29. 3 Hooper Dredge Method. If the material is transported by hopper dredge or scows, <br /> then all scows and vessels must be kept in good condition, the coamings repaired and <br /> the pockets provided with proper doors or appliances to prevent leakage of material . <br /> Overflow at the borrow site during loading and during transport shall be permitted to <br /> the extent that turbidity and water quality standards are met and that overflow <br /> complies with all permit conditions. The CONTRACTOR shall prevent overflow <br /> during transit over, or 1 ,500 ft upeurrent of, hardbottom areas. <br /> 30. LAYOUT OF WORK FOR BEACH FILL PLACEMENT <br /> 30 . 1 Monuments. Only the survey monuments shown on the plans shall be used for <br /> surveying beach profiles for the measurement of beach fill quantities. <br /> 30.2 Layout. From the monuments, control data and elevations shown on the Contract <br /> Drawings, the CONTRACTOR shall complete the layout of the work and shall be <br /> responsible for all measurements that may be required for the execution of the layout <br /> of the work, subject to such modifications as the COUNTY may require to meet <br /> changed conditions or as a result of necessary modifications to the contract work. <br /> The layout of the work shall be based on the cross-sections and not the plan views in <br /> the Construction Plans. CONTRACTOR is responsible for verification of all <br /> horizontal and vertical control provided in the Contract Drawings. The majority of <br /> the control points provided in the Contract Drawings were established by others for <br /> the purposes of beach profile monitoring. CONTRACTOR must verify all horizontal <br /> and vertical control for all monuments within the project limits prior to construction . <br /> 30.3 Responsibility. The CONTRACTOR shall provide all stakes, templates, platforms, <br /> equipment, tools, materials, and labor at the CONTRACTOR's expense as may be <br /> required in laying out any part of the work from the monuments, control data and <br /> elevations established by the COUNTY. The COUNTY shall furnish all boundary <br /> surveys and establish base lines for locating the principal component parts of the <br /> work together with a suitable number of bench marks adjacent to the work as shown <br /> in the Contract Documents. From the information provided by the COUNTY, unless <br /> otherwise specified in the Contract Documents, the CONTRACTOR shall develop <br /> and make al] detail surveys needed for construction such as slope stakes, stakes for <br /> pipe locations and other working points, lines, and elevations. The CONTRACTOR <br /> shall be responsible for maintaining and preserving all monuments, stakes and other <br /> markers established by the COUNTY unless and until authorized to remove them. If <br /> such markers are destroyed by the CONTRACTOR or through the CONTRACTOR <br /> negligence, prior to their authorized removal, they may be replaced at the discretion <br /> of the COUNTY, and the expense of replacement shall be deducted from any <br /> amounts due or to become due the CONTRACTOR. <br /> 30 .4 Construction Stakes. All fill grade stakes shall be steel pipe approved by the <br /> COUNTY and shall be completely removed in their entirety immediately after final <br /> acceptance of the section. Stakes must be long enough to extend a minimum of 6 feet <br /> above finished grade without the use of mechanical joints.
