The application of Mrs Jennie Evans of Fellemere fpr mothers pension was
approved and warrant ordered' issued each month to her order for $20.00.
E. G. Thadtcher, representing the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Board
regarding. publicity of the County. It was ordered that $750.00 be appro'priated for
the publication of 50,000 booklets advertising Indian River County.
The Board of County Commissioners then adjourned until Monday July 25th 1927.

The foregoing estimates as made by the ,Board and published in the Fero Beach
Press -Journal, a newspaper published in the County in the issue of said newspaper of
the 12th day of July 1927, was then taken up, considered, and finally adopted, with
the following minor changes therein:

The Board th n proceeded with the matter of fixing the rate of taxation for County
and `Special District purposes for the year 1927, and after a careful consideration df
the estimates of receipts and the estimates of expenditures it was the determination
of the Board that the rate of taxation necessary to meet.. such expenses would be for
each of the following mentioned purposes the amounts estimated, declared and levied,

in- order to meet the estimated current expenses of the County of Indian River
$269695.00, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Five (5) mills upon
the dollar be levied and is hereby imposed upon all of the property lying and being
in the County of Indian River on the first day of January 1927, for the GENERAL FUND,
to meet the current expenses of the County and to provide for the expenditure as esti-
mated in the budget hereinbefore set forth.
To meet the expenses estimated to be necessary to be paid out of the FINE & FOR-
FEITURE FUND, the sum of $14,630.00 it is determined and hereby declared that a tax
of Two (2) mills upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all
the property lying and being in the County of Indian River on the first day of January
1927, for the Fine & Forfeiture Fund, to meet the current expenses as estimated in the
budget.
To cover the amount of the estimated expenses for keeping the County Roads in good
shape and for the construction and repairing of bridges and other necessary expenses
to keep- Lhe roads of the County in good condition and provide other roads when necessary
of $115,325.00, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of Five (5) mills
upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all of the property
lying and being in the County of- Indian River on the first day of January 1927., to meet
the current expenses of the County as estimated in the Budget for the
OAD & BRIDGE
To meet the current expenses incidental and necessary to the operation of the
Public Schools of the County, and to pay the salaries of teachers and repairs school
houses as, estimated by the County Board of public Instruction, the sum of $79,535.00,it
is.determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of 'len (10) mills upon the dollar be
levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the property in the County of Indian
River on the first day of January 1927.
`1'o meet the interest payments and provide a sinking fund for the ultimate redemp-
tion of County Bonds, County Time warrants, and the pro -rata share of Boss and Time
Warrants issued by St. lucie County, and assumed by this County upon -its creation out
of a part of raid St. Lucie County, in pursuance of the requirenents of the law, the sum
of 054,458.75, it is determined and hereby declared that a tax rate of 12f mills upon
the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed upon all the property lying and
being in the County of Indian River on the first day of January 1927, which such tax
shall be known. as INTERE`5T & "SINKING FUND.
In order to provide .a fund for the payment of pensions to worthy widows, who have
children dependent upon them, and who are of school age, it is determined and hereby
declared that a tax rate of 1/2 mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby
imposed upon all the property lying and being in the County of Indian River on the first
day of January 1927, for such purpose, and said fund known. as MOTHERS PENSION FUDR.
In order to provide a fund for the general advertisement of the County at large,
and provide funds for the operation of the County Fair, and to stage an exhibit at the
South Florida Fair, and other such advertising of the resources and conditiogLe of the
County,
For the encouragement and protection of Agriculture as 'authorized under Chapter
73029 Acts of 1917, the sum of 03,825.00, it is determined and hereby declared that A
tax rate of one-fVurth mill upon the dollar be levied, assessed, and is hereby imposed
ti
upon all the property in the County of Indian River, on the first day of January 1927,
to meet the current expenses as estimated in the budget.
According to the millage so determined, fixed and assessed, the total millage to be

