i . p; The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River. County met at the Court House in Vero Beach, Flori.da3 at 7s30 o'clock P. Mol Monday, February 17, 39479in a speciate meeting • 6 with the following members of the Board presents W. C. Graves, dr., Chairman; R. W., Graves, Albert 0, Helseth, Frank Co Vickers* Absents S. B. Glover. Also present were Charles A. and i,Mltchellq Attorneyi/DoUglas Baker, Clorki together with Honorable Alex MaciWilliamt Representa- tive, W. A. Slewertq J. R. Gaztam'b de, J. M. Forming, and Z. L. Helplinge Chairman Graves announced this meeting was held for the purpose of meeting with Representative HacWilliam in order that possible legislation affecting this County by taUtion and pursuant to Mr, MaeWili am's recent Inquiry addressed to the Count'! ' COM1081oners with ra- !spect to possible Legislation. Several Legislative bills were discussed, and it was the consensus of 40P opinion V �i of those present that nam-Ieglslation should be introduced in the Coming Legislature with. r egard Ii to supplementing the hospital drive with Race -Tract Funds if needed. Also with regard to a flat filing fee for the Cleric Circuit Court with regard to civil r� cases for both Circuit and County Courts. Also with regard to requesting the State Road Department take over the maintenance i. gad operation of the peninsula road leading south from Riomar to the St. Lucie County, line. 11 Also with regard to extending or enlarging the Indian River Mosquito Control District requested however this would be by the people residing in the area which is not at present a 11part of the Indian Aivor Mosquito Control District, The Board agreed to Incur -,-expenses not to exeded the sum of $200.00 for additional legal services as may be requested by Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney. Notary Public bond for C. A. Routh in the sum of $500.00 with American Surety Company "As suretywas approved February nary 6, 1947 by Douglas Raker, Clerk, as provided by Law. M., Tuesday, March 49 19479 in regular meeting with the1 following members of the Board presents W. C. Graves' Jr., Chairman; Frank C. Vickers, R. W. Graves, S. E. Glover. Absents Albert 0. Helseth. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, .Attbrh+ey; L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff; E. E. Carter, Engineer; and Douglas Bakerl'Clerk. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved* a' upon application from Glenn and Mike Smith the Board agreed for them to care for and [look after the Courthouse grounds, shrubbery, etc., and instructed Douglas Baker, Clerk$ to (write 'a letter to Mr. Harry W. Damerow9 Superintendent of Public Works expressing the appreel- ation of this Board for the services previously rendered by the City of Vero Beach with regard to this work. Jimmie Barry of Ft. Pierce, a member of the Board of County Commissioners and C of the St. Lucie County Welfare Board was invited to meet with this Board an Thurgday, larch 139 for the purpose of explaining the organization and operation of their County Welfare Board. A report was received from the office of Marcel A• Boudet, County Agent, of his activities for the month of February which was orderer filed with the Clerk. Tax Collector, Troy L. M., Thursday, March 13, 19)t?, in special meeting with the following members of the Board presents W. C. Graves, Jr.', Chairman; Albert 0. Helseth,, and B. B. Glover,/Frank C. Vickers. Absents R. W. Graves. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, j,Attorney; Alice Helleso, County Nurse; J. L. Helpling, and Douglas Baker, Clerk,- Chairman Graves announced this meeting was held for the purpose of receiving i 'ar�- i ; �, mation from Jimmie Barry of Ft. Pierce with regard to the 3t. *Lueie Coanty Welfare organization ±� 'and operation. Jimmie Barry appeared before the Board and furnished information as he had been re- quested and was very helpful in presenting the matter of the organisation and operation of .3 the Gt. Lucie Counter Welfare Board for the purpose of giving such information to thls Board so 61that they would be more familiar with such in the event it was determined advisable to try to: similar organIxe-: board in Indian River County. At the conclusion of the meeting each one present expressed his sincere appreciation to Wr. Barry and his presence at the meeting, and for the valuable information furnished by hila*, County Commissioner's bond for J.JL.'Heipling' District No. 2, In the sum.of $29000 with U, 3.
