S. Schmucker. Mr. Atkinson, railroad inspector from the Florida Public Service ; Commission, informed the Board of a public hearing to be held December 9, at 10:00 A. M. in the County Commission room, for the purpose of taking testimony concerning the public need for.full restoration of passenger train service over the Florida East Coast Railroad, equivalent to that provided prior to the strike. The members of the Board. were urged to make .an appearance at the hearing and support the effort. The County Engineer. reported onthe proposed. approachto the Wabasso Bridge and, after considerable discussion, Commissioner Waddell moved that -the .curved section be changed to a straight tangent on the short span at the west end of the new Wabasso Bridge, and that the. County Engineer be instructed to request the State Road Department to make.this change in the.plans, provided that it does not, in any way, jeopardize the letting.of the contract for the bridge in November.. Motion was seconded. by Commissioner,Macdonald,and unanimously carried. Mr. W. E. (Kinky) Orth. asked if the Board had received any correspondence from his attorney, B. T. Cooksey, regarding the Tropicolony "ditch, and he was informed that the Board had received no correspondence. The County Engineer presented a proposal from C. R. Cruze to sell. the west 18 feet of the east 43 feet of Tract 8,A Twp 33S, Range 39 E, for $1,000.00, and'on Mention by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner McCu.11ers and unanimously carried, the offer from Mr. Cruze was accepted by the Board. Commissioner Waddell moved, seconded by Commissioner.Haffield and 'unanimously carried, that the State Road Department be requested to -lean the drainage ditch, which they own, between Road 60 and the Main Canal in the area of. 50th Avenue (approximately 1/4 mile west of where Road 60 crosses -the Main Canal) . • BOOK 0 PACE 3G3 NOV 10 1965
