The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Application to transfer beverage license No. 26 fromEarl Duffield to William Hall
(Hall's Grocery) located on Dixie highway hotth of Sebastian was approved. 4!
Application to transfer name only (same individuali' license No. 28) from Alberta
Barkley to Alberta Martin (Martin's Cafe) Gifford, Florida, was approved.

Mrs. Radin presented hospital report with regard to County patients and the financial
'status of same. Said report was received and ordered filed by the Clerk.

On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board decided to discontinue $50.00
deductible collision and comprehensive insurance on 1947 Ford one-half ton Pick-up truck,
I Motor No. 799C-1316989, F. W, RbdenUartr agent.
The Boatd authorized payment of $25.00 from the General Revenue Fund to Pauline
Allen and grocery orders in the sum of $10.00 per week for welfare until the further orders
of the Board. I,,
Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney9was requested to prepare Notice for Bids to buy and/or
buy and lease the building on the east end of the Winter Beach bridge, said notice returnable
Tuesday, November 4, 1947.
It was ordered W. H. Walker, Winter Beach bridge tendef, be given notice that his
services are no longer needed or necessary, and that same would be discontinued as of October
109 1947, and that he should be paid to this date.
$ E S O L U T I O N
Commissioner Helpling introduced the following Resulution and moved its adoption as
follows, to -wits
RESOLVED that E. E. Carter, County Engineer of Indian River bounty, is herewith
�jauthorized and directed to contact War Assets Administration and any and all other departments,
jbureaus, and ,agencies of the federal government for the purpose of obtaining equipment and
aterial to relieve and rehabilitate distress and damage caused by the recent hurricane and

(flood and to obtain such equipment and -material,

l BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution be delivered to
far. Carter as evidencing his authority hereby and thata certified copy be furnished to any
Ifederal agency', authority, bureau or department requesting the same.
Motion for the adoption of the Resolution was made by Commissioner Helseth and
iunanimously carried.
Mrs. Maude Lambert was employed,on a trial basis, as County Nurse effective October 1,1

11947, at a salary of $175.00 per month.
The County Assessor of Taxes, Homer C. Fletcher, appeared before the Board and pre -
j sented the tax rolls for the year 1947,on Real and Personal Property and also Intangible Tax I
Roll, which were carefully examined and found correct and on motion made by S. E. Glover, se -
Bonded by Frank C. Vickers' and carried, were approved, and the warrants to each of said rolls
f were annexed thereto and is in words and figures followings

On motion made by Commissioner Glover, seconded by Commissioner Vickers and
carried, the Board approved the following personnel for the Indian River County Health Units
Dr. J. C. Weeks
Alice Helleso, Nurse
Mary Poole, Nurse
Marion Stough' Clerk
Douglas Baker, Clerk, wassinstructed to write a letter to the Indian River County Health Unit
advising the action of the Board in this respect.

Upon Motion of Commissioner Vickers seconded by Commissioner Helpling and carried,
,,,it was determined that this Board herewith recognizes the sum of $500.00 to be a reasonable
p
land proper allowance to the County Tax Assessor for the use of his persmial automobile in con-
vection with the duties of such office in the year 1947 and a like sum in each subsequent year
until the provisions of this motion shall be rescinded'of modified by this board; that this
motion shall hot be deemed to mean an additional payment by this board or of this County to the
County Tax Assessor of such amount or that said board or county shall have any interest in
such car but rather that this motion is for the purpose of approving the charge of such amount
for such purpose upon the books and records of the County Tax Assessor in setting up the ex -
penes of his office and in arriving at the net receipts of such office.

Commissioner Glover introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption as
follows, to -wits
11 WHEREAS9 by Chapter 128909 Laws of Florida, Acts of the 1927 Legislature, the Board
of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, is the ex officio Board of Commission-
�ers of Vero Bridge District, a public taxing district organized and existing under the pro-
visions of Chapter 81849 Laws of Florida, Acts of the 1919 Legislature; and,
'j WHEREAS, it is the duty and responsibility of said Board to provide and maintain a
a
!11suitable bridge across the Indian River and within said District and the State Road Department
1of Florida has requested conveyance to the State of Florida by this Board of a parcel of land
Ito be used in the providing and maintaining of such bridge by said State Road Department and
4hich parcel of land is situated in Indian River County, Florida, described as follows, to -wit:

!b All that part of the following described tract of land beginning at a point 1105 feet
,east of and 927 feet North of the SW,corner of Section 319 Township 32 South, Range 40 East,
and the west edge of Indian River; thence West 100 feet; thence South 100 feet; thence East to

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County' Florida,
is authorized and directed to executes in behalf of Vero Bridge District and as the ex officio
Board of Commissioners of Vero Bridge District, a deed conveying the above described real pro-
perty to the State of Florida.
The motion for the adoption of the said Resolution was duly seconded by Commissioner
Vickers, and unanimously, adopted.
The Board approved the printing of a number of booklets containing tax information

i regarding Indian River County not to exceed the cost of $50.00, said booklets to be attached
to Tax Notices and mailed out to the several tag payers by Troy E. Doody, Tax Collector,
Alice Helleso, County Nurse, appeared before the Board and submitted a report of her
activities for the month of September. Said report was received and ordered filed with the
Clerk,
M. A. Boudet, County Agent, submitted a report of his activities for the month of

investigated said matter and,being fully satisfied that said claim is a valid one,
It is considered and ordered, upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, that the
Clerk of -the Circuit Court of Indian River County be and he is hereby instructed to issue a
duplicate Tax Sale Certificate in favor of the above named applicant in lieu of the Certifi-

of election districts; however, no action was taken at this meeting as the matter would be
further discussed and considered at a regular adjourned meeting.

MacWilliam regarding recreational pier at Winter Beach. Said committee meeting or report was

The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined;
and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and ac-'
i; counts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Warrants so issued
from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the
rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a
ai
part of these minutes.
The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements
of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct.
There being no further business on motion made, seconded -and carried, the Board

SATUMAL OCTOBER 11' 1947.
An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River
County, Florida, was held in the County Commissioners Meeting Room in the Indian River County
Courthouse at Vero Beach, ffiorida, at 3:00 P. M. October 11, 1947. Chairman W. C. Graves, Jr.,
presided. Present were Commissioners W. C. Graves, Jr., S. E. Glover, J. L. Helpling, Albert 0„
k Helseth and Frank C. Vickers; also Clerk of the Circuit Court Douglas Baker, Board Attorney,
,Charles A. Mitchell, and County Road Superintendent, E. E. Carter. The Chairman announced that
all members of the Board were present.
Commissioner S. E. Glover -introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption
and which motion for the adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Commissioner Frank C.
Vickers. Upon roll call, the Resolution was unanimously adopted by the following votes
