Vero Beach, Florida Dear Mr. Fletcher: - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - July 2, 1949 The follfving described property is owned by the Independent Fruit Growers: Page 102, west half of east half of southwest quarter, section 239 township 319 range 399 and Page 1039 Lot 3 and part of lot 4, section 26, township.31, range 39. It will be noted that the taxes on this property were as followss 1945 - $519.90 1946 -, 674.50 1947 790.40 --- 1948 - 985.32 Originally, this grove -had 5800 trees in it. Due to the high water it -has been necessary to replant 500 scattered through the grove, and to take out 1200 and start all over again. The following Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Watts who moved its adoption c, as follows, to -wits i' WHEREAS, under and by virtue of the provisions of the laws of Florida and, Parti- cularly, Chapter 259059 Acts of 1949, Indian River County, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of said County, is authorized to establish and set up a county fire control it unit and to enter into a coop®rative agreement for such purpose with the -Florida Board of d Parks; nd Forestry ana Pursuant to said laws of Florida, and in accord therewith, a cooperative agreement ^' dated July 5th, 1949, has been prepared for execution by Indian River County, acting by and through its Board of County Commissioners, and the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks; and, WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County has determined and does herewith determine that it is beneficial to Indian River County to execute such li cooperative agreement and to provide for such fire control unit in said Coupty; therefdre, BE IT RESOLVED That the Chairman and Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County are Herewith authorized and directed to execute said cooperative agreement between said County and the Florida Board of Forestry and Parks and in behalf of said County and of this Board and in their respective official capacities and to affix thereto all nec- essary officialsseals and to deliver such exeucted agreements to Florida Board of Forestry and u Parks. Jewett, Attorney and member of the City Council of Vero Beach, the following Resolution was adopted. s The following Resolution was introduced by Commissioner Stewart who moved its adoption as follows, ,to -wits r Whereas, the City of Vero Beach has applied to the Bureau of Land Management, Department of Interior, of the United States, to acquire title to the former Bethel Creek House of Refuge Reservation for park purposes, 'j and Whereas, the regulations require the approval of the County Commissioners before ! the Government will transfer title to a municipality for park purposes; and Whereas, it is for -the best interests of the citizens of Indian River County that the City of Vero Beach acquire this property from the Government for park purposes, NOW, THEREFORE9 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMIISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDDAs Section 1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida do hereby u i approve the application of the City of Vero Beach to acquire title to the former Bethel G� Creek House of Refuge Reservation for park purposes. The Board then proceeded to approve,&'the retain commissions due the Serener Assessor of Taxes' Homer C. Fletcher, from the various and several special taxing distrtets within the • !County, for retain commissions due for assessing the taxes and comparing the tax roll for the ;year 1948 as shown by the E. & I. report filed by Honorable Troy E. Moody' Tax Collector of Indian River County as indicated on statements submitted by UreFUtchaqland on motion made by H. C. Watts, seconded by Tom N. Stewart and carried, were approved by the Board. The County Depository filed its monthly statements showing receipts and disbuseaefts, of the various funds$ which having been audited were found to be correct.
