The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in hero Beach, at 10 o'clock A.M.Tuesday -september 6th 1927, with the following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Chaizman; Geo. A. Braddock; J.W. 7aBruce; J.J.P.Hamiiton• and Donald Forbes. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and J. W. Knight, `Sheriff. The Minutes of the previous'meeting were read and approved. The Bond of 3.K.Kersey in the sum of *100.00 to carry a fire -arm was rejected on the ground that the Board does not desire to approve such. bonds. The Xothers Pension application of Mrs Bessie Knight of Vero Beach was approved and warrant ordered issued each month in the sum of 020.00 it was ordered that the new road now being constructed from the Dixie Highway to Roseland be made 16 feet wide instead of nine feet as at present contemplated. it was ordered that the Cle3k advise all who are in arrears in payment of rents due the County that 30 days will be given in t.ich to pay all balances $ow due. The Deputy Sheriff Bond of C.S.Rice in the sum of U1,000.00 with A.W.Young and 9m. Atkin as sureties was approved. WMREAS there is not now sufficient funds available in the General Revenue Fund of the County to meet current expenses and make final settlement with the Tax Assessor on the 1926 tax roll; THEREFORE BE IT REM= LVED that the sum of §59,000.00 be transferred from the Time Warrant Fund, issue of 1925, upon the approval only of the State Comptroller, to said General Revenue Fund to meet the current expenses now due and unpaid. Upon such resolution being put 'before the Board it was unanimously adopted. The following Road petition was received: ROAD PETITION. STATE OF .FLORIDA COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER) TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: Gentlemen: We the undersigned citizens of Indian River County, State of Florida, ; res- pectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: - Commencing at the intersection of Section line between Sections thirty (30) and Thirty-one (31) Township 'Thirty-three (33), South B.nge Forty (40) East, with the present Dixie Highway (old road) thence along said Section line between Sections Thirty (30) and 'Thirty-one ( 310 Township Thirty-three (33 ) South, Eange Forty (40) East, in an Easterly direction to the point of intersection with the new state Road now under construction. The distance being about Five hundred feet . Said road right-of-way to be not less than 'thirty feet in width. We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laidxxx out and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, ih consideration of the sum of une dollar to us each and severally in hand paid by the said county of indian rover, the receipt of which is. hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition and relinquish all claims for damage by reason 9 thereof. it was ordered that A.S.Davis, Axel xallstrom and .11.L.Leisher, be appointed a committee to view, mark and lay out said road and report to this Board. NATE OF FLORIDA CO'URTY OF INDIAN RIVER TO THE RONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COIUISSIONERS: Gentlemen: - We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at S.W. Corner of Sec 22 T. 32 S.R.39 East, run North on 'Sec. line between See. 22 and 21 Sections 16 and 15, =sections 10 and 9 to South quay or printer Beach road, 2-j Miles more or less. Said road to be fifty feet wide, 25 feet each side of Section line. 'We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of One dollar to us each and severally in hand paid by the said County of Indian River, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims for damages by reason thereof. It -was ordered that B.C.Walker, Paul H.Nisle and D.L.Leisher, be appointed a Committee to view, mark and lay out said road and report to this Board. Check for p26.00 account Refund to Mothers Pension .Fund was received, and ordeded -paid in the Mothers Pension fund. The tax Assessor having submitted statement of account between the County and -his office on account of the 1926 tax roll, it was ordered that payment in full be made the Tax Assessor on the following basis, - Total County taxes assessed....383,117.47 Total Commissions due.......... 4089072.34 'Less errors and insolvencies.:. 310.84 Net commissions to be paid..... 079761 50- Payments'made to Assessor...... 69381.84 Balance due Assessor........... 1,379.6E 70761.50 79761.5( The .Assessor was called upon for a statement of his office expenses in connection with the 1926 tax roll, and he submitted statement showing expenses of X2,707079 for the year 1926. Vhereupon the Board then made settlement with the `tax Assessor upon the following basis in accordance with the "Fee Bill' of 1923: Amount due by the County....$7,761.50 .Amount paid by State........ 841.01 0%6602.51 Office expenses............ 2,707.79 Balance net fees........... 59894.72 Pay Assessor all of first.. $59000.00 605 of next thousand....... 536.82 40o retained by County..... 357.90 52894.72 51894.72 It was ordered that warrant be issued to Geo T. Tippin, Tax Assessor in the sum of .$1,021.76 for the balance due on account of 1926 tax roll. It appearing from settlement made with the .Assessor of taxes that the amount to be. paid him should be X500.00 each month, it was ordered that warrant for such amount be drawn each month, and that warrant at this meeting be drawn for the sum of $400.00 to balance up account as to the 1927 tax roll. The Tax Collector filed his report of errors and insolvencies df the 1926 tax roll showing I , upon which he cannot collect for the various reasons opposite each item. It was ordered that the list be accepted and approved by the Board. The Notary Public Bond of Louisa Va=t in the sum of $500.00 with the .American .lure Company -o-f New York,, a corporation, as surety was approved. The several bills against the County, having been audited, were examined and found I* to be correct and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bills and account being on file in the Clerks office and made a part of these minutes by reference thereto. The County Depositories filed their monthly statements showing the balances on hand in the various funds of the County, which -were found to be correct. OCTOBER 4th, 1927s The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday, October 4th 1927, with the following members of the Board present: John H.Atkin,. Chaimnan; Geo.A.Braddock; J.T.LaBruce; J.J.P.Hemil- ton and 0 O.Helseth. Also present were Miles tWarren, Cle* and J.W.Knightg Sheriff. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Deputy Sheriff bond of Theodore Miller in the sum of 01,000.00 with David Rosa and Albert Schuman as sureties was approved. The Notary Public bond of Glenn C. Snodgrass, in the sum of $500.00 with the Amer - icon :Surety Company of New York, a corporation, as surety was approved. Mothers Pension application of Nellie Boatright of Winter Beach was approved and warrant ordered issued in the sum. of $30: 00 each month. The Mothers Pension application of Louie Wood of Winter Beach *as approved and warrant ordered issued each month in the sum of $25.00. It was ordered that the proposal of Mattmuller and Kutz to move the cottage of r Mrs Nancy- H. Wei.11s f rom the right-of-way of State Road No. 4, for the sum .of $200.00 be accepted, and ordered they be instructed to do this work. BRIDGE TO JOHNS I ;LAND. BE IT IB90LVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County,Flo that said Board hereby authorized the construction of abridge across the Indian Diver John's Island about three miles South-east of Winter Beach, Florida, and eleven and one half miles South of the Sebastian Inlet, which bridge shall be constructed in accord- ance with plans entitled "Proposed Bridge across Indian River at John's Island,Indian Riven County, Florida", said plans being in two (2) sheets dated October 10th and prepared by D.L.LeisheP, County Engineer, and- BE nd BE IT IURTHER R;',JLVED, that said D.L.Leisher, County Engineer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to sign and make application to the War Department in behalf of the Board of County Commissioners for approval of the construction of a bridge at the above mentioned location, and in accordance with the above mentioned plans.
