The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in
Vero Beach' Floridaq at 10:00 A. M., Tuesdayq Rafch,. ,` 1949, in regular meeting with the
following members of the Board presents W. C. Graves' Jr.� Chairman; J. L. Helpling' Aubrey
J
L. Waddell, Tom N. Stewart and W. C. Watts. Also present were Charles A. Mitche;;q Attorney;
E. E. Carter$ Road and Bridge Superintendent; L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff; and Douglas Bakers Clerk.
The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved upon motion of
Commissioner Stewart' seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried.
County Agent' M. A. Boudet' appeared before the Boards filed a report of his
activities for the month of Rebruary' submitted plan of work for the next years and reported
as to the Indian River exhibit at the Florida State Fair and Gasparilla held at Tampa'
Florida., A letter of commendation was received from the State Fair and Gasparilla Association']
Inc., -relating to the splendid exhibit and servicee rendered by_County Agants $outlet. f`
Beset also brought the matter of County width fire control before the Board
and stated he had received a letter from Mr. E. W. Kreher' District Forrester' Bos 53:
Lakeland, Florida' with regard to conservation and fire corhl in Indian River County' and
it was thereupon determined advisable to invite Mr. Kreher to attend the next regular meeting
of this Board to be held Tuesday' April 5, 1949' for further discussion in the matter.
A letter was received from Mr. Charles E. Duncan calling attention with regard to
protecting natural resourcesl grove and residential property from destruction by fire and
referred to a saw -mill being operated on Clemmon Avenue 100 yards South of State road 60, as
being a fire hazard in deposits of waste lumbers slats and scraps by burning on the premis6s.
-The Board appointed a committee of Charles A. Mitchell and E. T. Carter to contact
Mr. Mullins operator of the saw -mill to determine the proper way in which to handle the zbttek.
The Board executed County Deed No. 291 under provisions of Chapter 194' Florida Stat-".

(2) That said Tax Sale Certificate' or any interest therein' has not been hypothe-
cated, sold, assignedg transferred or delivered by me and I have received no consideration
therefor.
(3) That said Tax Sale Certificate has been lost or destroyed and that I have

made diligent search and am unable to locate said1rtificate.
(4) That if duplicate Certificate is issued in lieu thereof and the original
should at any time be located, the same will be surrendered to the Clerk of the Circuit

(5) That I, Paul Bsrkwell, as a further consideration acknowledge myself held and
!firmly bound unto Douglas Baker, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Indian River County, and his
successors in office, in the sum of $10.989 being double the amount of the face value of said
Tax Certificate, for payment whereof well and truly to be made, I bind myself, heirs, exe-
cutors and administrators firmly by these presents should said Certificate be presented by
any person whomsoever, assigned or otherwise, for payment or application for Tax Deed thereon.
I solemnly swear, or affirm, that the statements contained herein in support of my
application for issuance of duplicate Tax Sale Certificate, are true and correct. So help

On motion of Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the
Board authorized a Deed to be issued to the City of Vero'$each as to the South 80 feet of
the Southwest quarter(SW*) of the Southeast quarter (SES) of Section 2, Twp.33 South, Range
39 East, less the East 400 feet thereof. Said Deed or dedication to provide that the pro-
perty shall be used for no purpose other than public street right-of-way and to revert in
case it is otherwise used.
