DEP Permit No . : 0166929-010-EM
parameters listed above, then the fill material shall not exceed the naturally occurring
level for that parameter. "
The provisions of this rule shall be adhered to by the Contractor and enforced by the
engineer and the County throughout the construction process .
In addition to the provisions delineated within Rule 62B-41 .007(2)0) F .A.C . the placed
material will conform to the physical parameters specified within Table 1 .
Table 1
Placed Material Project Characteristics
Minimum Requirements
Characteristic Range
Mean Grain Size 0.25 to 0 .65 mm
Carbonate Content Not to Exceed 80%
Moist Color (Munsell) l OYR/6 or lighter
Sediment Excavation
In order to achieve the sediment quality requirements as outlined herein, a specific
borrow area cut geometry for both the offshore and Sebastian Inlet Sand Trap sites was
developed based on extensive field evaluations and detailed geotechnical analysis. The
results of these analyses are identified in the Contract Documents (Plans and
Specifications) . The borrow area geometry as identified in the figures shows the limits of
the borrow area. Additionally, a magnetometer survey has identified anomalies within
the borrow area and a dredge exclusion area is represented in Figures 1 and 3 . The
dredge shall not operate within the identified Dredge Exclusion Area. The elevations
(depths) of the cuts within the Primary and Secondary Borrow Areas are -31 feet NGVD
and -30 feet NGVD , respectively and as identified in Figures 2 and 4; this depth includes
a -2 foot overcut allowance.
The Sebastian Inlet Sand Trap and its cut geometries are shown in Figures 5 and 6 . The
borrow area has multiple cut geometries, which will reduce the potential of encountering
rock. The depth of the cuts vary from - 11 feet NGVD to - 16 feet NGVD . The Contractor
shall not excavate material from outside the horizontal or vertical dredge delineations.
Testing of Fill Material
The Site Representative shall collect samples of the beach fill material placed along the
project shoreline to ensure the material being placed by the Contractor is within the
project specifications and adheres to the material quality standards as outlined by Rule
6213-41 . 007(2)(j), F.A.C. Testing shall consist of visual observations and samples to be
analyzed through standard laboratory procedures.
3
