HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/9/1962TUESDAY; OCTOBER 9., 1962 • The Board of County Commissibners'of Indian River County, met at the Courthouse, Vero Beach, Florida, in a regular meeting held at 8:00 o'clock, A. M. Tuesday, October 9, 1962. Present were Robert W. Graves, Chairman, D B. McCullers, Donald Macdonald and B. Q. Waddell. Absent was J. J. Y. Hamilton. Also present were Ed Schmucker, County Engineer, John Gould, Attorney, Al Webber and Freda Wright, Deputy Clerks.. The Chairman asked if there were any changes or additions to be made to the minutes of September 6, 21, 28 and October 1, 1962. There were none and upon Motion made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner 4gaddell and unanimously carried, the minutes were approved as read. Gladys Vigliano, County Welfare Worker, appeared before the Board and gave an oral report and filed a written.report of her activities for the month of September. Attorney L. B. Vocelle, representing Indian River Flying Service, appeared before the Board and asked the Board of County Commissioners to go on record as approving a local act and/or general act of legislature that would give relief to privately owned airports on real estate tax. After considerable discussion Mr. Vocelle was requested to furnish copies of the act that he proposed to introduce, for further study by the Board. Notion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried, that the County Engineer and County Zoning Inspector, are authorized to attend the Florida Planning and Zoning Association meeting in Miami on November 28, 1962, and that $20.00 is authorized to be paid for hotel reservations. Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, that the contract for jail equipment be accepted and the following Resolution adopted. J.: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, did advertise and call for bids for fabrication and installation of certain jail equipment for the County jail of Indian River County, Florida, and, WHEREAS, bids were submitted by several persons, firms and corporations of which Decatur Iron & Steel Company,`Inc., was the lowest responsible bidder, and WHEREFORE, said Board finds and determines that Decatur Iron & Steel Company, Inc., was and is a respon- sible bidder and that its bid was the lowest responsible bid, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commis- sioners of Indian River County, Florida, that Indian River County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, enter into a contract with Decatur Iron & Steel Company, Inc., for fabrication and installation of certain jail equipment for the County jail of Indian River County, Florida, in words, phrases and figures as follows: s 9110DlsNi CONTRAcr THIO AGItZXIUW wade the day ,of 19890 by'and between DECATUR IRON AND 9'PM COMPANl, INC., herei after called the Contractor, and INDIAN BITES COOKY, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, hereinafter called the Omer WITMMSSTB, that the Contractor and the Owner for the considerations hereinafter named agree as follows: ARTICLE 1. SCOPE OF THE WORK. The Contractor shall furnish all of the materials and perform all of the Work shown on the Drawings and described in th Specifications entitled Jail ssquipment for Indian River County Sheriff Department and Jail, Vero Beach, Florida, prepared by Nelson A. Faerber, AIA, staples, Florida, acting as and in these Contract Documents entitled the Architect; and shall do everythin required by this Agreement, the General Conditions of the Contras ,, the Specifications and the Drawings. .ARTICLE 2. TINS OF COMPLETION. The work to be performed under this Contract shall be commenced October 1, 1964; and shall be substantially completed March 1, 1963, and liquidated damages for delay in substantially completing the work shall be as set forth in Section 1-15 of the Specifications. ARTICLE 3. THE CONTRACT $UK. The Owner shall pay the Contractor for the performance of the Contract, subject to additions and deductions provided therein, in current funds as follows: Sixty-one Thousand Dollars ($61,004.00), composed of Sixty-one Thousand Dollars ($61,000.00) for ease Bid No. 2. COULD VERO BEACH, FLORIDA as provided therein, as follows: On or about the first day of each month ninety per cent (90%) of the value, based on the Contract prices of labor and materials incorporated in the work and of materials suitably stored at the site thereof or at some other location agreed upon in writing by the parties up to the previous day of that month, estimated by the Architect, less the aggregate of previous pay- ments; and upon substantial completion of the entire work, a sunt 11 sufficient to increase the total payments to ninety per cent (905 of the Contract price. ARTICLE 5. ACCEPTANCE AMD FINAL PAY!4KWT .
