The CONTRACTOR may view the core samples at <br /> the Tracking Station Beach Park, located at 800 46th Place, off North AIA, Vero <br /> Beach . . The CONTRACTOR shall provide advance notice to COUNTY staff at <br /> (772) 567-8000, EXT. 1568 to coordinate a requested visit. The CONTRACTOR <br /> shall abide by and comply with the Borrow Area Sediment QAYOC Plans for Sectors <br /> 1 & 2 and Sector 7 f Appendix Hl <br /> 24 . 1 .2 Hardbottom Communities. Hardbottom biological communities in the vicinity of the <br /> borrow area are to be STRICTLY AVOIDED by the CONTRACTOR during all <br /> mobilization, demobilization, dredging and transit activities. Work and access areas, <br /> work exclusion areas, equipment requirements, and reef buffer zones are specified in <br /> the Plans . <br /> The State of Florida has levied significant fines to dredge contractors who have <br /> damaged hardbottom communities in association with other projects. Pursuant to <br /> Article 6 of the Agreement, the CONTRACTOR shall be held responsible for any <br /> and all fines, and legal expenses incurred by the CONTRACTOR and the COUNTY <br /> in the event that the CONTRACTOR damages hardbottom communities in the <br /> project area. <br /> 24 . 1 . 3 Seaerass Communities. Based on a September 2005 seagrass survey, the edge of the <br /> seagrasses for the Sebastian Inlet Borrow area is shown on the Plans. The <br /> CONTRACTOR shall keep his equipment at least 100 feet from the edge of the <br /> seagrass. No equipment is allowed within the Seagrass Avoidance Area shown on <br /> the Plans. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for any damages to the seagrass beds. <br /> 24. 1 .4 Borrow Area Debris. The magnetometer survey of the Borrow Area and limited <br /> diver observation identified objects within or near the borrow area limits of which <br /> the CONTRACTOR should be aware. These are delineated on the project plans. <br /> 24 .2 Limitations on Excavation. Based on providing the best quality material, limited <br /> sections of the permitted Borrow Areas have been specified for use on this contract. <br /> All excavation for beach fill shall be performed within the specified Borrow Areas <br /> location and to the cut depth indicated on the Plans. The CONTRACTOR shall be <br /> responsible for establishing controls as necessary to insure that the specified <br /> excavation depth and delineated Borrow Areas is not exceeded. The COUNTY may <br /> require the CONTRACTOR, at the CONTRACTOR' S expense, to change the <br /> location and/or depth of excavation within the permitted borrow area based on the <br /> quality of the dredge material observed. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for <br /> placement of the specified quantity of sand. <br /> 25 .
