TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7th2 1928.
The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met
at the Court House in Vero Beach, on Tuesday, February 7th 1928 at 10 o'clock A.M.
with the following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Charman; Geo.A.Braddock;
ToW.3aBruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and O.O.Helseth. Also present were Bibles 'Warren, Clerk
and lake Fqmer, Deputy Sheriff.
The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Dr. Pettibone appeared before the Board regarding collision between his automobile
and County truck. It was ordered that the Engineer investigate this accident and report
his findings to the Board.
Mr. John Corsa appeared before the Board respecting road known and designated as
A-10 road on County Engineer's map. The Board assured Bir Corsa that the matter of this
road was on the Commissioners program for this day. and that some definite action will
be taken on it.
Hr. James J. Rick and several others appeared before the Board representing the
Dixie Highway Improvement Association, and requested improvement of the Dixie Highway
south of Vero Beach. The Associationthrough their representativespresented peti-

tions numerously signed requesting improvements on this Highway. The Board agreed to
take the same under consideration.
W*F.Graves,Jr., appeared before the Board and requested Bridge just west of Sebas-
tian Land Co. turpentine still be repaired, the land Company agreeing to furnish all
materials necessary and the County furnish the labor. On motion made, seconded and
carried, it wes ordered that the County Engineer construct the bridge on accordance
with such agreement,
Bars Christine E. Richie, appeared before the Board regarding Court House site
and offered Block 4 Original Town of Vero for the sum of $129000.00 and also nine lots
in Block 6, Original Town of Vero for the sun of $8,000.00. It was ordered that these
proposals be filed.
Deputy Sheriff Is bond of x J.R.Gossett in the sum of $1,000.00 with W.R.Duncan and
D.A.Pfarr as sureties was approved.
It
was
ordered that the County purchase
new motorcycle for
the
Highway Officer
for the
sum
of $299.50 and the old Machine now in use. Payment
for
such new machine
to be made March 6th next.
It was ordered that C.C.Braswell be reimbursed for culvert placed under road at
Winter Beach upon presentation of bill for same properly approved by the County Engin-
eer.
It was ordered that the County Judge and Justice of Peace in the County be notified
not to issue warrants in criminal cases, upon complaint and affidavit of individuals,
unless sufficient bond or deposit for cost is first made with such officer.
It was ordered that the Clerk of this Board notify all County officers not to
incur any e.7pense against the County unless first approved by the Board of County Com-
missioners, except for ordinary books and stationary necessary for the transaction of
regular business.
It was ordered that the County Engineer assemble the entire road equipment at the
Indian River County Fair grounds for exhibit of one day during the progress of the fair;
It was ordered that $500.00 be given the Indian River Fair Association, to be drawn
from the publicity Fund for operation of the Fair to be held this month.
It was ordered that the Vero Beach Press -Journal be designated as the newspaper in
delinquent

It was ordered
that
the Bond of Chas.D.Toole,
as
supervisor of Registration for
four years be not approved by this Board.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted:
7MREAB there is not now sufficient funds available in the GENERAL REVENUE FUND, of
the County to meet current expenses, which is caused by non-payment of taxes anticipated
and reasonably expected at this period of the year;
THEREFORE, Be it resolved that the sum of $5,000.00 be transferred from the Time
Varrant Fund, issue of 1925, upon the approval only of the Comptroller, to said General
Revenue Fund to meet the current expenses now due and unpaid.
Upon such resolution being put to a vote it was unanimously adopted.
Reports having been made by the County Furse, at the request of this Board, regardix
the financial condition of certain citizens of the County, it seas ordered that the
following be placed on the relief list for the amounts set opposite their names,

The 'State Comptroller having furnished the Board list of Confederate pensioners
residing in Indian River County, Florida, and the same having been carefully examined,
the list was approved.
In accordance with and under the provisions of Chapter 12068 Laws of Florida, the
Board proceeded to and did select the list of names from the Registration books of per-
sons qualified to serve as jurors within Endian River County, for the year 19289 as
follows:

which list of names so selected, after having been duly listed and attached to affidavit
of the Boarei. of County Commissioners in conforinity with and agreeable to the laws govern-
ing the selection of jurors by said County Coimnissioners, it was ordered that each name
be listed separately, folded and deposited by the Clerk in the jury box of the County.
It.was further ordered that the list so selected be recorded in the minutes of this
ard.
The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited, were examined
and approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bills and accounts
being on file in the Clerk's office and made a part of these minutes.
The several County Depositories filed their monthly statements showing receipts and
disbursements of the various funds of the County, which, having been audited, were found
to be correct.
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board
then adjourned until the regular meeting in March 1928.
