MONDAY, AUGUST 11, 1952
The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court at Vero Beach, Indian River County, on this the 11th day of August,
1952, at 9:00 o'clock A. M. in adjourned session as Equalization Board, as provided by law, with
the following members present: Aubrey L. Waddell, Vice Chairman; H. C. Watts,.J. J. P. Hamilton,
and Allison Warren; Absent: Chairman W. C. Graves, Jr. Also present were S. N. Smith, Jr.,
Attorney; E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge Superintendent; and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
The County Tax Assessor filed with the Clerk to the Board, and there was presented
to the Board at this meeting, the applications for the tax exemptions set out in the Resolution
next following herein, together with original notice of disapproval of said applications with
entry of service upon the respective applicants, and same were duly reviewed by the Board to-
gether with evidence presented to the Tax Assessor upon which the respective applicants based
their claims for exemption. No applicants appeared in person or by agent. Thereupon Commissioner
Watts introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption, to wit:
WHEREAS, original notice of disapproval of application for tax exemption with
entry of service upon the respective applicants therefor, as hereinafter listed, have been filed
with the Clerk of this Board as follows:

This Board, sitting as a Board of Equalization, has reviewed each of said appli-
cations
and evidence presented
to the Tax Assessor upon which applicant based his claim for ex-
emption,
and no persons having
appeared for hearing on said applications or any of them, and
each of
said applications and the disapproval thereof having been duly considered and reviewed
by this
Board, together with such evidence; therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED,
That the decision of the Tax Assessor with respect to each and all
the above described applications be and it is herewith affirmed.
Motion for the adoption of the Resolution was seconded by Commissioner Hamilton
and unanimously carried.

R E S O L U T I O N -- Approving 1952 Tax Roll
Commissioner Hamilton introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption
as follows, to -wit:
WHEREAS, due notice by publication thereof has been given that the County Assessor
of taxes of Indian River County, Florida, would meet with the Board of County Commissioners on
the 5th day of August, 1952, and would at such time present the tax assessment roll of said County
for the year 1952 for equalization as will appear by proof of publication of such notice re-
corded in the minutes of Atigust 5!,'1952.; aid,
WHEREAS, pursuantto such notice, the said County Tax Assessor did meet with the
Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, on the 5th day of August, 1952,
at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. in the Clerk's office in the Indian River County Courthouse,
Vero Beach, Florida, at which time it was determined that the tax assessment roll of said County
for the year 1952 was not complete and thereupon the said Board did adjourn to August 11, 1952,
at 9:00 o'clock A.M. and at said last mentioned date the said County Tax Assessor did meet with
the Board of County Commissioners in the Clerk's Office in the,Indian River County Courthouse,
Vero Beach, Florida, and did present the tax assessment roll of said County for the year 1952 and
the Board of County Commissioners has at this time convened as a Board of Equalization for the
purpose of examining said roll and of receiving complaints and testimony with re,
g_ar d to the same
and with reguard to the value of any property, real or personal, as fixed by the County Assessor
of taxes upon such roll; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has received such complaints and such
testimony offered, if any, and has examined and reviewed said assessment roll and has found it
unnecessary to increase the valuation of any property shown thereon and has found such assessment
roll to be correct; Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,
Florida, does herewith find the tax assessment roll of said County as presented for the year
1952 to be equal and just and does herewith approve, ratify and confirm the same.
UlDon being dull seconded by Commissioner Warren the same was unanimously ado ed.
This Board,'sitting as a Board of EqualizAtion, then adjourned and reconvened in
regular adjourned session.
'The Clerk of the Circuit Court (County Auditor) after tentatively ascertaining
the proposed fiscal policies of the Board for the ensuing fiscal year, from the 1st day of Octo-
ber, 1952, to the 30th day of September, 1953, prepared and presented to the Board a tentative
Budget for the ensuing fiscal year for each of the funds, as provided in Chapter 26874, Laws of
1951, including all estimated receipts, taxes to be levied, and balances expected to be brought
forward, and all estimated expenditures, reserves and balances to be carried over to the end of
the year, were ordered spread upon the minutes of the Board and transmit two copies of each of
the tentative budget to the Comptroller of the State of Florida, said copies to be certified by
the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners and by the County Auditor as a true and correct
copy of the Budget as adopted by the Board of County Commissioners and the original to be filed
as part of the records of the County, and is in words and figures as follows:

The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County met at the Court House
in Regular meeting at 9:00 o'clock A. M. Tuesday, September 2, 1952, with the following members
present: W. C. Graves, Jr., Chairman; H. C. Watts, J. J. P. Hamilton, Aubrey L. Waddell and
Allison Warren. Also present were S. N. Smith, Jr., Attorney; E. E. Carter, Road and Bridge
Superintendent; L. B. O'Steen, Sheriff; and Douglas Baker, Clerk.
Minutes of July 1st, 1952,were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried.
Minutes of July 3rd, 1952, were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Warren,- seconded by Commissioner Watts and carried.
Minutes of July 15th, 1952, were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and carried.
Minutes of July 23rd, 1952, were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Warren and carried.
Minutes of August 5th, 1952, were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Waddell,, seconded by Commissioner Watts and carried.
Minutes of August 11th, 1952, were read and approved on motion made by Commissioner
Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Watts and carried.
George Saunders and W. R. Duncan appeared before the Board regarding the Oslo
Cemetery and after considerable discussion in the matter, the Board authorized E. E. Carter,'
Road and Bridge Superintendent, to survey the land and put in corner markers and further stated
to Mr. ;Saunders that the County would cooperate by furnishing some equipment and labor on a
