S. #1 south of the curve in the southern, portion of the County. Chairman Stewart advised the Board an additional sum of $176.07 was reg1Q69ted as the County's portion of the cost of the dedication of the Merrill P. Barber Bridges and upon motion of Commissioner Hamilton~ seconded by Commissioner Waddell and unanimously carried, this amount was ordered paid to the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce for said purpose. Douglas Bakers Clerks was instructed to write a letter to the City of Vero Beach and to the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce requesting them to please not obligate the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of making expenditures in behalf of the Brooklyn Dodgers without first consulting the Board regarding same* the several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were ex- amined and found'eorrectj were approved and warrants issued in settlement of same. Such bills and accounts being on filedin the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Warrants so issued from the respective funds being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book' as provided by the rules of the State Auditors reference to such_r ecord and the list so recorded being made -a part of these minutes. The County Depository filed its monthly statement, showing receipts and disburse- ments of the various funds, which having been audited were found to -be correet. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County meta:at the Court House in regular, meeting at 1Os00 o'clock A. M.! Tuesday, p,. y'. 1' 19519 with the following members presents Tom N. Stewart, Chairman; W. C. Graves' Jr -9 H. C. Watts, Aubrey L. Waddell, and J. J. P. Hamiltons Also present were L. B. O'Steen,' Sheriff; George Heath, Attorney from the firm of Mitchell, Smith & Mitchell; and Douglas Bakers Clerk. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and the same were approved upon motion of Commissioner Hamilton seconded by Commissioner Vaddeil and unanimously carried. A. I Anne Christensent County Welfare Case Workers appeared before the Board and made a report of her activities for the month of Aprils 1951. Upon motion of Commissioner Hamilton9 seconded by Commissioner Gravgs and carried, Douglas Bakers Clerk$ was instructed to receive an additional $10.00 from Perry Stacy County Road and Bridge Employee to be applied on the hospital account for Mrs. Stacyt and that the remainder of said account would be paid by or applied on the hospital account of the County. ,,� 'Ten -dollars was received from Mrs. Christensen on the Rosco Chapman account and same deposited in the General Revenue Fund. County Deed #328 was executed under chapter 23831, Acts of 1937. Notary Public Bond for Roy Schick in the sum of $500.00 with St. Paul Mercury Indemnity Company of St. Paul Minn.9 was approved April 21, by Douglas Bakers Clerk Circuit Courts as provided by law. Notary Public Bond for Charles A. Ovens of Wabasso discussed the matter of a caution or blinker./at the cross roads in Wabasso, and Commissioner Stewart appointed Commissioner Hamilton and Watts as a_ committee to work with Rev. Owens in the matter and to confer with and obtain the County Attorney's opinion when all information had been obtained -together with the costs and report back to this Board. Attorney George Heath was instructed to prepare a Notice Inviting Bids on address plates for the office of the Supervisor of Registration. Notion was made by Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried as to the advertising for bids. A letter was received from J. A.,Thompson, County School Superintendent,with regard to the need of some grading, filling, leveling, etc. of the school grounds between the present buildings and the football field, requesting the use of City and County equipment, and that the school Board would pay the cost of operation of such equipment. A committee considting and Chairman Stewart,/E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, was selected from this Board to work with Superintendent Thompson and Councilman Lou Berger of the City of Vero Beach, with the understanding that said committee would have power to act after mutual and satis- factory plans and arrangements had been made. A letter was received from the Indian River County chapter American Red Cross re - questing funds to purchase a new station wagon stating that the Rotary Club and City of Vero Beach had made contributions for the purchase of the station wagon. Upon motion of Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, the Board agreed to contribute a like amount for the purchase of the station wagon as was contributed by the City of Vero Beach. Said amount, however, was not stated. The Board authorized and instructed E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent, for to make or have prepared stencils to be used/by designating certain roads within the County and to print the name of Indian River County on County machinery, ad equipment. Homer Fletcher, Tax Assessor, appeared before the Board and requested permission to purchase new sheets and a binder for his plat book records, stating that same could be purchased from the Morse Prij tia- gCompany for approximately $140.00. Upon motion of Commissioner Graves, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, said request was granted. E S 4 L U T 0 S - REGULATING CLOSING HQURS ,AS TO SLE OF ALM= BEVERAGES Commissioner Hamilton introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption as follows, to -wits BE* IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Floridag that said Board does herewith independently regulate the hours of sale of alcoholic beverages within the territory -of Indian River County, Florida, not included within any municipality$ as follows, to -wits 1.. No alcoholic beverages, that isp all beverages containing more than One per cent (1%) bf-alcohol by weighty may be sold,.consumed-or served or permitted to be served or consumed in any place holding a license under the State Beverage Department of Florida be- tween the hours of 1s00 o'clock A. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent; and Douglas Baker, Clerk; Minutes of the previous meeting were read and the same were approved upon motion of Commissioner Gravess-seconded by Commissioner Waddell and unanimously carried. Mr. Leon Finley before the Board regarding the extension of 20th Avenue to appeared 27th Street and this matter was referred to E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent. Mr. H. V. Barnett, of the Indian River County Florida Board of Forestry and Parks, appeared before the Board and announced that he had been promoted and was therefore leaving his position in Indian River County for another destination and presented -Mr. Howard Ellis as .A the new County Ranger.
