The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the. Court House in
jVero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, May 2nd, 19449 in regular meeting with the follow-
ing members of the Board present: 11. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman: Frank C. Vickers, Albert 0.
IHelseth and G. E. Barkoskie. Absent: S. E. Glover. Also present were 17m. W. Frick, Sheriff,
Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney for the Board, E. E. Carter, County Engineer, and Douglas Baker,
;Clerk.
Minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved.
Miss Leila M. Bunkley, County Nurse, appeared before the'Board and made a report of
her activities for the month of April as follows to -wit:

Mother's Pension application for Melba McDaniel Rimes, General Delivery, Gifford,
Florida, was approved in the sum of $10.00 per month until the further orders of the Board.
Further, that she receive grocery orders in the sum ndt to exceed $20.00 per month.
The Board granted Miss Leila M. Bunkley, County Nurse, a months vacation beginning
May 4, 1944. Miss'Bunkley stated she had engaged Miss Irene Harmes to look after the work dur-
iag her absence.
The Board approved the renewal of the present V. D. Clinic Budget which reads as
follows to -wit:

The Board approved the adoption of a resolution adopted by the City of Vero Beach
March 8, 1944, with regard to the present channel in Indian River, said resolution being on
file in the Clerk's office and made a part of these minutes.
The Board approved redemption of Certificate #76 of 1925, in the sum of 028.00 because
it appears from the records that this was a double assessment.
The following insurance bids were received for Public Liability and Property Damage
Insurance on county trucks and automobiles:

02.75It was ordered the insurance be placed with the Buckingham-Vlheeler Agency since they
are the low bidders.
A letter was received from the War Department with regard to the present Fender
System of the Winter Beach Bridge. Chairman Graves and E. E. Carter was selected a committee
to contact Mr. F. G. Fletcher with the idea of remeding the present situation as soon as
possible.
The Board proceeded to and did name and select the following persons as Inspectors

and Clerk of Election of the various precincts to hold and conduct the second Primary Election

to be held Tuesday, May 23, 19441 to -wit: (See page -104)
The several bilis and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined-;?
and found correk, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of saute, Sulk bills and ae"10
counts heiag on file in the officeof the Clerk of the Cirouit Court, the Warrants so issued
from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Rock, as provided by the ruled
of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a pert of
these minutes.
The County Depository filed its Monthly.statement, showing recelpts and disbursements
of the various If`undIs, which having been audited were found to be correct.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board them
adjourned.
