It was thereupon resolved that the Clerk of the Cir©uit'Court be directed to have the foregoing estimates as made by the Board published in a newspaper in this County by two inser- tions and that a copy thereof, properly certified, be forwarded to the Comptroller of the State,,! of Florida. The following Resolution was Introduced by Commissioner Helseth who moved its adoption as follows, to -wit: MREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida has preppred the County Commissioner* s Budget for the year 1944-X1945, and _has determined that the budget, or some item or items therein, for operating expenses, should be increased more than five (5%) per- cent as compared with the budget for the preceeding year or for the year 1940-1941, whichever may be the larger; and by reason of such event it is provided under the, provisions of Chapter 220799 Laws of Florida, adopted in 1943, that this Board shall proceed as herewith done by this ;resolution; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida that ;Nit does herewith call a public meeting for the purpose of explaining and discussing such propos'' aged increase in said budget, and that the time and place for such meeting is herewith fixed at j the hour of 10:00 o'clock A. M, EasteraWar Time, July 27, 1.944, in the County Commissioner+ s 4 room in the Indian River County Court House at Vero Beach, Florida. That at said meeting the proposed increase in the budget shall be explained and discussed by the budget making authority�I and opportunity afforded the tax payers present to discuss the same. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of said meeting herewith and hereby called be publish -1 ed by the Clerk of the Board for two successive weeks in the Fero Beach Press Journal, a news- paper of general circulation published in Indian River County, Florida, and in the issues of such newspaper -of July 14 and 219 1944. BE IT FUDR RESOLVED that the Chairman and Clerk of this Board do any and all acts neo-'' essary to carry out the purposes of this resolution and make proper arrangement for such public meeting. The motion for the adoption of the Resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner Glover and unanimously adopted. The following Resolution was offered by Commissioner Barboskie and moved its adoption as follows, to -wit: MBEREAS, in accord with Chapter 550 of the Florida Statutes, monies derived by the State Racing Commission for distribution among the several counties of the state have been distribut;-I ad to Indian River County and have been transmitted to the County Commissioners for the current year; therefore, �r BE IT RESOLVED that the sutra of twenty-five thousand ($25,000.00) dollars thereof so trans'' misted to this county and received by it shell be apportioned and esnYsrtst is the respective funds under control of the Board of County. Alice Hell,esso, County Nurse4 and Mrs. dames, representing the Child Welfare Program appear* C ed before the Board and gave reports and information as to their respective programs and acti- vities in order that the Board might become more familiar with the general programs of the {' County. On motion made by Commissioner Barkoskie, seconded by Commissioner Glover, it was decided 'a to withhold any decision as to additional financial.asci-stance for Miss Leila M. Bunkley, form- li or County Nurse, until sometime in the near future. Mr. Barkoskie made a report as to the physical condition of Tommy Thompson,, a child resi- dent of Fellsmere and after hearing said report, the Hoard readily agreed to appropriate the sum of $50.00 towards modern treatment for the child should it become necessary to make the expenditure by the County. The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner Glover who moved its adoption as follows, to -wit: R R S 0 L U T I 0 N WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian Diver County, Florida has prepared the County Commissioner's Budget for the year 1944-1945, and has determined that the budget, n� or some item or items therein, for operating expenses, should be increased more than five (5%) percent as compared with the budget for the preceeding year or for the year 1940-1941, whichever may be the larger; and by reason of such event it is provided under the provisions of Chapter E i 22079, Laws of Florida, adopted in 1943, that this Board shall proceed as herewith done by thisP � f' resolution; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida thati, ILSIt does herewith call a public meeting for the purpose of explaining and discussing such pro- posed increase in said budget, and that the time and place for such meeting is herewith fixed at the hour of 10 o'clock A. M., Easter War Time, July 27, 1944, in the County Commissioner's Room in the Indian River County Court House at Vero Beach, Florida.
