The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited,were examined and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settlembnt of same. Such bills and I accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the 'Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, as provided by the ! rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes. The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disbursements of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the Board adjourned to meet in special session as equalization Board at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A. M., Tuesday July 20, 1948, and also to meet in regular adjourned session on the same date for the purpose of other business properly brought before the Board. R E S O L U T I O N The following Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Helseth who moved its a- doption as follows, to -wit: WHEREAS, the County Assessor of taxes has completed his Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1948 and has presented the same to this Board on this day as provided by law; and, WHEREAS, due notice has been given by publication in the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper of general circulation published in Indian River County' Florida, at least 15 days before this date that this Board will be in session for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property as fixed and assessed by the County Assessor of Taxes and as will more fully appear by proof of publication of such notice tiled with the minutes of this meeting; and, WHEREAS, this Board has met this day and has heard any complaints and has received any testimony offered as aforesaid and has not deemed it necessary to make any increase in any values fixed by the County Assessor of Taxes as to any property on said tax roll and has given full consideration to all m atters pertaining to the same and has equalized the same; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,Flortida, does herewith determine that said tax roll as presented by the County Assessor of taxes is per- fected, revs®wed and equalized and that the same is herewith approved and confirmed. The motion for the adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Commissioner Helpling and unanimously carried. - - - - - - - - - On motion made by Commissioner Helseth' seconded by Commissioner Helpling and unan- imously carried all rejections were approved by the Board as submitted by Homer C. ' Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney, E. E• Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, and Douglas Baker, Clerk, were instructed to arrange for preparing Notice for Bids on furnishing end installing gas heaters for the Court House, Paul Goodridge, Raymond Smith, Bill Smith, Harry MacDonald and Mrs. Virginia Wiggan appeared before the Board and referred to a 1941 act empowering the County Commissioners to set up a County Zoning Commission. They were advised such a commission had been appointed in May or June of 1942, and that the Governor had been requested to appoint an adjustment board at the same time; however, it was the Board's opinion that such an adjustment Board had never been appointed by the Governor, and that the County Zoning Commission appointed by this Board was inactive. Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney' was furnished with this information and requested to determine the present status of the Zoning Commission and Adjustment Board f and advise the interested parties and this Board as to such information as determined. Sheriff L. B?. O'Steen requested the Board to purchase a two-way radio set or system for the deputy sheriff's car. Said radio set to cost six or seven -hundred dollars. This request was granted and payment for same was authorized to be made from the Fine and Forfeiture Transfer of beverage license No. 22 from J. F. Louzon and B. Van Zandt to J• F. Louzon (Winter Beach Grill) Winter Beach, Florida,was approved. The Board authorized payment of $100.00 on doctor bill for Mrs. Caroline Redstone. As recommended byJMM Auditor,Mr. Shaw, The Board authorized payments in the in the sum of $25.00 per month paid to Douglas Baker, Clerk, for Reaping the records and making distribution from the proceeds of the Sale of County lands to be charged to salary under No. 211 in lieu of No. 264 in the General Revenue Fund for the remainder of the fiscal year 1947-1948. The tax books being_,r@ady to be returned to the Tax Assessor for the purpose of ex- tending the taxes thereon as provided by the law the Board of County Commissioners took up the matter of making an estimate of the necessary expenses for the fiscal year from October 1st, 19,to the 30th day.of September 19449' and having considered the receipts estimated by the Clerk and the Tax Assessor having given full# consideration to the needs and necessities of the'COunty and the requirements for the different purposes to meet the expenses during the said fiscal year, have determined and do hereby declare the following to be the expenses and all special and extra -ordinary expenses contemplated for the fiscal year next ensuing find for which the revenue for the year 1940 from ad valorem taxation and the estimated receipts from- other-sources rom other-sources will be available.
