
salary of Mr. C. E. Strait, Custodian, was increased to $125.00 per month.
On motion by Commissioner Helseth, seconded,by Commissioner Barkoskie,'and unanimously
,;carried, the salary of Mr. George T. Tippin, Supervisor of Registration, was increased to $75.00,
I' per month.
It was ordered upon the recommendation of County Engineer E. E. Carter that Mrs.
:Thomas Falmer be paid the sum of $30.00 for tools formerly owned by Thomas Palmer, deceased.
�jMr, Carter stated the actual value of the tools was approximately $125.00. i
u; On motion made by Commissioner Helseth, seconded by Commissioner Vickers and unani-
jmously carried, it was ordered the county advertise for bids for the purchase of a commercial
Itrailer.
On motion by Commissioner Barkoskie, seconded by Commissioner Helseth and unanimously':
1oarried, it was ordered the county advertise for bids for the purchase of an asphalt distributor;
x'(300 gallons).

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Notary Public Bond in the sum of $500.00 for J. R. Jamison with Massachusetts Bondingli,
i4 and Insurance Company of Boston, Massachusetts, was approved March 15, 1944,,.by Douglas Baker,
II Clerk Circuit Court.
It was ordw .Cl.ara Williams and W. H. Williams be removed from the Paupers list.

rA petition signed by Dan H. McCullers and thirty or forty citizens of Winter Beach,
'1 was presented -to the Board requesting that the Florida East Coast Railway Company be advised
i{ jl
" of the serious condition of the railroad crossing north of the express shed in Winter Beach I"
i and requested the Railroad Company to repair said crossing. The Board agreed this should be
i
done and Douglas Baker, Clerk, was instructed to write the railroad officials in St.Augustino
regarding same.
It was ordered a warrant be drawn on,the General Revenue Fund in the sum of $300.00
payable to the City of Vero Beach for the city's interest in lot 28, Block 35, Original Town.

Miss Bunkley also reviewed the Rimes boys case and the Board agreed to expend the
jl sum not to::exceed $50.00 toward his expense. The Joe Simmons case was also reviewed and the
Board agreed to expend the sum of approximately 4200.00 provided one-half of this amount be
raised, the remainder to be paid on future installments.
The Board instructed Douglas Baker, Clerk, to request insurance bids from the
several agents in the county for Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance.limits of
Liability to be 10,000.80 ax d': 20"000.00 and Property Damage $5,000.00 on county trucks and
automobiles. Said bids to be received May 2nd.
