Sherman N. Smith Jr. reported that the Florida Inland Navigation
District has approved the plat and layout of the proposed Wabasso Island
Park.
He also reported that all those interested in garbage franchises had
met and agreed on the details for a franchise and that he will redraft
the proposed franchises.
The Attorney for the Board had drafted a supplemental lease to the
present lease between the County and the Wabasso Civic Club. After some
discussion in the matter Motion Was made by Commissioner Hamilton, seconded
by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, that the following
Resolution be adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Indian River County holds and owns certain prop-
erty in said county commonly known as the Wabasso Beach Park and other
adjacent property dedicated for public park purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian Rive
County, Florida, did lease said park to the Wabasso Beach and Civic Club,
Inc., by lease dated April 1, 1952; and,
WHEREAS, said Civic Club is a corporation not for profit for
the purpose of promoting community interests and welfare and it appearing
. unto the Board that it would be to the best interest of the county that said leas
be supplemented and extended; and,
WHEREAS, this Board is satisfied that such property is
required for such use and is not needed for county purposes; Now,'therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Indian River County, Florida, that the supplement to said lease presented
herewith is hereby approved and the Chairman and Clerk of this Board are
herewith authorized and instructed to make, execute and deliver said supple -
ment for and upon behalf of said County.

Clerk of the Circuit Court; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a notice thereof shall be pub
lished one time in the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper of general cir-
culation in Indian River County, Florida, which publication shall be at least
two (2) weeks prior to the date stated therein for such public hearing; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that should either twenty (20) per
cent of the landowners or the owners of twenty (20) per cent of the lots in the
subdivision in which said park is located or the owner of any lot in said sub-
division located within 400 feet of said park and on which lot any building

A letter was received signed by Howard L. Jones, Chairman of the
4alasy Committee of the Classroom Teacher's Association, requesting a
meeting of the committee named in a joint meeting last May. The Board
requested the Deputy Clerk write the Classroom Teacher's Association

Mr. Foster who lives at the corner of Clemanns & Rosedale appeared
before the Board and requested that speed limit signs be put up at that
corner. After some discussion in the matter, Motion was made by Commissioner
Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, that
the State Road Department be requested to make a traffic survey at Clemann's
and 16th, Clemann's and Glendale, and Clemann's and Oslo.
Homer Fletcher appeared before the Board and stated he had received the
following bids for office equipment.
O'Haire Office Equipment Company ---------- Bid of $5,471.00
H & W B Drew Company ---------------------- Bid of $5,900.00
Vero Office Supply Co. -------------------- Bid of $5,676.07
Mr. Fletcher recommended that the Board accept the low bid of O'Haire Office
Equipment Company. Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by
Commissioner Hamilton and unanimously carried to accept the low bid by 0"Haire
Office Equipment Co. in the amount of $5,471.00 for office equipment for the
Tax Assessor's Office.
Deacon Brown from Gifford appeared before the Board and stated the
Deacon's Union in Gifford had bought two lots in Gifford on which to build
an Old Folk's Home and they were going to need some help in building and
furnishing the Home. The Board told Brown they would consider giving them
some help in the next year's budget.
The several bills and accounts against the County, having been audited,
were examined and found correct, were approved and warrants issued in settle-
ment of same. Such bills and accounts being on file in the Office of the
Clerk of the Circuit Court, the warrants so issued from the respective funds
being listed in the Supplemental Minute Book as provided by the rules of
the State Auditor, reference to such record and the list so recorded being
made a part of these minutes.
The County Depositories filed their monthly statement, showing receipts
and disbursements of the various funds, which have been audited and found
to be correct.
There being no further business, on motion made, seconded and carried,
the Board then adjourned.
