APR -7 1966 <br />SOK j PAGE 200 <br />Mr. Iry Hodson of the Press Journal offered the Board the center <br />fold of the tabloid size special edition which will be published in <br />July to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Indian River County for <br />$220..00. The Board asked Mr. Hodson to present a layout for their <br />consideration. <br />Mr. L. K. Herron presented a proposal for the consideration of <br />the Board, to furnish one tractor, a custodian at 4 of the 5 dumps, <br />with full supervision for $28,128.00 per year with salvage rights. <br />He would furnish a second'txactor for $16,128.00 a year or a total <br />of $44,256.00 per year. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Haffield and unanimously carried that the County Attorney and Attorney <br />John Gould are authorized tb represent the county's interests in the <br />suit, Case No. 70, Erdle & Wilder Aircraft, et. al. vs. Ruth N. .Spillman, <br />et. al., naming the Board of County Commissioners as a Defendant. <br />Commissioner Waddell reported on the federal anti -poverty act, <br />explaining that it is designed to set up programs which will help <br />educate and improve the skills and opportunities of those who want to <br />live better; and, that the Act has been designed to permit a private <br />organization to administer the anti -poverty program on the local level. <br />Commissioner Waddell recommended and moved that the Board of County. <br />Commissioners stay out of the program and assist, if and when we are <br />needed, the local action committee which has been formed with Mrs. <br />Harry Sweitzer as temporary chairman. The Motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Haffield and unanimously carried. <br />A letter was received from Mecca C nvalescent Home, giving an <br />increased rate schedule effective April 1, 1965, for any patient being <br />admitted and effective June 1, 1965 for those currently residing there. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />McCullers and unanimously carried that the Item to Item transfer from <br />A/C No. 951, Contingencies to A/C No. 265, Hospital Insurance for <br />Employees, in the amount of $1,500.00, is authorized. <br />The Monthly Reports of the County Welfare Worker and the County <br />
