Such bills and accounts being on filecan the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book, IC e as provided by the rules of the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being made a part of these minutes. The County Depository filed its monthly statement, shoving receipts and disburse- ments of the various funds, which having been audited were found to be correct. f There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board iI then adjourned. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House in Vero Beach, Florida, at 10:00 A. M., Wedn®sd y4l.-May;'45J ,-1949t in special meeting with the following members presents W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman; Tom N. Stewart, and Aubrey Waddell. Absent: H. C. Watts and J. L. Helpling. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney, r. and Douglas Baker, Clerk. Chairman Graves announced this meeting was held for the purpose of reviewing beverage license applications and such other business as might be properly brought before the Board. Application for beverage license Series 10-C Club license to sell to members and non-residdntrguests only of B. P. 0. E., Vero Beach Lodge No. 17749 corner of 12th Avenue and 26th Street, Vero Beach, Florida was approved. Notary Public Bond for Ophelia K. Bailey in the sum of $500.00 with Fireman's Fund Indemnity gompany as surety was approved May 11, 1949, by Dou&s Baker, Clerk Circuit Court as provided by law. There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried, the Board then ad j ourned. M., Tuesday, June 79 1949, in regular meeting with the following members of the Board presents J. L. Helpling, Chairman Pro -Tem; Tom N. Stewart, Aubrey L. Waddell and H. C. Watts. Absent: Chairman W. C. Graves, Jr. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney,; Sheriff L. B. O'Steen, and Douglas Baker, Clerk. On.motion duly made, seconded and carried the minates of the previous meetings were read and approved as read. Alice Helleso from the County Health Unit appeared before the Board regarding child of Mrs. Chastain, and the case was referred to Commissioner Waddell. Mrs. Dell Datgneau of Sebastian appeared before the Board requesting assistance for her family, and this was referred to Commissioner Watts, V, I BI 0 1 1 0 11 1 • 1 b19 f r Cdr. Willie Fudge and wife appeared before the Board requesting transportation to Fort Worthj. Texas; however, the Board agreed to furnish transportation to Jacksonville plus o' d i an amount for food. j Mr. Warren T. Zeuch appeared before the Board requesting a portion of the County's I i. insurance business. Upon motion of Commissioner Stewart' seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, it was agreed that Mr. Zeuch should receive a portion of the County's insurance business in the future. p On motion made by Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried' �l it was agreed to give to the City of Sebastian the fire truck which was located there. Application of Willie Welsch, Wabasso, Florida, for admission to the Florida State Tuberculosis Sanitorium was approved. At the request of Dr. Hague of the County Health Unit, it was moved by Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Watts and carried! and E. E. Carter, County Road and Bridge Superintendent was instructed to put up signs for and as directed by Dr. Hague. Henry Gavin and Lucille Mitchell appeared before the Board to* welfare assistanee and were referred to Commissioner Waddell. It was ordered that Miss Verna McGee be re -instated as nurse with the County Health Department together with Alice Helleso when she returned to Vero Beach in September. Sheriff L. B. O'Steen requested the County Commissioners to inspect the jail. Garnet Radin, Superintendent of the Indian River County Hospital appe dd �befcr e Board and presented a financial summary as to hospital expenses. It was ordered that Warrant in the sum of $5,000.009 representing Race Track Funds, be issued from the General Revenue Fund to the Indian River County Hospital Association for the hospital building fund as provided in the budget. Application fdr transportation of Henry Jackson to Tampa was referred to Commissioner Watts. On motion of -Commissioner Stewart seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, it was ordered that a check in the sum of $108.50 be issued from the General Revenue Fund to Francis and Jenny for,the cost of right -of -way -for State road No. 512. County Deed No. 295 was executed by the Board under provisions Of Chapter 22079, Laws of Florida. Application for transfer of beverage license No. 4 from Ralph S. Norris to D. B. Potts (Paradise Inn) was approved. Application for transfer of beverage 1leame No. 25 (transfer of trade name only) from The Tropics by Edgard K. Thomas to Ocean Tlew Im, Beachland Boulevard was -approved. Application for transfer of beverage license No. 30 (transfer of location only) from Burel Kinston, Lot 51 Block 7, B. T. Washington S/D to Burel Kinston (Lot 1, Block 59 ligo T. Washington S/D) was approved. Application for beverage license (Series 2 COP in wet counties only) for Thelma �! Hash, Friendly Cafe, Spillway, was approved. Quayle, deceased, being the owner of Tax Sales Certificates Nos. 936 and 937, sale of 1928 for 1927 taxes. Stewart who moved Its adoption as follows, to -wits ii WHEREAS, the haws of Florida provide that,, -,the County Assessor of Taxes shall complete the assessment rolls on or before the first Monday in July and shall meet with this Board at the Clerk's office on such day for the purpose of hearing complaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real or personal, as fixed by the County Assessor of Taxes and for the purpose of perfecting, reviewing and equalizing the assessment and that the County Commissioners, as they deem it necessary, may extend the time for the completion of such Assessment Roll and for the purpose of revising and equalizing the assessment for a period not exceeding Thirty (30) days; and, WHEREAS, the first Monday in July' 1949' is 4uly 4th, a legal holiday and the holding of such meeting would be inconvenient to tax payers and property owners on such day and that for this reason and for other reasons the County Commissioners of Indian River County deem it necessary to extend the time for such meeting for One (1) day; therefa®re, BE IT RESOLVED, that the time within which the County Assessor of Taxes shall complete said assessment rolls and shall meet with the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of a hearing thereon and of perfecting the same as above recited be and it is extended I� �j to and including Tuesday' July 5, 1949. Helpling, Chairman a Pro -Tem; H. C. Watts, and Aubrey L. Waddell* Absent: Tom N. Stewart and W. C. Graves, Jr., a Chairman. Also present were Charles A. Mitchell, Attorney, Douglas Baker, Clerk; B. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent; and Jack Jennings. Also in attendance representing the Board of Public Instraetion were Superintendent J. A. Thompson, Mrs. S. B. Taylor, Sam �i Smith and Mayor Medlin. Representing City of Vero Beach were Mayor M. P. Barber, Charles A. Pinson, H. H. Gifford, and Charles A. Jewett. I This meeting was held for theburpose of and with, regard to the construction building and repairing of roads pertaining to thelaew athlbbtld field, and after the roads i in question were designated on a map by Mr...Jack Jennings, it was thereupon agreed by the 6'. Board of County Commissioners that they Would assume the responsibility of fixing culvert and widening the road on 17th Avenue from the northeast corner of the jail property going a" south to the athletic field. representing the ;City of Vero Beach The mayor together with the street and sidewalk committees /stated that they would recommend to the City Council and felt sure their recommendation would be approved, whereupon the City would assume the responsibility of constructing or repairing the road on the east side of the athletic field. No action was taken as to the constructing and repairing of the road which would two run east and west and connect up with the -,oWl% roads heretofore mentioned as the Board I�� of County Commissioners agreed that this would be a future project which would require futther' consideration in the matter. It was ordered that a check be issued to the Indian River County Chapter Red Cross in the sum of $50.00 from the General Revenue Fund towards the cost of attendance at acquatic school in connection with Youth Inc® swimming project.
