To cover the amount of the estimated expenses for keeping the County Roads in good
shape and for the construction and repairing of bridges and other necessary expenses to keep th
;roads of the County in good condition and provide other roads when necessary of $0o,741.00, it

is6determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Two and four-fifths (2 4/5) mills upon the
dollar be levied, assessed and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being in th
County of Indian River on the first day of January, 1945, to meet the current expenses of the
County as estimated in the budget for the ltOAD & BRIDGE FUND.
To meet the interest payments and provide a sinking fund for the ultimate redemption
of County Court House bonds, in pursuance of the requirements of the law the sum of $4,895.00, ;,
it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Two fifths (2/5) mills upon the dollar

be and he is hereby directed to assess and levy the foregoing taxes as fixed by this Board upon
in Indian River County subject theretoi and that he extend such taxes on the valuation of such,.
the taxable propertyraccording to said m4ilage as fiXed and determined and levied by this Board

as provided by law; that a certified copy of this resolution be furnished to the County Tax
Assessor.
The motion for the adoption of the said resolution for the levy of taxes was seconded
Eby Commissioner Vickers and adopted by the following votes,J-d.
Ayes: Graves, Glover, Vickers and R. Graves.
The several bills and accounts against the County, hating been audited, were examined
land found corrects were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bilis and
,accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Courts the Warrants so issued
from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the
rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part
of these minutes.
The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board
then adjourned.

The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in
Vero Beach, at 3:00 o'clock P. M. Friday, September 21, 1945, in special meeting with the follow-
ing members of the Board present: W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman, R. W. Graves, Frank C. Vickers'
and S. E. Glover. Absent Albert 0. Helseth. Also present was Douglas Baker, Clerk.
Application of Conger„ Mead, Reynolds (as Fellsmere Bar and Liquor Store), Highway

Building, Fellsmere, Florida, for a license to sell intoxicating liquors, wines and beer, was
'inspected and, after carefully considering the same, on motion made, seconded and carried, the
,same was approved.

Notary Public Bond for J. S. Brooks (Legal Officer, Naval Air Station) in the sum
of $500.00 with American Surety Company of New York, as Surety, was approved September 26, 1945,
by Douglas Baker, Clerk.
There being no further business,bon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board
then adjourned.

The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in
;Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, October 2, 1945', in regular meeting with the follow-
ing members of the Board present: W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman, Albert 0. Helseth, Frank C.
Vickers, S. E. Glover and R.W. Graves. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney, E. E.
Carter, County Engineer, L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
Minutes of previous meetings were read and approved.
Mr. Jess Dixon and Mr. MacDonald, representing the City of Fellsmere, appeared before
the Board and requested that certain streets in the City of Fellsmere, approximately one mile,
'be patched and sprayed with asphalt. The Board instructed County Engineer, E. E. Carter, to con-
fer with Mr. Dixon and Mr. MacDonald and obtain an estimate as to the cost of the proposed work
and report back to the Board at its next regular meeting.
Application of Harry Bohannon and Conger M. Reynolds (Gifford Liquor Store) east side
i; Dixie Highway, north Vero Beach, for a license to sell intoxicating liquors, wines and beers,
was inspected and after ca'fully considering the same, on motion made, seconded, and carried,
the same was approved.
Application of E. C. Copeland (I. J. Anderson*s'Building) Wabasso, Florida, for a
'license to distribute wines of any alcbhialecontent and malt beverages containing not more than
14% of alcohol -4 by weight in wet Mies, was inspected add, after carefully considering the
same, on motion made, seconded and carried, the same was approved.
Bond of Supervisor of Registration OrElections, for Louis Harris in the sum of $500.00,
with Continental Casualty Company as surety, was approved. The effective date of the appoint -
j ment being September 17, 1945, and ending the first Tuesday after the first Monday in January
1949.
It was ordered that Mr. Louis Harris receive a check representing one•half months
salary, as Supervisor of Registration, to October 1, 1945.