entered in the column provided for County Taxes in the assessment roll for the year
19272 is 35 mills upon the dollar, to cover a total estimated expenditure of 0223,533.75
The Board then proceeded to fix the millage for '!Vecial Road and Bridge District
o. 4 under Zee. 1656 of Chapter 120 Revised General Utatutes of Florida, and it was
determined that a tax rate of Twenty (20) mills on the dollar be levied and is, hereby
fixed and assessed for the year 1927, on all of the property in the County of Indian
River lying and being within the boundaries of the said District for the purpose of
paying interest and creating a sinking fund for the retirement of the bonded debt, which
boundaries are as follows; Vommencing at the North-west corner of Sec. 6 Tp. 32 S. R: 39
•, thence run East along section lines to the water's edge of the Atlantic Ocean; thence
run South-easterly along the edge of the .Atlantic Ocean to the South line of Sec. 34 Tp.33
S. R. 40 Res thence run West along Section lines to the S. V6 corner of the East half of
the Test half of Sec. 349 Tp. 33 S. R. 38 Bog thence run North to the Nota'th-west corner of
the East half of the West half of Sec. 34, Tp. 33 S. R. 38 E., thence run West to the Sout)
-west corner of Sec. 27 Tp. 33 S. R. 38 E., thence run North to the North-west corner of
Sec. 15, Tp, 33 S. R,138 E., thence run West to the South-west corner of Sec.9 Tp. 33 S.
R. 38 E., thence run North to the North-west corner of Sec. 99, Tp. 33 S. R. 38 3.9 thence
run West to the South-we-st, corner of the East half of Sec. 59 Tp, 33 S. R. 38 E., thence
ran Forth to the North-west eo=er of the East half of Sec. 5 Tp. 33 S. R. 38 E , thence
run East to the North-east corner of Section One Tp. 33 S. R. 38 E., thence run North to

County line to N. W. cor. T: 31, S. R. 38 E. thence South along ravage line to S. V, Cor,
Sec. 18 T. 31 S. R. 38 thence East along Section line to Atlantic Ocean, thence North
along Dcaan Beach to starting point.
Estimates having been made by the Trustees of Special Tax School District No.
7, and the Trustees having certified the millage voted to be assessed it was determined
that a tax rate of Ten (10) mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby fixed and as-

31 T. 31 S. R. 38 E. thence East along Section line to Atlantic Ocean, thence North along
Ocean beach to starting point.
Estimates having been made by the Trustees of Special Tax School District
No. 8, and the Trustees having certified the rate of millage voted to be assessed it was..
determined that a tax rate of Ten (10) mills upon the dollar be levied, and is hereby f.

Florida, be and he is hereby directed to levy and assess all of the foregoing taxes as
fixed and levied by this Board upon the property as levied and that he extend the taxes
on the valuation of such property according to said millage as fixed and determined by
this Board -on all the property subject to taxation in the said County of Indian River,
as to all. -taxes levied and intended to be entered on the assessment roll under the head
of County taxes, and upon all property lying and being within the Districts as described
within the County of Indian River, as of the. First day of Zanuary 1926.
RMOLVBD, Farther, that the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Clerk of this Board,
be and he is hereby directed to furnish to Geo. T. Tippin, Tax Assessor, of Indian River
County, a full and complete copy of the foregoing minutes in so far as the same relates
to the subject of levying taxes, describing boundaries and etc.
RESOLVED, Further, that the Clerk and Auditor of the County be notified .of the
amount to be apportioned to the different accounts out of the total taxes levied for all
purposes.

Farmers Bank & Trust Company of Vero Beach, at the time it closed its doors for business,
on January 27th -1927, and which notes, mortgages and other securities was held by this
such Bank to issue its Trust receipt therefo` ,
Board in addition to the amount placed with the State Comptroller, and the Board after
considering such request and application it mas moved by Commissioner DaBruce and
seconded by Commissioner Geo.A.Braddock, and unanimously carried that this Board do not
deliver to said Bank the notes, mortgages and securities held by them to secure such

hereby vacate, abandon and discontinue for all public highway, road or street purposes
whatsoever, the following described strip of land and part of road in Indian River

Florida East Coast Eailway Company. a corporation, the center line of said strip of 1
