The County Engineer presented a plat for Julian Lowenstein of
Vero Beach Shores Unit No. 1. After considering the same, Motion was
made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and
unanimously carried, that tentative approval of Vero Beach Shores Unit
No. 1 be made.
A Notice of Regional Council meeting on November 27, 1962, in
Daytona, was received by the Board and Motion was made by Commissioner
Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner Hamilton and unanimously carried,
that Commissioner Waddell and Ed Schmucker be authorized to make this
trip.
Ed Schmucker also presented a survey he had made on the request
of Gifford citizens for a street from South Gifford Road to North Gifford
Road. After considering the same, it did not seem feasible to extend the
street the entire length, but was suggested that Mr. Schmucker makea
further study for opening a portion of a street to connect with streets
already existing in the area and perhaps this would solve part of the
problem.
The County Attorney was requested to prepare a Resolution for
the purchase of land from Mr. E. M. Hemanes for a county marl pit.
Mr. Troy E. Moody, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board to
hear the final outcome of his request to purchase a bookkeeping machine.
After hearing further discussion as to ways and means of financing
same, Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner
McCullers and unanimously carried, that Troy and Homer be authorized to
advertise for bid for the machine.
The County Engineer reported that he had sent out questionaires
to the various franchise holders and had received from'Curtis Hunter a
statement that he was no longer in the business and that all his equip
went had been sold. Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded
by Commissioner Hamilton and unanimously carried, that the minutes show
the Board accepts voluntary surrender of the franchise of Mr. Curtis,.
Hunter, dated,March 21, 1961._
