The Board then considered the County Budget and Budget estimates as prepared by the
Board at its meeting of July 2, 1946, and duly advertised, as provided by Law' in the Vero
!!Beach Press Journal, in its issues of July $,and 12, 1946. Thereupon Commissioner R. W. Graves
;introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption to -wit:

WHEREAS, the Board of County Eommissioners has made and completed the estimate of its
11�necessary and ordinary expenses and of all special and extraordingry expenditures contemplated,

The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Board then proceeded with the matter of fixing the rate of taxation for Indian
{River County for the year 1946 and, after careful consideration of the estimated receipts and
'expenditures, the following resolution was introduced by Commissioner R. W. Graves who moved

WHEREAS, the respective boards and taxing districts being authorized to fig and levy
taxes upon property situated within Indian River County, Florida, as provided by law, fixed
such tax levies and have certified the same to this Board and this Board having considered the
(same and having then found them to be proper, therefore be it resolved that;
Estimates having been made by the Board of Commissioners of INDIAN RIVER MOSQUITQ, CON-
TROL DISTRICT,, and a certified copy of the resolution filed with this Board, as required by law,!
;rand as estimated by the Board of Commissioners, it is determined and hereby declared that a tag
(rate of Three and one-half (3.5) mills upon the do;lar be levied, and is hereby fixed and as-
loessed for the year 19469 on all of the property taxable for such purpose as provided by law in
!the County of Indian River, lying and being within the boundaries of said Indian River Mosquito
duly considered; therefore,

that a tax rate of one and eleven -twentieth mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby fix
ed and assessed, for the year 1946, on all of the property in the County of Indian River,lying
;and being in the boundaries of said Sebastian Inlet District, Four-fifths (4/5) mills of which
�Ishall be used solely for interest payments, when due,, -and to create a sinking fund for the
;ultimate redemption of Refunding Bonds of'said District dated July 1st, 1936 and three-fourths

Commission Gloveriintroduced the following resolution and moved its adoption,to-wits
WHEREAS, all acts having been performed and all proceedings had as required by law
and preliminary to the levy of taxes .in Indian River County, Florida for the year 1946; and,
WHEREAS, the respective boards and taxing districts being authorized to fix and levy
taxes upon property situated within Indian River County, Florida, as provided by law, fixed .i
such tax levies and have certified the same to this Board and this Board having considered the
same and having then found them to be proper, therefore be it resolved that:
Estimates having been made by the Board of Commissioners of the FLORIDA INLAND NAVI-
GATION DISTRICT, and a certified copy of the resolution filed with this Board, as required by !`
law, and as estimated by the said Board of Commissioners, it is determined and hereby declared
that a tax rate of One-tenth (1/10) mill updn the dollar, be levied, and is hereby fixed and

(lying and being within the boundaries of said Florida Inland Navigation District, the boundaries,
of said District being described as the entire County as a whole, One-twentieth(1/20) mill of

taxes upon property situated within Indian River County, Florida, as provided by law, fixed
such tax levies and have certified the same to this Board and this Board having considered the
same and having then found them to be proper, therefore be it resolved that;
To meet the current expenses incidental and necessary to the operation of the Public
Schools of the County, and to pay the salaries of teachers, bus drivers and repair school hous
Land busses as estimated by the County Board of Public Instruction, the sum of $271,940.25, it
'is determined and hereby declared that a tax tate of 4.5 -mills upon the #Iar be levied, asses

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rate of Taxation necessary to meet the expenditures

!1947 pursuant to the budget of said Board as heretofore published, amended and approved, is as
°hereinafter levied and that the tax rate as hereinafter shown and set forth, be and it is here-

In order to meet the estimated current expenses of the County of Indian River of the
"sum of $58,075.00, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of two and two-fifths
(2 2/5) mills upon the dollar be levied and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying

Mand being in the County of Indian River on the first day of January 19469 for the GENERAL REVEN
0 FFUJD, to meet the current expenses of the County and to provide for the expenditures as

To cover the amount of the estimated expenses for keeping the County Roads in good
;'shape and for the construction and repairing of bridges and other necessary expenses to keep
the roads of the County in good condition and provide other roads when necessary of $72,905.00,
it is ddtermined and hereby declared that a tax rote of Five and one-fifth (5 1/5) mills upon
the dollar be levied, assessed and is hereby imposed upon all of ;the property lking and beim
in the County of Indian River on the first day of January, 1946, to meet the current expenses
of the County as estimated in the budget for the ROAD &:MDGEEFUND.
According to the millage so determined, fixed, assessed the total millage to be en-
tered in the column provided for the County taxes in the assessment Poll for the year 1946, is

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Tax Assessor in and for Indian River County, Florida,
be and he is hereby directed to assess afld levy the foregoing taxes as fixed by this Board upon
'the taxable property in Indian River County subject thereto, and that he extend such taxes on

;the valuation of such/according to said millage as fixed and determined and levied by this

;!Board as provided by law; that a certified copy of this resolution be furnished to the Cou#y
Tax Assessor.
The motion for the adoption df the Saidgresolution for the levy of taxes was seconded

The Board of County'Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in
Vero Beach, at 10:00 o'clock, A. M. Tuesday, September 3, 1946, in regular meeting with all
members present. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney; E. E. Carter, County En-
gineer; L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff; and Douglas Baker_, Clerk.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Lim Knight, Frank Norman, Jimmy Reams and Herb S. Huy appeared before the Board as
�a committee from the Rod and Gun Club and requested a report as to the Blue Cyprus Lake road
