SEP 9-1965 1 <br />BOOK 9 *PAGE 308 <br />Subdivision and to cut the weeds at Hibiscus Airport Road and Old <br />Dixie Highway. <br />Upon Motion by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />Haffield and unanimously carried, it was voted to hire a professional <br />planner to make a plan of AlA from Indian River Shores to the Sebastian <br />Inlet and to make a zoning recommendation for the Zoning Board to. <br />follow. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner <br />Haffield and unanimously carried that the Clerk and Alfred H. Webber, <br />Deputy Clerk, be authorized to attend the Fall Convention of the <br />County Finance Ofgicers Association at Clearwater, October 13 to 16, 1965. <br />Homer C. Fletcher, Tax Assessor, requested the Board to have the <br />plywood which he used during the most recent hurricane threat made <br />into portable storm shutters for his office. Upon.Motion by Com- <br />missioner Haffield, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, and unanimously <br />carried, the County Engineer was instructed to purchase the bolts, <br />drill the holes in the plywood and in the wall, and it will be <br />the responsibility of the Tax Assessor to have thestorm shutters,:in- <br />stalled when necessary. <br />J. Ralph Lundy, President of the Progressive Civic League of <br />Gifford, Inc., renewed their request for improvements on streets <br />moat frequently used in the Gifford Area, to -wit: <br />28th Avenue, from North to South Gifford Road <br />45th Street from the Railroad to 35th Avenue. <br />31st and 35th Avenues from North to South Gifford Road <br />29th Place from North Gifford Road to Gifford Elementary School <br />38th Place in South Gifford <br />33rd Avenue north to Lindsay Road <br />He stated that the 29th Place and 45th street problems are among the <br />most serious and the 33rd Avenue is also in need of attention. He <br />rcquebted that 29th%Place be paved and suggested that the School Board <br />might share the cost. Motion was made by Commissioner Waddell, seconded <br />by Commissioner Haffield and unanimously carried, that the County <br />Engineer have an aerial photograph made of the Gifford area, provided <br />the expense involved does not exceed $500.00, and to begin preliminary <br />
