HomeMy WebLinkAbout8/7/19281 1 1 0 1 179 TU Y, AUGUW 7th 1928, The Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at the Court House in Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, august 7th 19289 at 10 08clock A.M, with the following members of the Board present: John H. Atkin, Chairman; Geo. A. Braddock; J. W. LaBruce; J.J.P.Bamilton and 0. 0. Helseth. Also present were Miles Warren, Clerk and J. H. Sutherland, Sheriff, The Minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved: Mrs ti bil G. Hearne, acting for and in the place of the regular County Nurse. appeared before the Board regarding indigent and needy persons. It was .ordered that bills incurred as presented at this time be paid. It was ordered that the application of Henry Uelch, negro, of Wabasso be approved to enter the State School for Deaf and Blind at St. Augustine. Geo. T. Badger, President of Sebastian Inlet Improvement Association appeared before the Board requesting donation from County for repairs to Sebastian Inlet. It was ordered that matter be taken under advisement and advice be obtained from the County Attorney on this subject, W. E. Evans, County Agent, appeared before the Board respecting County exhibit -at-'South Florida Fair, Tampa, next February. It was agreed that an exhibit xaz will in - be placed at the Fair at that time. - Deputy `Sheriff bond of E.:D.McLaughlin, in the sum. of $1,000.00 with L.E.Davis and H.S.Knight, as sureties was approved. gray. It was ordered that G-7 Road be graded one quarter mile East of the Dixie High - It was ordered that bridge on road B-10 at Clemmon Avenue be built by the County Engineer. It was ordered that Bridge across road B-8 and Clennon Ave., be built by the County. The following Road petition was reeeived, read and filed: ROAD PETITION. STATM OF FLORII A COUNTY OF INDIA RIVB R) To the Honorable Board of County Commissioners of said County. GMITTLMON: - We, the undersigned, citizens of the County of Indian River, State of Florida, respectfully represent that the necessities of the public require, a County Road to be laid out as follows, to -wit: Commencing at a point in the Dixie Highway 480 ft.southerly from the North line of the South-west 1/4 of the --South-west 1/4 Section 19, Township 33 South, Range 40 East; thence North 82 degrees East 397 ft;. to the Vest right-of-way line of State Road No. 4, Project 691. Said road right-of-way to be not less than 50 feet in width. We therefore petition your honorable body to cause to be laid out and opened a County Road as above described, and we, the owners of the land through which said road is sought to be laid out, in consideration of the sum of One dollar .to us each and severally in hand paid by the said County of Indian River, the receipt of Mich is hereby acknowledged, hereby agree to give the right-of-way through our lends, as shown by the plat accompanying this petition, and relinquish all claims .for damages by reason thereof. It was ordered that D.1.1eisher, O.O.Helseth and Dewey Reams, be appointed a Committee to view,. mark and lay out said road and report to this Board. It was ordered that the Chairman and Clerk execute agreement with the Florida, East Coast Railway Company., a corporation, for railroad crossing at a point 4226 South of mile post 2211, located in the NEoT See. 10 Tp. 32 S .R.39 East. The.s everal bills and accounts against the County, having been audited were examined and approved and warrants ordered issued in settlement of same. Such bill and accounts being on file in the office of the Clerk of this Board and made _a part of these minutes: The several County Depositories filed their monthly statements of accounts of the County, showing receipts and disbumsements, which having been audited were four to be correct.
