TUESDAY, NOVEMBER lst, 1927.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at
the. Court House in Vero Beach utt10:o6c1obto;f !X.Tueodey, November lot 19279 with the
following members of the Board present: John H. .Atkin, Chairman, Geo. A. Braddock;
J. V. La$ruce J. J. P. Hamilton and 0. 0., Helseth. Also present were Niles Marren,
Clerk and J. M. Knights :.Sheriff, by Deputy.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
W. F. Graves, representing the Sebastian Land Company of Mabasso appeared before
the Board and requested that road, heretofore declared public, be laid out and built
directly East from the road leading from Mabasso Fest, to connect with the present
Dixie Highway. It was ordered that this road be constructed as soon as the County
Engineer can get to this work.
Gus A. Tomlinson, attorney, appeared before the Board in behalf of J.W.Anderson,
convicted Aza of unlawful possession of intoxicating liquor. It was ordered that the
sentence imposed upon said Anderson, which is to be carried out subject to the offer
of this Board, be made and served by working under the direction of the County Engineer.
Chas. E. Berg appeared before the Board respecting additional road to be constru-
cted
in
Jpecial Road &
Bridge District No. 4. Mr.
Vim Lane also
appeared before the
Board
in
opposition to
such movement and presented
a petition in
opposition thereto,
It
was
ordered that in
view the plans and specifications were
laid out
and defined prior
to
the
vote for bonds
to construct said roads, that no change
be made
in the same.
J. P. Geyer appeared before the Board regarding the Dixie Highway at Gifford which
is located
on two lots owned by him.
It was
ordered
that the County Engineer re -stake
the lots in.the
Ropy subdivision to
Gifford,
fronting
on the Dixie Highway, in order
that deeds be procured for that part of the lots now covered by the right-of-way of
the Dixie Highway.
D. A. Pfarr submitted in writing a proposition for Court House site in Vero Beach,
east of the railroad which was ordered filed and taken unler consideration.
ROAD PETITION*
The following read petition was received, read and filed:

TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY 00IMSSIONERS OF SAID COUNTY:
Gentlemen:
We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, 'State of Florida,
respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require a County Road to be
laid out as follows, to -wits
Commencing at: Beginning at the Dixie Highway right-of-way on
the quarter section line dividing South-west Quarter, See.10,
Tp. 32 S.R.39 as per diagram in this petition, said road to tun
East to Indian River a distance of approximately one mile.
Said road right-of-way to be not less than Fifty feet in width.
We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a
county Road as described above, and we, the owners of the land through which said road
s sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of One dollar to us each and
ly in hand paid by the said County of Indian River, the receipt of which is hereby
edged, . hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lands, as shoran by the
t accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims for damage by reason thereof.
It ,was ordered that a Committee be appointed composed of :A.V1.Woods# J.D.Edwards ��
and D.l.Leisher, to view, mans and lad* out said road and report to this Board of their
actions.
Mothers Pension application of Mary L.Daniels was rejected for the mason it is
shown she has not been a resident of this County for a year last past as required by
law.
The Deputy `sheriff bond of 'Dake R.$ymer in the sum of $19000.00 with r .C.Gifford
and C.R.McClure as sureties was approved.
Checks for sale of material and road construction received as follows:

which was ordered placed in the road and Bridge Fundof the County.
Bids having been received for the construction of Bridge across an arm of the
River to: John's .Island, and 'the War Department having advised it will be necessary to
hold a public hearing on this project and receive. the approval,of such Department before
,such action can be taken, it was ordered that all bids in connection therewith be laid
over for further consideration, after race ipt of authority to construct such bridge is
received from the war Department.
Petition for change in Weills-Fultz road South of Vero Beach and East of the
Florida East Coast Railway be rejected for the reason that change in plans of :aped. al
Road & Bridge District No . 4 cannot be made.
The several bills against the County, having been audited, were examined €md found
correct and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. The said bills and accounts
being on file in the office of the Clezk to this Board and made a part of_ these minu-
tee.
The several County Depositories filed their monthly statement showing receipts and
disbursements of the various funds, thich were found to be correct. ,
There being no further business on motion made, seconded and carried the Board
adj oumned until the regular meeting in December 1927.
