M., Tuesday, June 1, 1948, in regular meeting with the following members of the Board presents W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman; Albert 0. Helseth, i J. L. Belpling, S. E. Glover, and Frank C. Vickers. Also present were S. N. Smith, Jr. of the law firm of Mitchell, Smith & Mitchell; E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent; 'L. B. O'Steen, , Shefiff yard Douglas Baker, Clerk. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. I On May 22, 1948, the Board approved application for admission to the Florida State 'Tuberculosis Sanitorium for Corne#lius L. Coplin (colored), Spillway. ii Messrs. Gardner, Peoples, Cox and Thatcher appeared before the Board as a Committee �representirig the Indian River County Hospital Association and requested the Board give serious ,thought to and advise said Committee as soon as possible as to what amount or how much might �'be available in financial assistance toward the construction of a new hospital during the Board's 1948-1949 fiscal year which is from October 1, 1948 to and including September 309 1949.. Mrs. Ann C. Bunch, Director of District No. 10 Welfare Board$ Wesp Palm Beach$ and Diss Mary Klueppelberg, Child Welfare aid, Fort Pierce, Florida$ and Warren T. Zeuch, member qof the State Welfare Board, appeared before the Board and requested an appropriation of $2,000.0p for 6hild welfare work in Indian River County for the Board's fiscal year of 1948-1949• N' Dr. Hague of the County Health Unit appeared before the Board and gave a report as to !, �Ithe activities of said health unit covering a period of three months and stated that it was !,'.desired in addition to the regular amount appropriated for the County Health Unit that an o;additional $40.00 peP month to be used toward the use of an old man for County Sanitary p �' officer. Application for transfer of beverage license No. 41, from Alex MacWilliam to Edward Thomas "The Tropics?" (formerly Club Mae) was approved. a„ Record Auditor Mr. Paul Shaw appeared before the Board and discussed with the `IBoard the advisability of having cancelled certain bonds and coupons which had been accepted !by the Clerk in payment of delihquent taxes. Attorney Smith was instructed to confer with "Mr. Shaw regarding this matter and handle same in such.a manner as would be advisable and bendfieial to Indian River County. M. A. Boudet, County Agent, presented a report of his activities for the month of May sand said report was ordered filed with the Clerk. Mr. Boudet a+so-requested the approval of q''expenses of the boys to attend the 4-H Club camp this summer, said request was granted by the r Board. Commissioner J. L. Helpling from Wabasso stated that he was opposed to the construe4 ;',tion of the Blue Cypress Lake road because$ in his opinion, there were other roads in the �ICounty which needed repairing and constructing which are more necessary% tential to the citizens and tax payers of Indian River County. 0 11 1 0 0 1 1 0 0 LJI { I� The Board approved payment for the election officials who conducted the primary and ®lection on May 25, 1948, in the sum of $8.00 for each official plus $2.00 ileage for the !Iperson delivering the Ballow box and $6.00 for each Deputy Sheriff., The Board also approved lithe sum of $6.00 for each election official -plus $2.00 in mileage for the person delivering i! ;the ballot box for the Primary Election held June 4, 1948.
