There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried, the

The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida met at the
Courthouse at Vero Beach, Indian River County, in a regular adjourned meeting at 9:00 A. M.
Monday, October 11, 1954, with the following members present: Commissioners W. C. Graves,
Jr., Chairman; Aubrey L. Waddell; J. J. P. Hamilton; and Allison Warren. Also present were
E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney; and Douglas
Baker, Clerk.
The County .Assessor of Taxes, Homer C. Fletcher, appeared before the board
and presented the tax rolls for the year 1954 on Real and Personal Property and also Intan-
Bible Tax Rolls which were carefully examined and found correct and on Motion made by
Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Warren, and carried, were approved, and
the warrants to each of said rolls were annexed thereto and is in words and figures follow-
ings
THE STATE OF FLORIDA
To Troy E. Moody, Tax Collector of the County of Indian River:
You are hereby commanded to collect out of the real estate and personal pro-
perty, and from each of the persons and corporations named in the annexed rolls, the taxes
set down in each roll opposite each name,.corporation or parcel of land therein described,
and in case taxes so imposed are not paid at the time prescribed by law, you are to collect
the same by levy and sale of the goods and chattels, lands and tenements so assessed, or of
the person or corporation so taxed; and all sums collected for the State taxes you are to
pay to the State Treasurer at such time as may be required by laws and at the same time you
are to pay to the legally qualified Depository all sums collected for county taxes, district
school taxes and other special taxes; and you are further required to make all collections
on or before the first Monday in April; and on or before the first Monday in July you will
make a final report to and settlement with the Comptroller and County Commissioners.

Gentlemen:
We have in our files a two thousand dollar performance Bond submitted by J. J.
Brotman on Unit No. 2 of Paradise Park Subdivision dated June 2, 1954. The plat of this
subdivision was filed June 8, 1954 and the bond was for the purpose of insuring the County as
to "installation of culverts and other necessary drainage facilities".
This is to advise that all work has been completed satisfactorily on this subdivision
and that the said bond should be released by action of the Board.

Upon the foregoing recommendation of E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent,
and upon motion of Commissioner Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Waddell and carried, Douglas
Baker, Clerk was authorized and instructed to release the said performance bond.

Re: Citrus Gardens Sub'd
Gentlemen:
This is to advise that the street and drainage work has been completed satisfactorily
to this department on Citrus Gardens Subdivision, located at the corner of Clemanns Ave. and
Glendale.
A cash bond in the nature of a certified check was filed with the Clerk by the
developer's Agent, J. W. Boring of Merriman, Boring and Sutherland, to permit filing of the
record plat. This bond should be returned on proper action by your Board.

Upon the foregoing recommendation of E. E. Carter, Road C Bridge Superintendent,
and upon Motion of Commission Hamilton, seconded by Commissioner Warren and carried, Douglas
Baker, Clerk, was authorized and instructed to release the said performance bond.
A letter was received from Charles C. Jewett, City Manager of Vero Beach,
requesting the Board to grant an easement to an area 20' x 20' for a necessary lift station
In connection with a proposed new sewer system, to relieve a very bad sdwageadisposal problem
in Brae Burn Park Subdivision. After consideration in the matter, the Board instructed
Douglas Baker, Clerk, to write a letter to Mr. Jewett advising that E. E. Carter, Road C
Bridge Superintendent had been instructed to contact Mr. Jewett in order that a location be
selected that would be acceptable to both parties and said location not to exceed 20' x 20'.
Also in connection with this matter a committee consisting of Commissioner U.arren, Attorney
Sherman N. Smith, Jr. and E. E. Carter, was appointed to contact Mr. Jewett with regard to
the foregoing proposal with the idea of working out a tie-in with the new propos.ed system for the
Sunshine Center School building.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
then adjourned until 9:00 o'clock A. M. Wednesday, October 13, 1954.

The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, met at the
Courthouse at Vero Beach, Indian River County, Florida in a regular adjourned meeting at
9:00 o'clock... M. Wednesday, October 13, 1954, with the following members present: W. C.
Graves, Jr., Chairman, Aubrey L. Waddell, J. J. P. Hamilton and H. C. Watts. Also present
were E. E. Carter, Road & Bridge Superintendent, Sherman N. Smith, Jr., Attorney, and
Katherine Morrison, Deputy Clerk.
The following resolution was received from the Democratic Executive Committee
of Indian River County:

Be it hereby resolved by the members of the Indian River County Democratic
Committee at a special called meeting at two o'clock on Tuesday, October 12, 1954, Vero Beach,
Indian River County, Florida, for the purpose of selecting a democratic nominee for the office
of Sheriff of Indian River County, Florida.
Be it Resolved that the unanimous consent of the Committee for Democratic
Nominee for the office of sheriff of Indian River County shall be
S. D. Smith
Be it further resolved that copy of this Resolution be delivered personally
by the Secretary of the Indian River County democratic Committee to the Clerk of the Board
of County Commissioners as soon as possible and if said Clerk cannot be found, to any
Commissioner of Indian River County, Florida, informing them of the decision of the Democratic
Executive Committee and respectfully request that the Democratic nominee of Indian River
County, Florida, be duly placed on the ballot for election.
