A special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was held
at 8:00 o'clOck A.M., Friday, January 6, 1961. Present were Robert W.
Graves, Chairman, D. B. McCullers, Jr., J. J. P. Hamilton, and Dr. B. Q.
Waddell, Jr. Absent was Donald Macdonald. Also present were Sherman N.
Smith, Jr., Attorney for the Board, Ed Schmucker, County Engineer and
Katherine Morrison, Deputy Clerk.
The Chairman stated this meeting was called for the purpose of
going over the parcels in the U. S. #1 Condemnation Suit which would
be coming up for trial on Monday, January 9th. A discussion on these
parcels was then held.
The Chairman then asked if there were any other matters to be brought
before the Board.
The County Engineer presented a completion bond on Whispering Palms,
Inc. Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner
Hamilton and carried, accepting the developers completion Bond of Whispering
Palms, Inc., Whispering Palms, Unit #5 with American Fire and Casualty Co.
as Surety in the amount of $5,573.50, guaranteeing completion of require-
ments of the County as set forth in the Surety Bond dated December 16,
1960.
The County Engineer stated that Mr. Carl W. Walter had approved him
to put in a concrete bridge 2 1/4 Miles North of Road 60 at Ranch Road
canal crossing and that he would pay half the cost or $2,125.00 for such
a bridge. Motion was made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Comm-
issioner Hamilton and unanimously carried, to accept the offer of Mr.
Walter and directed the Engineer go ahead with the work.
There being no further business, the Meeting then adjourned.
